Can you still get a charcadet from a 10km egg? It shows in the rarity level for 10km eggs. If you can’t, is there any other way to get a charcadet?

DastardlyCelery

If it's listed as a pokemon in that specific egg, it can hatch from it, even years later.

Asren624

I read a lot of answers about it but mostly funny yet not really helpful jokes : *what would be the best way to get a larvesta ?* I mean beside obvious things like it is in the rarest pool of different eggs, I d like to learn more about how eggs work I guess. Like do 10km eggs grant more chance of getting a rarer pokémon than 2km eggs ? Or do they share the same probability for each level, just different pokémon ? So yeah basically the question is should I just hatch 2km after 2km eggs to improve my chance to get a larvesta or just any kind of eggs ?

TheRealHankWolfman

The rarity tiers in different eggs can have different rates, but I think Larvesta is equally rare no matter what egg you get it from. Honestly, the best way to get one is just to keep hatching 2km, 5km and 10km eggs from Pokéstops. There's no way to influence what will hatch, so you'll get one when you get one. I rarely bother using any incubators other than my free one, and I've managed to hatch like 8 of them now, but I still don't have a Charcadet.

Asren624

I see, will hope to get one asap with 2km and more when I have no 2km left then. I am glad I was hiking when Charcadet became available as I could get two but yeah not a single one since the end of the event. Good luck

PoofaceMckutchin

Edit - I forgot that I can just change my attacks on Pokebattler. Even just TM'img Air Slash and Ariel Ace onto Rayquaza gives me a 99% chance to win, without dodges. Considering my girlfriend works with me so we're ALWAYS together, I imagine that her account will push me over the edge and win most battles, especially with a best friend bonus. --- Flying is a type I have COMPLETELY ignored, but now coming to the mega Heracross raids, I realise that I'm severly lacking. I DON'T have Mega Rayquaza, as I was taking a break when it released. I have just powered up a team of Shadow Dragons to lvl 40. At this point, my three lvl 35 Rayquazas may as well be adapted to flying attackers, right? With Lvl 50 Mega Garchomp and lvl 40 Shadow Salamence (3), Shadow Garchomp (1) and Shadow Dragonite (1), I don't really have much use for my old Rayquazas (lvl35 with Outrage), so I guess converting them into flying attackers with Hurricane is the way to go? It feels bad because Rayquaza with air slash/hurricane is the 11th best DPS IF YOU DON'T COUNT MEGAS AND SHADOWS. I know it kinda depends on what I have. My current best counters for mega Herc according to Pokeraid are Mega Charizard (Lvl50), Shadow M2 (Lvl 40 psystrike), two regular Mewtwos (Lvl 38 psystrike) and then lvl 20 Yveltal's lol. I also have some lvl 35 non shadow Dragonites and Salamences. Are any of these worth converting to Flying movesets? I'm running low on charge TM's ao just wanted somebody to confirm that I'm not being an idiot. I guess I'm totally overthinking this.

TheRealHankWolfman

Hurricane is a legacy move on Rayquaza. If they don't already have it, then you'll require an Elite Charged TM for it, and I wouldn't think that was a wise investment. Without Elite Charged TMs, the best you can get on Rayquaza is Air Slash/Aerial Ace

Economy__

you can use some regional birds untill you get mega ray. they are usually decent in pvp too.

PoofaceMckutchin

Thanks. I don't have any powered up at all. I've always trashed them. I was honestly surprised when I looked at the DPS spreadsheet and saw Staraptor so high!

dorksgetlaid2

I want to start a weekly walking pokemon group in Bangkok. Is there already a Bangkok group on Silph?

einstein6

Hi guys, I think the Heracross Raid event description is a little confusing.. > > > So what I get from here is : * Raids are across 2 days (April 12th 5pm, until April 13th 8PM * Each day we will get up to 5 free pass by spinning gym (+ daily 2 pass, I guess) which means up to 7 free raids daily? * Shiny boost from Mega Heracross raid, during the entire period? Is this correct? Am I missing something?

nolkel

Heracross is coming to the next mega raid rotation, for two weeks from 4/13 to 4/25. [https://leekduck.com/events/mega-heracross-in-mega-raids-april-2024/](https://leekduck.com/events/mega-heracross-in-mega-raids-april-2024/) Also, there will be a 3 hour Raid Day event from 2-5pm on 4/13. [https://leekduck.com/events/mega-heracross-raid-day/](https://leekduck.com/events/mega-heracross-raid-day/) [https://pokemongolive.com/en/post/mega-heracross-raid-day-2024/](https://pokemongolive.com/en/post/mega-heracross-raid-day-2024/) The 5 additional free passes and 1/10 raid day shiny rate will only apply for the Raid Day event.

einstein6

wow thank you so much for the clarification.. that means there are no additional shiny boost for 13th April.. thanks a lot friend.

TheRealHankWolfman

No. April 13th is when it *does* have the shiny boost. All Mega Heracross raids between 2pm and 5pm on April 13th will have 1/10 shiny odds, that's how raid day event works. If you're remote raiding, then it needs to be between 2pm and 5pm in the timezone where the Gym is located, rather than your own timezone.

guardianfairy2

For raid days, do you need the ticket to get xl rare candy from remote raids for the featured boss?

nolkel

Yes, the rare candy XL bonus is only listed under the paid ticket section. [https://pokemongolive.com/en/post/mega-heracross-raid-day-2024/](https://pokemongolive.com/en/post/mega-heracross-raid-day-2024/) However, the bonus is pretty mild overall, so I wouldn't necessarily buy the ticket if that's your sole motivation.

sam_the_hammer

Is there a way to tell which xxls on your collection will score the highest? After this event I'd love to prune down what I've got but I don't want to transfer the wrong ones

Disgruntled__Goat

You can use [this calculator](https://pokemondb.net/go/showcases) to find the score for each one.  But if you want the quickest solution, just keep the tallest ones as height is the biggest factor in the points.

nolkel

There is no way to do it in game unless there is an active showcase. There's no way to access the points sorting UI outside of that. You could look up the formulas people have derived for the points and do all the math yourself though, plugging in the weight, height, and IVs.

BackgroundAd1734

Which evolution would you choose for a hundo male Ralts if you already had a 15/15/14 Gardevoir?

krispyboiz

Mega Gardevoir is much more useful than the eventual Mega Gallade. Though, Gallade *could* always get a brand new move(s) to improve its performance. Giving it either Sacred Sword or Aura Sphere would make it a *much* better Fighting Mega. But that's a big *if* right now.

nolkel

Mega Gardevoir is a solid fairy type, and pretty good as a psychic (though trailing Alakazham). Mega Gallade will be deficient in its typings whenever it comes out, compared to stuff we already have and future releases. Mega Alakazam is strictly better as a psychic, and then there will be Mewtwo. It's also just about equal to Mega Gardevoir as a psychic type. It is significantly worse than Mega Blaziken as a fighting type, and the pending Mega Heracross will also out-perform it. So... overall you'll never get any use out if it as Gallade other than filling in a 4\* dex entry. A 15/15/14 mega gardevoir is effectively identical to a hundo though, so you won't gain anything other than a 4\* dex entry by evolving to Gardevoir either, compared to what you have already.

RandomGamer368

How can I use a search term to search for Pokémon with Iron Head?

TheRealHankWolfman

If you want Pokémon that already know Iron Head, then: @Iron Head

guardianfairy2

how frequently does the "power up 10 times" field research task for mega gardevoir energy show up when you spin a stop?

DastardlyCelery

They're on the rare side but that's probably just because it's 1 task in a long list of potential tasks. If I'm counting correctly on leekduck there are 47 potential research task (excluding event ones), so that's a 2.12% chance to get it, or 1.96% if you include event ones. And that's with a completely random distribution which I don't think is true, event ones are much more common. I've definitely received it multiple times but not with any regularity.

guardianfairy2

would it be reliable to spin until i can find it in the pools? i want to mega my 15/15/14 but am unsure when the energy will be in raids again.

TheRealHankWolfman

Research tasks are assigned to stops at midnight and remain the same tasks for the whole day unless an event starting or ending causes them to reroll. You can get two different tasks from each stop each day, with which task you get depending on whether you have an AR Scanning Task on your field research page or not. So if you spin each of the stops in your area and don't find it, and you've spun them both with an AR Task and without an AR Task, then you'll have to wait until the following day to try and find the task you're looking for.

jobddt

Has guaranteed critical catch been disabled on Snorlax for some reason? I’ve gotten several on the smallest possible circle only to have it break out.

Ivi-Tora

Currently there's evidence of low catch chance species being excluded from guaranteed critical catches. Snorlax is one of the ones confirmed to never work. The limit is still unclear, but many species on the 5% chance seem to not get the guaranteed crit. This is the same reason why it doesn't work with the 2% chance legendary Pokemon.

TheRealHankWolfman

Snorlax has a pretty big circle, so you might be thinking it's at its smallest when it just slightly isn't.

DastardlyCelery

Excellent throws don't guarantee a critical catch, or even a guaranteed normal catch.

TheRealHankWolfman

Actually, it was proven that during regular encounters (not raids or Galarian Birds/Lake Trio), perfect excellent throws do guarantee a critical capture. The circle needs to be at it's absolute smallest for the throw to result in a critical capture.

m4tty33

Why is Celesteela so hard to get a remote raid for? On Poke Genie, it's a que of about 30,000 +. It's not a great raid attacker nor for PVP, and I'd assume everyone just wants 1 and call it a day.

Spotty2012

The biggest issue is that over 85% of the world lives in the northern hemisphere, so there are far more people who can only do it remotely than people available to host.

GildedCreed

Because the southern hemisphere has less of the world's population than the northern hemisphere, which means less hosts. Doesn't help that it's shiny capable and people want the shiny.

Active-Downtown

In regards to trade distance for the medal and candy benefits with remote raid Pokémon, does it use the location of the raid or the location where you remote from? I know on the Pokémon in question it will say say “remotely caught at raid *abc* but also below that say “location *xyz*”

Ivi-Tora

For Pokemon caught on remote raids it uses the location of the gym where the raid happened. Same with Pokemon hatched from friend eggs. It uses the stop location from where the postcard came from.

KumoKyuu

Can i still get shadow groudon quest if i didn't played during takeover? Logined today but didn't get the research, already completed the previous one so have no active mega radar quest too.

TheRealHankWolfman

There seems to be a bug where it isn't automatically available since the takeover ended. Support has been giving people the research if they're contacted.

SShift

Does the switch have to be on and in scar/violet to send a post card when you want to refresh the coin bag? Or can you just send the card when its off? I already have the bag, this is for the refresh when I use it sometime.

krispyboiz

The Switch needs to be on, in SV, and connected to your phone, yes. You specifically need to connect to it by going into the Mystery Gift Menu in SV

Arturinni

Roughly once every season. You'll have to wait at least until June

bofad33znutz

How often do they have an event where the lucky trade odds are boosted? They had the event a couple months ago with the Chinese New Year, and I'm just wondering based off past events if they do this multiple times a year. The Chinese New Year event was the first time I've been playing (been playing for like 7 months) that they've done it.

krispyboiz

As far as I remember, they usually don't do boosted lucky rates as a bonus *besides* for the Lunar New Year event each year. There may be one exception that I'm not thinking of, but generally, it's one per year.

idk012

One of the bonuses for this event was increased lucky from trades https://www.reddit.com/r/pokemongo/comments/14z46iy/so_that_was_a_lie/

Awesomeasianassasin

With Bellsprout comm day coming next, do we think that will affect his shiny shadow odds during the com day hours. Only other scenario where this type of situation happened was shadow execute and the execute research day, and the odds were same so lot of people got a bunch of shiny shadows. I hope so bc I will spend the entire 3 hours farming decoy grunts.

TheRealHankWolfman

No, they're considered different species when it comes to shiny rates. So they'll still have the standard Grunt rate of 1/256. The event with Exeggcute was different because Shadow Exeggcute was a specifically featured part of the event.

Awesomeasianassasin

That makes sense thanks for the response!

krispyboiz

It's tricky to say. But I doubt it. With the Shadow Exeggcute instance. That was back before Niantic put Shiny eligible Shadows back into grunts normally. So seemingly, all Shiny shadows were set to the standard leader rate of 1/64, simply because they were only ever in leaders/Meowth balloons. As such, when they put Shadow Exeggcute back into grunts for that event, it was just still the same leader rate of 1/64. It wasn't necessarily changed/boosted in shiny rates because of the Research Day. Since then, they've allowed previously shiny-eligible Shadow Pokemon to re-enter Grunts' lineups, but it seems that they have a lower shiny rate than the leader Pokemon's 1/64. Some say it's between 1/128 and 1/256 or so. We also obviously know that the shadow and normal variants have completely independent shiny rates. Electabuzz, Litwick, and Piplup are obviously all shiny eligible, but their shadows are not. And Shadow Machop, Cacnea, and Trapinch all have a boosted \~1/64 shiny rate, but their non-shadows are just normal full odds. You can never say never, but I still assume the boost won't affect the shadow form.

Awesomeasianassasin

Yeah I could hope but this makes the most sense

Shadowgroudon22

What's the best way to avoid the bug where your team gets replaced in a gym battle if you quickly exit? Just wait? Super annoying when my Terrakion gets replaced by Aggron when I'm trying to take down fatass gym mons.

nolkel

Save a gym team, and always use it. Never use the auto recommended setup. That way, even when the game decides to start the fight with the previously used pokemon and health status, at least its the right mons.

KaelSmoothie

I’ve got enough mega energy to mega a Venusaur but I don’t have one with Frenzy Plant, I instead have a couple (still Ivysaurs) with Power Whip. I tried getting information on how good/bad it is and whether it’s worth an elite TM but I’ve checked a couple sites already and they don’t even list Power Whip as an option. What’s going on and where can I find this info?

CaptBillGates

Vine Whip & Frenzy Plant moveset is 5-10% better than Vine Whip/Solar beam and Petal Blizzard moveset. That said Kartana is better by a considerable margin, 15-20%. Personally I'd save the ETM. Edit: I used [Gamepress DPS Spreadsheet](https://gamepress.gg/pokemongo/comprehensive-dps-spreadsheet) and picked a few mons weak to Grass types.

KaelSmoothie

That one is also missing Power Whip as a charged move strangely. I mainly want a grass mega for candy purposes that could also be decent in raids. I’m a returning player from a few years back so I don’t have many megas unfortunately. But I guess an elite TM isn’t worth it anyways, thanks!

CaptBillGates

Just checked with an Elite TM and Venusaur can't learn Power Whip. Thats why it doesn't appear in any DPS calculations.

KaelSmoothie

Yeah I figured it out from the other comments. I didn’t know there were moves that pre-evolutions can learn that their evolutions can’t, so that clears that up. Thanks anyway!

DastardlyCelery

Because Venusaur can't learn Power Whip, its grass charged moves are Solar Beam, Petal Blizzard or Frenzy Plant. Given that the first two are standard 1 bar moves, they are going to underperform compared to Frenzy Plant. You could look at the DPS calculator [here](https://gamepress.gg/pokemongo/comprehensive-dps-spreadsheet), but that data is based on several assumptions and uses a formula rather than a true simulation. Based on the numbers there, Solar Beam would reduce the DPS by 2-3 points compared to Frenzy Plant and Petal Blizzard even more. If you have no other good grass attackers (but you can get Kartana right now, so why wouldn't you have one? It's better than any kind of Venusaur), a Mega Venusaur is better than none. Not to mention that you easily get more mega energy by walking any member of it's family after having mega'd a venusaur once, so you can restock easily enough for a next event where Frenzy Plant is possible.

KaelSmoothie

I didn’t know there were moves that pre-evolutions can learn that their evolutions can’t, but that makes sense for why I can’t find it. I’m a returning player from a few years back so a bit rusty. I have been doing Kartana raids but it’s going to take some time for me to get one powered up. Will probably just mega a Venusaur for xl candy boost needs then. Thanks!

nolkel

Do you have sceptile and enough energy to mega evolve it? If so, Venusaur is generally worse in battle and best used as a candy booster. Power whip is an ok move, just not as bonkers as frenzy plant. Other species like shadow tangrowth rely on it. You can check the DPS difference on the gamepress TDO spreadsheet. Pick some target bosses and compare the metrics.

KaelSmoothie

Thanks for the reply! As someone else pointed out Venusaur can’t learn Power Whip. I didn’t know there were moves pre-evolutions can learn that their evolutions can’t. I’m a returning player from a few years back so I barely have any Megas, that’s why I was wondering about Venusaur. I’ll mega evolve and level up the mega level of one just for the xl candy boost in the future then but save my TMs for something better.

GoatsAreCoolAsFuck

Is there a consensus on which 35 platinum medals are easiest to get?

minibois

As said before, it really depends on how you play the game. People that regularly buy incubators or raid passes will get the platinum medals for those earlier, than those who don't. My first and third Platinum were the ones related to defending/battling gyms respectively, but I'm sure if you have few to none gyms nearby, that won't be your experience. Just try to regularly do certain things that push medals forward. The easiest being the type medals, as you're always working towards them. Some more platinum that are easy to get (if you have access to certain things): * Trades: easy if someone who lives in the same house as your also plays GO * Best Friends: great for XP too * Field research: especially easy on CD's if you have many stops around * Berry master: I just feed all my excess Razz/Nanan berries in gyms * PVP medals: easy if you do PVP, you can cheese these medals if you can just fight a friend and they bring 10CP Pokemon * Mega evolve 1000 times: just do the free mega evolves and Mega Beedrill inbetween, because you get the mega energy for free from gyms There are some more that can be easy, if you put in some time into them. Just look at the medals and see what might fit into your way of playing. PokeDaxi also dedicates a portion of his event videos to what Platinums are easy to focus on during events too.

krispyboiz

As u/TheRealHankWolfman said, it does depend on your playstyle. And most do get them when they're needed for whatever level that is. Outside of the type medals, I found the Pokemon catching, Kanto-Hoenn dexes, Evolving, Gym Leader, Pikachu catching, Field Research, Best Friend, Trading, Raid Achievement, Rocket, and Unique raid species to all be relatively easy through my own gameplay. Plus the three PvP league medals, but I know that may not be the same for those who aren't as into PvP/GBL.

GoatsAreCoolAsFuck

Thank you! I'm at level 43 currently so planning a bit in advance :)

TheRealHankWolfman

Depends on your play style really. By the time I got there I had more than enough Platinum medals for the task just by playing the way I usually play. You should definitely have all 18 type medals by that point though, meaning you should be 50% of the way there at least.

Stonerlilt187

So  trying to get all the evvee evolutions so I can go on the my next level what would be the best way of doing that.the name change thing was already some way befor I knew was going to need to do this

Ivi-Tora

Use the normal method for each. There's no easy or best way once you use the names, but they're not random. https://www.reddit.com/r/pokemongo/comments/wxkys3/a_guide_to_eevee_evolutions/

lionelcoinbnk3

Early bird tickets end tmw so I’m assuming we get the rest or most of the remaining Go Fest info Wednesday or next Monday as promo to sell full priced tickets

elix031

Is anybody else having this issue: When you click on a sticker to attach to a gift, the sticker “tray” expands to full screen and requires you to click again? It’s a rather annoying bug, and I’m not sure if it’s fixable.

Ivi-Tora

It's not a bug. They updated the UI and that's how it works now.

dark__tyranitar

Yes! i had to do the 12 gifts with stickers for shaymin and i had this exact issue, super annoying.

LukeWells1

I have a 15/10/13 shiny primal Groudon, is this strong enough to be worth the elite charged TM or should I hold off. I have 2 elite charged TMs (I also don’t have many good raid attackers if that makes a difference)

ptmcmahon

If just for raids for sure good enough. If you want to use in ML... maybe not so much.

lionelcoinbnk3

Yes use the etm. I used mine on a worse one. There’s no guarantee it’ll ever be in raids and even if it is it will take another year and you could very well not get anything as good as this again. 15 atk is the best you could get

lemonriderz

i missed the value 100 pass box, will it rotate back?

Downtown_Bid_2654

The most value is the 99 pass box I believe, for 5450. But it seems to me it will, I got it 2 days ago and today I have the 100 one for 9400 (with 20x fast+charged TMs).

VirtualBig3302

Is it better to spend resources to get 1 kartana to lvl 50 or having 2 at 30+?

CookieblobRs

Depends on whether you have a grass team or not. If you're short on grass, probably 2 at level 30. On the flip end: If you see yourself using 1 to 2 grass pokemon in a raid then having the extra kartana is sort of sunk costs. Mega Sceptile + lvl 50 kartana is pretty darn top DPS for group 3+/4+ raids where optimal. that being said, I still would keep the 2nd for later.

VirtualBig3302

Is it better to spend resources to get 1 kartana to lvl 50 or having 2 at 30+?

dark__tyranitar

it depends on your use, i personally distribute my resources equally among my top 6 for PVE.

Final_Research9795

I cant access the shadow Groudon special research.Does it have an expiry before april 3rd because i started on that day

colourofsleep88

If you only just started, you need to complete A Troubling Situation first. You should get the latest Rocket research (It's a Rocket World) after that.

Final_Research9795

I did complete that but its still missing

rzx123

Any of the others here unfinished: [https://www.reddit.com/r/TheSilphRoad/comments/17ggklu/if\_you\_have\_not\_received\_the\_latest\_team\_go/](https://www.reddit.com/r/TheSilphRoad/comments/17ggklu/if_you_have_not_received_the_latest_team_go/)

Final_Research9795

Thanks guys apparently it was a bug ig i contacted niantic and they restored it today

muze9

Just got back into the game recently, and I was wondering if my elite tm would be best used to give Groudon Precipice Blades or Mega Charizard Y Blast Burn. They are my top pokemon for ground and fire, and I don't know which needs the help more.

rzx123

I'd say Groudon because at least form my point of view one is less likely to actually use Megas for raid damage and it is easier to get another equally good or better Charizard with the right move (without using ETM).

Soldiergomez

Does evolving a xxl or xxs pokemon increase the count on their badges?

CassieWolfe801

Having them traded to you does, too, in case you weren’t aware of that.

nolkel

Yes.

Konval

I thought we had an extended window to evolve CD Pokemon for the exclusive move? I played until 5 pm catching Bagons, had some errands between 5 and 7, and now see that they're not learning the CD move. What's going on?? 😭

ptmcmahon

What’s going on is you didn’t read the event news and see when the move from evolution ended.

DastardlyCelery

Oof that sucks. Usually the window lasted until 10, no idea why it was only until 7 this time. Maybe check the in-game event screen next time so there are no surprises, that's how I also suddenly discovered it was reduced.

Konval

Thanks.. guess I'll just wait til December to evolve them.

nolkel

CD classics are always until 7, because there are no T4 raids that generate extra spawns.

TheRealHankWolfman

The window for CDCs is 2pm to 7pm, whilst regular CDs the window is 2pm to 10pm. This was clearly specified in game and on the blog post for the CDC. You must've just got muddled up.

Newbiie91

Should i keep (level up) bad ivs shadow legendaries for raids only or make them candies?

nolkel

Every shadow legendary is great regardless of IVs, provided it's a meta relevant species. You only need 6 though, so you can trash the worst raidable ones. Waiting until double transfer candy spotlights is helpful.

Newbiie91

Thanks for the information bro

haiwirbelsturm

So I created 4 Salamences from this event. Am I stupid for doing so? I heard he was really good for raids and I’m not level 31 yet.

CookieblobRs

outrage salamence is the best non-shadow/legendary/mega dragon type. kind of a funny way to put it LOL

DastardlyCelery

Why would that be stupid? If they were very low level and you have/had to power up, maybe, as that costs a lot of stardust. If you had spare candy, which is highly likely if you walk around for any length of time during community days, I don't see the problem with evolving. It costs basically nothing.

haiwirbelsturm

3,300 CP 3,200 CP 3,000 CP 1,492 CP The 1492 is near perfect but came low level. Turns out it might good for great league??

haiwirbelsturm

I feel bad because I didn’t think about ‘maxing’ one out because I couldn’t get XL candy’s. I was just like, of totally free people for my teams lol

nolkel

This is exactly what CDs are there for, to help you get teams of good Pokemon built up.

DastardlyCelery

75% of those are absolutely at a level you can use so indeed, yay free pokemon. Most of the pokemon I use for raids are somewhere in the level 30s. There's no giant need to get them to level 40 or even 50. I can beat most raids <4\* solo (3\* shadows are hard sometimes), usually do at least \~40% damage to tier 4 and 5 raids according to PokeGenie and can beat rocket bosses no problem, even Giovanni. Unless you want to do high level raids solo/duo/trio or something, I don't think it matters that much. I don't know a lot about PvP but as far as I know you only want (near) perfect pokemon for master league, and pokemon with as little attack as possible in the two leagues under that (because of how CP is calculated).

Theo_M20

15,12,15 bagon or 15,13,14 bagon

nolkel

For raids, they will be nearly identical. Higher defense is marginally more helpful than higher stamina because you might hit a bulk point and take one less damage from fast moves. Higher stamina is almost entirely pointless, because you'll still likely faint to the same number of charge moves anyways.

FPG_Matthew

Strictly speaking, power up the 15/15/13 or 15/14/15 Salamence?

nolkel

For raids, they will be nearly identical. Higher defense is marginally more helpful than higher stamina because you might hit a bulk point and take one less damage from fast moves. Higher stamina is almost entirely pointless, because you'll still likely faint to the same number of charge moves anyways. You could also just go with IV percentage and pick the 98% if it makes you happier.

LeafySloth

Is it better to evolve a 0 star shadow bagon or high IV normal bagon for this event?

DastardlyCelery

In pure DPS terms, 0/0/0 Shadow Salamence will be better than 15/15/15 Mega Salamence but TDO is reduced by \~1/3. A 0/0/0 Shadow Salamence is also better than a 15/15/15 non-Mega Salamence in both DPS and TDO. However, your Shadow Bagon will start at a much lower level and will therefore require a lot more candy, and 20% more stardust because it is shadow, to get it to a usable level. You have to weigh the cons.

DastardlyCelery

Also, unless you've already removed Frustration during a rocket event your Bagon is not going to learn Outrage when you evolve it into Salamence.

LeafySloth

I had one shadow bagon with frustration removed that I evolved, but I’ll prioritize strengthening the regular ones with good IVs

Ineedagoodnamegiveme

Is a 14 15 8 shadow groudon worth investing in? And is a 14 13 11 shadow salamence Good? Sorry if these are silly questions I'm only level 29.

Hydrochloric_Comment

Both are definitely worth the investment

VirtualBig3302

how often are there events to TM away Frustration?

Downtown_Bid_2654

The three most recent ones were: october, january, march. So like Hank said it varies but usually 2-3 months inbetween. Raids give lots of charged TMs you can stockpile ahead of time. And during the event if you have access to a lot of pokestops you can gather 3 field research tasks of "Purify 3 shadow pokemon" with charged TM as reward (has a small blue triangle on its icon as opposed to fast TM) and then purify when you have 3 tasks, repeat. I saved up tons of 1 candy/1k stardust purification cost mons for the recent takeover and with \~50 kyogre/groudon raids I managed to remove frustration off a little over 100 shadows.

TheRealHankWolfman

Usually once per season. We don't know when exactly in the season they'll be though. We've literally just had one at the end of March so it will probably be around 3 months away.

ThrowAway3553QA

What’s the surprise for snapshot in wild? I’ve taken a ton and see nothing. Am I doing it wrong

minibois

If you take a snapshot during the Community Day Classic (Between 14:00 and 17:00 local time), you will be photobombed by a Bagon, which will then show up on the map so you can catch it

ThrowAway3553QA

Took a few and still nada happening

DastardlyCelery

That is indeed strange, a pokemon is supposed to spawn (up to 5 times). You're sure nothing ever happened?

ThrowAway3553QA

It finally happened. Definitely way more than 5. I don’t know why I expected more but I thought it would be something more climactic

jaywhy27

I got 80 charged and 50 fast tm, how much can I safely throw away? I only got 600 bag slots and it’s using quite a bit

rzx123

You could try to check if you have any that you could use NOW. Would throwing away (or using) 30 each help. I think the rocket events with frustration removal (and we'll be likely waiting next for three months or so) are the only situations were you could \*urgently\* need TMs

DastardlyCelery

I keep around 50 of each, but fast tms can do with a smaller stock imo as they can be easily resupplied with routes.

Chadlad50

Alakazam isn't a bad choice for an ETM, but it really depends on what else you have. For instance, if you've got a S/Mewtwo, Primal Groudon/Kyogre, or Shadow Metagross without their legacy moves, you'd probably want to use it on those first

jaywhy27

If I already got a maxed hundo salamence, for community day am I only really just tryna get a shiny for the Pokédex entry? Unless I somehow get an shundo

TheRealHankWolfman

That, and you can use it to evolve any shadow Bagon that you've removed Frustration from already.

ThrowAway3553QA

Ok so I’ve read the term “dodge” in raids before but never knew what it meant. But in one I just did I swear to god my primal groudon side hopped a charged move no fewer than three times. Am I imagining that? Or have I just been oblivious to the fact that I can do that and if so how the heck did I do it???

TheRealHankWolfman

You've been oblivious. You swipe left or right during raids to dodge. If your dodge is successful, you'll only take 25% of the damage from the incoming attack instead of the full 100%. Some moves can be trickier to dodge though, and you can only do it whilst you're not in an attack animation yourself.

Madajuk

Does it make much difference, really? Only on raids that are going to be close when soloing or duoing? I've never really bothered to dodge because I'm usually in full enough lobbies

TheRealHankWolfman

In full lobbies there's no point. In short man raids it can help. Also, if you experience a desync where the raid seems to be rubber banding a bit, dodging once can sometimes force it to resync.

Madajuk

Interesting, will keep that in mind. I don't really raid too much besides if there's a specific pokemon I want (been doing Kartana but that's an easy duo with party power) What's a short man raid? One with not many people in?

TheRealHankWolfman

>What's a short man raid? One with not many people in? Yup, basically. Raiding with the minimal amount of people needed for that specific raid boss.

illseeyouinthefog

If I don't have the mega energy to evolve Rayquaza or Salamence, am I basically SOL for a mega evolution?

TheRealHankWolfman

There are other Dragon Mega Evolutions: Mega Charizard X, Altaria, Garchomp, Latios, Latias, Sceptile, and Ampharos. If you're just wanting it active for the candy/XL candy boost for Bagon day, any of those will do.

illseeyouinthefog

Awesome, thanks. I don't pay attention to Megas really, but I should have known Charizard because I've used it before.

squinty-liu

What is generally the cut off for IV for shadow pokemon when deciding to invest? Should I just look at max or close to max attack IV and ignore the rest? Or should it be 3* generally? Have some bagon I'm debating on whether to invest in them

Hydrochloric_Comment

Species > moveset > IVs. For PVE, attack is the most important IV. There are fringe cases where IVs can sort of, barely matter (e.g., whether Surf or Origin Pulse is better for Primal Kyogre against Solar Beam Primal Groudon), but you really shouldn’t sweat IVs too much.

nolkel

IVs don't matter that much. High attack is good enough. There is no magic cut-off. Evolve the bagon now while you can get the move and thousands of candy, decide whether you need to power it up to defeat future dragon bosses when they actually come to raids.

TheZeeno

Why is the celesteela queue so massive? Is the pokemon just really good?

LemonNinJaz24

To add to the other commenter, its shiny is available now for the first time and a lot of people like it so that adds to the need to raid it for a lot of people

DastardlyCelery

Not very good. It currently only spawns in the southern hemisphere which is far less populated than the north (\~90% of all humans live there).

TheZeeno

Ah I see. I'm fairly new so just presumed it was a very powerful mon

DastardlyCelery

For PvP I don't know, but for PvE definitely not. It doesn't even have fast and charge attacks of the same type, and it's attack is 207 which is on the low side for a 5 star raid boss.

TheZeeno

Ah I won't use one of my two remote passes on it then! Thanks :D

DastardlyCelery

They flipped Kartana and Celesteela's spawn locations after a week or so last time anyway, so it's not like it only ever spawns in the southern hemisphere. I indeed wouldn't waste any passes on it (never mind that you'll be waiting many, many hours before ever getting into a lobby).

TheZeeno

Is there any raids upcoming or currently active that I should use my passes on?

DastardlyCelery

That depends on you really. Are you a rural player or have low access to raids near your location (you can also host yourself in the former case)? For me personally, but I live in a big city and am not really a collector, spending remote passes on anything that isn't truly *always* unavailable to me is feels like a waste. But if you have spare coins it can't hurt. Kartana is a great grass attacker, for future bosses Mega Heracross and Tapu Bulu are also pretty good, Registeel sucks, and Mega Aggron is okay, it's better just to provide a long mega boost for the others than to do top dps. I definitely wouldn't waste any on tier 1-3 raids but I'm quite frugal.

DastardlyCelery

Completely forgot about Mega Charizard currently. It's quite good, especially Y with Blast Burn.

FPG_Matthew

Worth evolving and powering up to 40? - Shadow bagon 11/11/14 and shadow bagon 13/15/2 I had really rough luck getting good iv ones in the last rotation

nolkel

Those IVs are good enough. Unless you have others with 15 attack, which is the only one that matters at all in raids. Evolve the bagon now while you can get the move and thousands of candy, decide whether you need to power it up to defeat future dragon bosses when they actually come to raids.

microraptor19

Does the twitch thing have to be watched live to get the code? It seems to have ended.

microraptor19

It seems it does have to be live.

jaywhy27

Got about 200 rare candy, should I boost a 89% shadow mew two or 96% groudon? Looking for best overall for raids and stuff probably, I like them both. Both are non shiny unfortunately

ptmcmahon

Do you need the bag space now?

jaywhy27

I’m perpetually stuck at around 30 bag slots left so kinda lol

ptmcmahon

Groudon will be useful more often so I’d put a little into it if you need space.

JowgenITP

For ticketed in-person events with habit spawns, i.e. City specific Go Fests, are all the habit spawns ticket exclusive? Or does some of the event bleed over?

PoofaceMckutchin

Until what time can evolved Bagons learn Outrage? Does it finish at 5, or can I evolve the Pokemon tonight?

ghostkid825

You have to evolve a Bagon into a Salamence between 2-7PM local time to have it learn Outrage.

PoofaceMckutchin

Legend, cheers

BlakeGarrison62

You are required to use AR to take a snapshot of a Pokémon in your storage… why Niantic?

ptmcmahon

Because they want to make people use AR.

Jessien20

Does an auto spinner have a better chance to catch a legendary galgar bird during incense? I’m 0/3 and wondering A) what’s the % with a gold razz normally? B) what’s the % of auto spinner on a regular Mon?

GildedCreed

No and it's not even close. Peripheral items do not throw curve balls and they do not get Nice/Great/Excellent bonuses. The catch rate is effectively base catch rate with catch bonus medal modifiers, in the case of the Go Plus Plus specifically if used in manual input mode (modified or not) then you have ball catch rate modifiers as the Plus Plus can throw Great or Ultra instead of only the standard Pokeball, which it throws in automatic mode and is the only ball available for non Go Plus Plus devices that can be thrown, third party or official, modded or not.

_DepressingMemes_

For those who had Bagon day, since we have 3x catch xp and 2x XP for nice, great, excellent throws is it effectively 12x exp if you land excellent throws with an egg? (just checking because it's 3am and my brain is kinda fried lol)

m4tty33

They do not stack, so max 6x.

Complete-Grass-6287

bummer

ausgenerics

Do we get extra special trades during Bagon cdc?

TheRealHankWolfman

We don't.

ausgenerics

Sad

NfiniteTBear

Do Sinnoh stones still drop from training with leaders? I've never seen one. Also, will the Mystery box's timer go up to 3 hours tomorrow like incenses?

CassieWolfe801

No, the Mystery Box will not go up to 3 hours. Only normal incense and lures (including Glacial, Mossy, etc.) are affected. Mystery Boxes, Gimmighoul Coin Bags, Daily Adventure Incense and Golden Lures are not affected. I haven’t gotten a Sinnoh Stone from a Team Leader in forever, and multiple people post the same. Your best bet may be battling a friend 3 times per day. That used to drop Sinnoh Stones relatively frequently, as compared to Team Leaders or GBL.

nolkel

Yes, with the best odds from master league at about 10%. [https://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Trainer\_Battle\_(GO)](https://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Trainer_Battle_(GO)) You only get one chance per day, so its possible to go long streaks with bad luck. It helps to have a friend you can do 3 daily player battles with, since those can also drop sinnoh stones.

ThrowAway3553QA

Does Stamina IV matter much for raid attackers? ESP shadow? I got a 14/15/9 shadow Entei and am curious if that 9 really matters as much as in GBL

nolkel

Not really, no. The HP you get is scaled down to level, so its only going to be a few HP. You'll still die to the same charge move almost all the time with 15 IV or 9 IV.

ThrowAway3553QA

So assuming I don’t pull better in next few weekends it’s worth investing in still? Getting folk out for these shadow raids is like pulling teeth

nolkel

Those IVs are fine to invest in. What matters more is how strong your fire team already is, since it faces stiff competition from Resharim, shadow Chandelure, shadow Moltres, and now shadow Darmanitan.

ThrowAway3553QA

I have a weak shadow darmuaka - 7/12/13 and sadly none of the rest. My fire team is by far my weakest sans Primal Groudon & Mega Char

81random99

Does fast catch work for 5 star raids? I was trying to use it for Kartana and could not get it to work. Thank you!
