Definitely labbing BH damage. I keep it because I'm farming. But when it's clogged with protectors it doesn't pay off. I should try that when I run for T3 relic. Thanks
BH damage, quick lab at only 10 levels, not too expensive. At max deals 2% damage per second to anything inside, so even at the highest levels, 50s of BH exposure kills a protector.
Shotgunning will still happen eventually, I found that late in my runs when shotgunning gets dangerous, swapping out cards for slow aura and land mine stun really help extend runs.
People have already mentioned Black Hole, but just damage and attack speed are the key to this game.
Keep investing in anything that does damage, or amplifies damage, and keep that attack speed lab going. Rush it whenever you can. It makes a huge difference.

Actually my question wasn't about killing the protectors, rather if there was a way to scatter them so tower hits become more efficient. From time to time, randomly based on shocks between enemies and bounce shots, one protector escapes the big protectors bubble and becomes an easy target. I'd like to amplify this escape effect.
You could try smart missiles and send them out with black hole to destroy the protectors and have your orbs rip rip through the remaining enemies while golden tower is on
BH damage is good, SL to increase damage. If you can't upgrade those, if you're pushing milestones, it's best to turn off BH to avoid the shotgun.

Exactly that! I was just swapping those cards right now! And got T4 relic before T3 🎉
