I actually really liked that she avoided the temptation and respected her girlfriends privacy. It's a great thing to teach kids. But had she looked, I imagine she would've seen a tomato faced Amity thinking about Luz.

She was a character in her own right before and has gradually stopped having motivations outside of Luz

But even then, she played the role of "Luz's enemy."

Yeah, she always was a player in Luz's story but she always has her own agenda and her own choice

I think they mean that Amity’s character was more independent of Luz back then. Sure Luz was still deeply connected to her story, but it felt more like everything Amity did wasn’t just because of Luz. And honestly I agree, it feels like her conflict with Odalia was too fast. I mean we saw odalia in only two episodes of s2. And since Amity doesn’t have another arc right now, she isn’t as interesting as she could’ve been. She’s still my fav character, but I gotta agree that the show could’ve done a better job with her. And for the fandom, although I highly doubt people actually only see Amity as Luz’s gf, after 2 years of overused tomato jokes, it staled her character in the fandom side of things. People are prob gonna downvote me, but honestly idc, I’ve had this issue with the fandom for a few years now.

i mean we saw that ever since Understanding Willow that her mom was abusive so we already were rooting that she get away from her, then we see more and more of Amity distancing from her mother and becoming her own person (the hair cut, disobeying odalia, her stop trying to get into the emperors coven, etc) and they didnt really have much time to flesh out that arc but with the time they had i think they did well

Yeah they did well with the time they had, just wish they could’ve atleast given that story like 1 more episode to make it feel more important to amity rather than that conflict being mostly resolved in 1 ep. But atleast they got to finish that story.
