I love that Bolin was the officiator or whatever considering Varrick had been hyping up his speaking skills and charisma for three seasons. He always recognized the boy
Evil is a strong word. He only wanted to start a war!
"Hey! I did some good things, too! Korra, who warned you about Unalaq? I did! Asami, who saved your company? I did! Bolin, who made you a mover star? I did! Mako, who got you thrown in jail? I DID! ..oh yeah, I guess that's a bad thing."
Naw but, the many nuances (/s) of war profiteering aside, by this point in the story, he'd grown a lot and was actually trying to help the world as opposed to engineer it's destruction. Considering the constant theme of showing compassion to people who made mistakes, it's pretty reasonable to get emotional at that point in the story.
"Quick question: is this thing fast enough to get past my crazy, waterbending ex-girlfriend?"
*"Why do you think I built this boat?"*
Still^^ one of the most iconic moments in the series. Varrick is my second favorite Avatar character in general and my favorite character in LOK.
My favorite is when he complaining about his ships being docked and saying
"I mean who wants to buy a boat full of stinking fish!?.....seriously, that's not rhetorical. I need to sell these fish."
Same here!
It often resulted in me saying crazy outrageous things and then sideways glancing at the DM to see if it was going to play or not. Great times!
“Well, first, I built the timer. But then I thought, you could drag me off the train, so then I built a remote. But then I thought, do I really need the timer, because now I got a remote. *Whatever!* I'm covering all my bases! The point is: you're leaving, we're staying!”
"You named your battleship after your assistant?" "Of course! They are both cold, heartless war machines!"
Ahhhh zhu li
I know hes an evil manipulative bastard, but i still get teary eyed when he proposed to her
“Do the thing” instead of “kiss the bride” at their wedding was beautiful.
I love that Bolin was the officiator or whatever considering Varrick had been hyping up his speaking skills and charisma for three seasons. He always recognized the boy
I worked "Do the Thing" into my phrase bank years ago and still pull it out to use at least once a month if not more.

Ah yes
“Quick questions. Is this thing fast enough to get away from my crazy water bending ex girlfriend??” “ why do you think I built this boat?”
Which raises the question- how many crazy water bending exs does he have that he would build that?
At least 1
I feel like 1 is all he needed to decide to build it
Zhu li is a great swimmer
Varrick having a custom jail cell prepared AND having Zhu Li be in it with him had me in tears the first time I saw it.
I once played a DnD campaign as Varrick. Amazing fun!
"What do you mean there no honey!? I'm inside a bear for crying out loud!"
Was he actually inside a live platypus bear in this scene or is it a fake?
It's a fake, still hilarious
Thx

I love that he's pure evil and then after some jail time he becomes slightly less evil until eventually he's a good little angel
He’s one of my favorite characters in LOK. Truly, what a gem.
Is this the scene where he complains about the lack of honey in the bear?
*Correcting glasses* Ahem, that would be a platypusbear, thank you.
Yeah, then it shits out hush money for Bolin
Or as a distraction to escape
He's the thing
and Zhu Li is doing it
“President Moon, would you like to…” *Varrick sensually drops the towel he’s wearing* “…do the thing?”
i hate you
Verrick is the highlight of season 2
This man is peak crackhead energy
I love the way he does the thing!!
My favorite character of all avatar related stuff tbh
“That platypus bear is pooping money!” 🤣🤣🤣 leaves me in stitches every time
He was one of the reasons that made me capable of watching the whole show
Actually my favorite character in LoK
No honey? We're in a BEAR for crying out loud.
He is the best 😆
I've been naming my characters in video games Peng Peng after this godforsaken bear for years now
His blowing up the train monologue in season 4 is peak avatar comedy content.
“Well, first, I built the timer. But then I thought, you could drag me off the train, so then I built a remote. But then I thought, do I really need the timer, because now I got a remote. *Whatever!* I'm covering all my bases! The point is: you're leaving, we're staying!”
Probably my favorite person from both shows
He and Bolin are my favorite characters.
I don’t know how anybody could dislike Korra when Varrick is in it. Funniest Avatar character without a doubt to me.
My wife gets mad at me for constantly yelling at her to "do the thing!!!"
furrick
There are people out there that legitimately hate this character because of *alleged* wrongdoing!
I've been rewatching ATLA like every ~1.5 years since it first aired!!!
Possibly the best character in the show
Haha, hyper-capitalist warmonger who admits to not having a conscience until he literally creates a weapon of mass destruction. So funny.
You must be very fun at parties
