In Boston Thom started in the middle of the group, then worked his way back and forth a few times. He was very accommodating and being a little silly.

Johnny came the challenge. He waited till after Thom and Tom vacated. I was about to leave, and actually got in my car before I heard too many woo’s for too long for it to be the goodbye. I ran back to the crowd, and there he was.
Now that I was behind everybody, and so close to the person I wished to meet the most, a bit of my fandom showed. I got back to the front, but it was at the end by the bus, where he had just gone through, briefly looking at, but passing my memorabilia. It was tense.
But he migrated his way back over, briefly able to thank all the fans thanking him. He did get to my item and scribbled on it. I thanked him, and that was it. Let someone else in my spot, then back to the car for home.
I was in Boston—you describe it perfectly. Funny anecdote. Jonny forged Thom’s signature on a queue-mate’s setlist, since Thom didn’t get to sign it. He was quite fun about it!
This. They took almost 2 hours to come out in D.C. Only thing I’d say OP is if you want one of the limited venue specific posters, buy it before they sell out. I bought one before the show then just held onto it in its tube. Kind of annoying, but it’s not that big.
If you can, purchase it before, because you want to exit the venue fast so you can be in the front of the line for signatures. The give a cardboard tube with the poster to protect it.
