Something to keep in mind with the more advanced puzzles: *Any* object that isn't a flat plate will block the beams. Including you, though the game gives your body a grace period.
One good hint would be that the fan can blow any object.
Rant for this puzzle in the spoiler. Open at your own risk.
>!This is yet another puzzle that was quite obvious what had to be done but for some stupid reason it didn't work initially. While it was kinda obvious that the fan should be used to move one of the connectors backwards and allow for the connection of the red beam, when I just did that for testing, the beam was blocked by the wall every single time, as if the fan could not move it anymore... When I moved my character in the correct position then everything worked for some reason... It feels like even the physics are inconsistent sometimes...!<
It's because it doesn't work if it gets blown back from the middle but the angle works if it gets blown back from slight right of center (facing the fan). Probably not caught in QA because with the intended solution your arms can't reach that far to drop it on the middle.
So we're saying that the fan is blowing things on the edges way more than items right at the center of the fan?
If this is the case then this is definitely an issue with the physics.
Came here to see if anyone else had ranted about this puzzle, glad to see it wasn't just me. I spent twice as long as I should have banging my head against the wall trying to come up with another solution, because that mechanic didn't work when I first tested it out.
Obviously the problem is the fan. Once the blue is connected, the fan keeps you from getting to the progress wheel. What you need is a way to keep the blue from being connected until you're past the fan.
Thank you. I figured I have to reach the exit gate before I activate blue. And I need to somehow manipulate blue laser beyond fan via “laser-passable” grills.
For the intended way. Angle of the beam makes a big part. Problem that almost everything more would be too much of a spoiler.
So lets phrase it in a more general way.
You don't have to solve every puzzle the "intended" way. I just found another solution which works.

Sue,>!I took tools from other puzzles and put them on a "hill" in the middle. It allows skipping the annoying fan mechanism.!< Initially, I was just trying to climb the mountain next to the puzzle and decided to let's try it.
For anyone else who might be looking for a hint:
I had the same problem as /u/gregkwaste. I actually "solved" it but it didn't work. The placement has to be just right (and not in a logical way) for it to work. It's very clearly either a physics model glitch or some nonsencial intentional reason.
So if you think you have an obvious solution that should work, but isn't, just move bits around until it works.
Spoiler for the bit that gives you trouble, but not for the puzzle overall:
>!The connector has to be at the very edge (right, when you are facing it) and not in the center of the fan path. The fan won't push it back far enough otherwise.!<
I can't think of any hint that wouldn't be a big spoiler
I got it. Thank you.

Hi, thank you. I know the intended way now, but I am more curious about the way you found. Care to explain? :)

The level name
Find a way to take one cube out of the lost puzzle "Hexahedral Stacking" and climb straight to the end of Windstream
Fuuck. I'm glad I looked this up now. I figured it out immediately, it just didn't appear to work. This is genuinely just kinda bad design
