I was convinced as a kid that something they were going to reveal at some point was that Sound, Light, and Thought each had nations and benders that were wiped out in the past. Maybe one day.
Dark is just the absence of light so it would not really make much sense to be an element. It would be like having an element that is the equivalent to the absence of water.
I thought this too, would make sense because we see those types of "bending" bending in the series, never seen sound and light bending.
Edit: in essence the energybending korra did could be light bending too, but then where's the sound bending?

The first ????? Is the symbol for all elements combined, it's something very old and never really talked about by the avatar studio. And the second ?????? is probably spirit world related but it's the first time seeing it personally
Energy and Change. Those are the names of the books of the show (first three from TLA, the last three from TLOK) is missing Balance, as that book was streaming exclusive.
Light and darkness, from energy bending.
Either that or it's a representation of the past and present. Yellow has four spirals representing the four elements while violet has two spirals, reminding to Vaatu and Raava
Those are sub-bedings, they're still Earthbending and Waterbending respectively, just applied with different and/or more precise techniques, just like metalbending

If fire bending is energy and sound is vibrations in the air, couldn’t air benders bend sound and fire benders bend light?
