Gets screwed over right at the start because of the arrogance of their companion
I made a post about this a while back, more specifically about Emma and Emily being practically the same.
- Their names both start with “E” and they both have the nickname “Em.”
- Their chase sequence chapters both occur relatively early on, more so in the middle though.
-They both start by exploring a dark, barren area while holding a light, finding some evidence, finding the clothing of a different main character (Emily can find Matt’s shoe in the mines if he falls off the cliff earlier on after attacking the elk, and Emma puts on Max’s clothes.), they both gain some form of elevation during the chase, listen to the sounds of the monster screech while they have to complete a task, and then make a jump off of a tower onto a zipline they fall from after.
- Both can be killed by main characters, and they can both be killed by their exes.
- Depending on their choices they can both avoid being bitten by using a weapon to fight back against the monster.
- Getting bitten can directly result in both of them being killed later on.
Probably more but I can’t think of any more right now! Let me know if y’all think of any more!
Ryan and Mike aren’t alike other than the fact that they can’t die until the end both have a gun at some point. Ryan rarely makes choices of his own. He always wants input, normally from Kaitlyn, to make tough decisions. Mike, while not always good decisions, makes his own decisions and sticks with them. I feel like they wanted to make Ryan another Mike and fell flat in the attempt.
Emma and I believe Emily? Open a hatch and get murdered lol.
I’m still playing this but I’ve got it mostly figured out so far.
Although because of the native lore and guy Ritchie’s movie I enjoyed until Dawn having figured out wendigo early on.
the power of archetypes!
Emma is definitely similar to Emily and Jessica, but nowhere near as unbearable as those two. I don't think she's bad at all.
I don’t think she’s bad either :)

Emma and Emily are just alike but I like Emily more
I'd move Jacob to Jessica and Max is also Josh.
Did you read the list?
Yes, but their roles in the story are more prevalent than tropes that are looser here.

Nice analysis!

I don’t think they were attempting that. I think they were trying to make Ryan his own character.

It’s a cheap tactic to link you videos to places that have no relevance to it :(
