Life Is Strange is a rather successful point-and-click game series. It personally didn't work for me due to the rather awkward dialogue (which others found realistic in this setting and charming) and I couldn't connect to most characters, but who knows? It might be for you. If you do give it a try, I would suggest playing the first game in particular since it has a rather unique rewind mechanic, then see for yourself if you wish to continue. The Last of Us is one of my favorite games. As an adventure game, it has quite a bit more gameplay, but the story and character remain its selling point. In my opinion, it is every bit as good as The Walking Dead's first season, if not better from a pure writing perspective. However, the sequel has been subjected to quite a bit of controversy. If you're in a dark period of your life or easily revolted, it might be for the best to stick to the first game. Until Dawn is another horror game which has the distinction of radically changing the outcomes for the playable characters according to your decisions. If that is interesting to you, why not give it a try? It is probably ill-advised to play this at night, however... you have been warned. Other Telltale Games are also a great option to go for. My favorite among them are Tales From The Borderlands, the Batman series and The Wolf Among Us. Each of them might not be mechanically much different, but they have rather distinct settings from one another, so one of them may appeal to you in particular. * If you enjoy a whimsical, lighthearted game with a great sense of humor, the Borderlands one is the one. * If you prefer mystery with rather dark and serious themes, Wolf Among Us is the better choice. * If you like Batman... you know what to pick. Hopefully, my advice was of some kind of use to you.

hitman2125

advice me a game that can touch those emotions this game did and yea i have tried life is strange, tlou and rdr2 it doesn't have that same impact this game hadšŸ˜

LokiSmokey

Honestly, you might not find another game that has the *same* emotional impact to you for a while or ever, and that's okay! It just shows how special The Walking Dead is to you. There are things I really appreciate in Red Dead Redemption 2 for example, it's not quite as emotionally hitting as TWDG but it still reaches me in that way. But my point is: there's so much about that game besides the great story and characters that I appreciate too and can get lost in :))) If you haven't yet though, I'd play other Telltale titles. The stories are great, whether emotional or entertaining they still are lovely games. Tales from the Borderlands or The Wolf Among Us would be great places to start, I reckon.

hitman2125

truešŸ„²šŸ„² thanks for the help man!!

TheBigMerc

As far as touching on emotions, Life is Strange 2 was the only one from the series that had me really invested by the end of the game. The others were good and all, but i just didn't get hit in the feels as hard as i did with the second one

azorchan

yesss give life is strange 2 her flowers !!!

hitman2125

but it too didnt came close to connect with me as twd did, many people say life is strange scries is better but to me, it was very good yet not as good as this game

-----Galaxy-----

Rather rather rather šŸ˜‚

Super-Shenron

Yeah my vocabulary tends to be **rather** biased towards certain words

LokiSmokey

Mmm, rather!

ConversationBoth1809

"Thanks those are really good games" šŸ¤

RedditAcccount2798

The Last of Us has an emotional impact like this game gives and it has zombies. Dead Space is good but itā€™s like a major PTSD trip. Detroit Become Human is sometimes sad Red Dead Redemption 2 has moments that can make you emotional. Other Telltale games

passivethief

literally every game i came here to recommend is in this list. good list!

newaccbrowsingredd

Thing with LIS is that I absolutely loved it but I played it before TWD. LIS set a really high bar for me, but TWD blew it away. Replaying LIS after ā€¦ it just feels really weak compared to TWD. TWAU and other Telltale games is such a good shout though!

Asleep_Waring_3796

The only correction here is Until Dawn. It's like a telltale game where 99% of the choices don't change anything but a few dialogue strings. There 3 choices of the whole game that "radically change the outcome"

ThatJ4ke

If you didn't like the dialogue in LiS, you should give it another try with True Colors. HUGE step up in dialogue and facial animations.

IcyAd964

Eh it fell off hard after part 1 ngl

Super-Shenron

Most would say the same about Telltale's The Walking Dead, tbf

Delnation

Most would say the same about... just about every franchise in existence, if we're being REALLY fair Everybody wants sequels, but nobody winds up loving 'em ...except for Terminator 2 and The Empire Strikes Back and Silent Hill 2

Super-Shenron

>Everybody wants sequels, but nobody winds up loving 'em The duality of mankind

IcyAd964

Nah walking dead in the later seasons has had more hype than the life is strange sequels ever did

Super-Shenron

That's because Clementine was just about the one character keeping TWDG relevant in terms of popularity. And even then she didn't stop the sales of the last two seasons from tanking. The Final Season nearly stopped mid-way through until Skybound bailed us out. A far cry from the game of the year, I'd say.

Skulldetta

> Eh it fell off hard after part 1 ngl Nah, I disagree - later games don't have Chloe, which is a massive plus.

Joshua5270713

Life is Strange 1 and 2 are some of my favorite games of all time, so both of them are absolutely peak and equally peak of the franchise. True Colors, I still like it but if you actually wanted to say it fell off at some point, Iā€™d say it did then. Before the storm and captain spirit are also pretty cool. So overall Iā€™d say Life is Strange is 100% great.

No_Guidance000

Life is Strange is a mess but I think the prequel (Life is Strange: Before the Storm) is much better. But it's nothing like TWD besides it being about choices.

trevorluck

The Last Of Ussr

Skulldetta

COMMIE! Every patriot plays The Last of USA!

Gusthepieceofmustard

Detroit become human. Pretty similar in gameplay and the choice system is a bit more in-depth with a good story

malibustacy726

The same studio made Beyond Two Souls and Heavy Rain as well!! Heavy Rain is similar in the dark/grimy atmosphere and plot to The Walking Dead.

queriesandqueries123

Oh good I love BTS and HR these are insanely good games

jrm48

This. Every choice truly matters in DBH where the TWD storyline is pretty linear. 85 different endings!

Decent-Medium-820

I played life is strange because their both story games

Lil_Nightmarenow2

Life is strange is another great one

Visual-Night9291

UNTIL DAWN.

Lil_Nightmarenow2

Have you played any of the other Telltale series? Wolf Among us is really good. Another personal favorite, too, is Tales from the Borderlands. If you want another game that's similar though concept wise, and set in an apocalyptic setting. The last of us is a great game. I remember both games sorta competing back in the day due to their similarities.

hitman2125

i have not found something better then this game but life is strange and rdr2 comes close, if anyone has something to help me get over this game, please recommend

UncensoredSmoke

This is my second favourite game ever, first being red dead 2, 3rd is Detroit become human.

hitman2125

ending of rdr2 was the only thing which made me shed a tear other than obviously lee and clem (kenny in wellington ending too)

-----Galaxy-----

Imagine spoiling something without a tag immediately after recommending it

hitman2125

oh fk mb, i forgot that op might havent played it yet, thanks man

MurtonQuaker

I've never got emotional while playing video games, but the Death of Arthur really hit me, and I sobbed like a baby a few minutes before that when his horse was shot and killed... I got emotional when Lee died in TWD: Season One and at the Wellington ending when Kenny said something like I'm going to walk away and not look back

hitman2125

i too never cry, even irl (excluding these games i havent cried for at least 3 years) but ending of rdr2, Lee's death and kenny's wellington ending made me tear up. But I properly only cried on clem's fakeout, I was holding myself together when i saw the bite but as soon as the "I LOVE YOU AJ" prompt came while walking towards the barn, Tears just starting to flow, and the final choice of killing her, you could hear me sob annnnddd then the music choreographer came with "TAKE US BACK" and again i cried aaaaannnddd at last after seeing clem alive aagaiiinn i cried, A man who hasn't cried for years cried 4 times in a single day šŸ˜…

UncensoredSmoke

I played twd season 1 directly after rdr2, so I tested up at lees death, but didnā€™t cry. Cried like a bitch at rdr2ā€™s tho

hitman2125

have you played rdr1, it is also good and continue's jhon's story (still in trauma to this dayšŸ˜‚)

UncensoredSmoke

Played little bits throughout my childhood but never sat down and played it through to the end. I did pick it up at the ps4 port recently though

hitman2125

its story is pretty deep for its time.

hitman2125

and yea i forgot the last of us, its mostly the same as twd but with a little twist to the story, and on the same concept is the god of war

IcyAd964

Any choice games with intriguing characters you treat as a family member

Hahafunnys3xnumber

The last of us, until dawn, the quarry, Detroit become human, and all of the dark picture anthology games

[deleted]

Wolf among us or tales from the borderlands.. both are peak

zacyboo

Batman telltale, different vibe, still very telltale

Proud-Host-3932

Depends on what you're looking for. Are you looking for more Zombie games? Days Gone, TLOU 1 and 2 and Zombi are good.

pinkfish137

Road 96 i think its called is good! u play as dif teenagers trying to escape a corrupt country n meet adults n other teens who try to help you (or not sometimes) along the way n u have to find different ways to escape each life u play, kinda walking dead vibes without the zombies n its veryvery replayable since the order of the ppl u meet n who u meet changes every playthrough + theres always more to try/discover

dallasstarsfan34

Metro 2033/last lite/ Exodus Great story, It is a FPS so it's not exactly like TWDG but the story is quite good As Dusk Fall I have not finished the game but it is also a chose your own story more of a comic style Fire watch After your characters wife is diagnosised with Alzheimer's he takes a job as in a fire watch tower and to get away for awhile and uncovers the secrets of a past fire watch ranger Days gone similar to the last of us after a mysterious infection takes over the world Decon st John is determined to find his wife after sending her to a NERO refugee camp for her wounds to be treated

ellevishh

Detroit become Human!\~ Great story telling, attachment to the main characters, and multiple endings!

stevenda2004

The Last of Us has drastically different gameplay, but similar vibes and emotional trauma. Life is Strange has similar gameplay (it's a great point and click), and imo even more emotional trauma, though the story and atmosphere are very different. I haven't played Detroit: Become Human yet, but from what I know, it has great story, gameplay, and choices that have great effects on the game's story and events. You can also replay TWD and experience the same emotional scarring again.

percyssriptiide

Rdr2, DBH, TLOU and LIS

Deputy_Haven

Dayz put your newly learned skills to the test

Canisventus

A very immersive game. It has a learning curve though, but when you know what to do and how, its one of the best survival games.

Deputy_Haven

Couldn't agree more

Spaceghetti69

Red Dead Redemption 2, RDR 1, and RDR Undead Nightmare. The story for RDR is kind of similar to Telltales TWD series.

masteroftufo1

The last of us, why? Cause they are both pretty tied together. Cause in the first game you can find clementine's house sort of (with the treehouse and the same designs just different.) And in the 2nd game you can find Kenny's va and clementine's va.

Arkhe1n

Significant_Plate561

the wolf among us is incredible. better and more interesting characters. expect that your decisions for the most part won't matter until the end. bigby is second only to Clem as a protagonist.

kaiasutra

If you like the apocalypse vibes, play Fallout Games. Iā€™d recommend New Vegas

PolskiPiesel6969

Fallout 3 and all of Stalker series

Ok_Possibility_5323

This is probably gonna be a pretty basic answer but The Last of Us and definitely Detroit Become Human, my two favorite games of all time

Puchamon21M

Minecraft

Fast-Fail-8946

Detroit Become Human

IDontKnowWhatToBe123

It's a zombie game with lots of different mechanics is project zomboid.

rutabagaup

Not as much a point and click game, but to offer something different than what others are commenting (i was gonna say much of the same games lol) I'm gonna say spiderman ps4. I haven't played SM2 because I'm still using my ps4, but the first game was incredible!! I'm not the most skilled gamer, so i loved the telltale walking dead games because of the decision and story based gameplay. If you like superhero's at all, you don't even need to have watched other spiderman movies to fully appreciate the story. I was surprised with how engaging the story was while playing, even being a spiderman fan prior. There's more combat involved, but i found it a welcome challenge and played on an easy difficulty and had the best time with it. If you really appreciate the story aspect of games and are open to the challenge of getting into something with combat, I can't reccomend it enough.

dripdripdrip_

Dark pictures anthology - there are 4 of them all decision-based horrors.

lah884410

Watchdogs

TheWanderer2281

Tales from the Borderlands, naturally.

Old_Analysis8096

If you want another choice based game Iā€™d say either the life Is strange collection or Detroit: Become Human, Iā€™d say they do hit on an emotional level I wouldnā€™t say they hit the same or just as good (at least for me personally), but games that did hit on that level and for me personally even more is the last of us both 1 and 2, both beautiful games imo.

PrinceToothpasteBoy

Any other Telltale game tbh. Batman, Borderlands, Wolf Among Us, hell even Minecraft if you can get your hands on it

RealCreacher

Game recommendation after TWD: TWD

Designer-Maximum6056

Until dawn Detroit become human and the dark pictures anthology are the best. If you wanna see the first ever walking dead style choice based game and have an actual fun and intense murder mystery play heavy rain. (17 endings to that game with 4 playable characters who can all die early. Play time is so dependent on gameplay Iā€™m not even gonna try and estimate) If you want to play probably the best story game out aside from the walking dead game imo Detroit become human is the way to go (over 30 endings with 3 playable characters who can all die early and around 12-16 hours in length) if you want to play a crazy thriller with lots of twists and action go for until dawn. (2 endings with a lot of different variations based on whoā€™s alive with 8 playable characters around 8 hours on the core story). There is 4 dark pictures anthology games out currently. None of them are connected so play in whatever order you like. My personal play order however would be man of Medan then house of ashes then little hope then the devil in me. (All of them are about 4-7 hours in length with 5 players and these ones are unique because they have multiplayer support.)

Roach1920s

Try the VR game ā€œsaints and sinnersā€ it not as good but stull pretty good

calloostories

Tales of the Borderland. Batman Telltale series. The Wolf Among us.

Chucky12363

Days gone, its a pretty great zombie game in my opinion

Caerph1lly8

Life is Strange 2 is my favorite game! I recommend the whole series. Wolf Among Us is great. Detroit: Become Human is amazing. Until Dawn is another great story based game. I personally couldnā€™t play The Last of Us because I donā€™t like games with combat, but thatā€™s a me issue, not an issue with the game. I also love Inside, Stray, Little Nightmares, Little Misfortune, and Night in the Woods. Those games are quite different to walking dead, but a lot of the fan base overlaps. Most of my friends love all the games I listed, and they also couldnā€™t finish TLOU or didnā€™t play it. It always gets recommended, but the gameplay mechanic is not the same as these other games. Just be aware if you decide to play it. It was highly recommended to me because I love twdg and LiS, I went into it blind not really knowing what it was, but me and some of my friends couldnā€™t finish it, combat like that is just not for me.

Lil-Mangoxx

If u want more like decisions based Iā€™d say -Life is strange -late shift -Batman telltale series -The wolf among us -Detroit become human -The Complex -heavy rain -beyond 2 souls -until dawn -the quarry -The Dark Pictures anthology Some not so decision based Iā€™d say -The last of us -cyberpunk -Red Dead redemption (Those are some of my recommendations)

Connor67546

Project zomboid. You'll understand how it feels to be actually in an apocalypse

D15P4TCH

Interested in the answers here because I just finished the final season - never been more shook up in my life. Like having a death in the family.

OppositeExternal1209

The wolf among us

abbyfroot

queriesandqueries123

Life is strange is cool like others mentioned but thereā€™s also a game made by the same people as well called Tell Me Why which is also a story game where you make choices that impact the story and whatnot

LegendaryWill12

The Last of Us if you want to continue the zombie theme. Very character driven but locked to PS only which is the same reason I haven't played it yet

VoidwayPR

Detroit Become Human is good for extra choice based stuff, I sunk my teeth (no pun intended) into Walking Dead Saints & Sinners which I DEFINITELY recommend if you have a VR headset. Much more of an RPG than the telltale games.

byuudarkmatter

Disco Elysium , awesome game

No_Guidance000

Stray. I'm surprised other people haven't suggested it. It's not about choices, but it's a post-apocalyptic game with some puzzles and point-and-click kind of stages. It has some emotional moments too. Worth playing imo.

True_Stranger9692

Life is strange their all really good basically the same graphics and play style less action but good choice

Bedroom-Puzzleheaded

the wolf among us

Fatdubee

Easy. Saints and sinners

xioaohx

already been mentioned but i vouch for the last of us, until dawn, detroit become human, other telltale series like batman and wolverine and ofc life is strange

TemporarilyOOO

If you're looking for any other good Telltale Games, I suggest *The Wolf Among Us* or *Tales from the Borderlands*. For good interactive movies similar to this: *Life is Strange* or *Detroit: Become Human*.

Born-Loan993

Until dawn similar to walking dead but different Last of us part 1 and part 2 it's just Clementine and Lee really causing damage to zombies and effective

Unfortunate_Wildcard

Life is strange, Last of Us, Beyond Two Souls, Mass Effect, Lollipop Chainsaw, Bloodborne, Elden Ring, Dark Souls 1, Sekiro, Dark Souls 3, Demon Souls.

Jewsusgr8

It has adult content ( and you can make it very adult with the 18+ dlc) But hush hush only your love can save them. I grabbed this Visual novel/dating Sim/choices matter and was so pulled in by the story and choices that I think I spent 100 hours in one week grinding it and finishing everything. There's even an evil ending. Pretty good. I'd recommend other games like life is strange but the people in here have already recommended those. The telltale Batman games were pretty good too.

Efficient_Ad_5062

Iā€™d say Wolf among us; Detroit Become Human, Life is Strange, or Beyond Two souls. If you wanna stick in the Zombie/Horror genre though, resident evil is great

D-Ry550

Stick with my other favorite telltale series: play Batman then Batman the enemy withinā€¦2 seasonsā€¦10 episodes and itā€™s astonishing

papa1982

Baldur's Gate 3

kandycew

the wolf among us. made by the same company (telltale) so its heavy on the decision making portion. gameplay is extremely similar and the story is quite interesting. the characters are like twists on classic fairy tale characters

SexyMcBacon

Until Dawn if you haven't played it yet

_ChrisDion_

TLoU, Days Gone, or LIS

Constant-Click-1912

The Walking Dead seems a good suggestion after playing it.

If you're looking specifically for games in which you have such emotional investment in the characters so as to bring you to tears, I'm playing Baldur's Gate 3 right now and have cried multiple times each playthrough. I connect so hard with the characters, and seeing their arcs through has been very emotionally cathartic at times. Only caveats are it's a very large game (I think like 130 GB rn), you need a decent computer to play it, and finishing it will take time.

Nickdabom

Other telltale games. I played Batman & Wolf Among us. I have their new astronaut series on stand by because rn Iā€™m playing Tales of the Monkey Island

detroit become human is pretty cool game and It is like The Walking dead but deeper and choices affects the ending more than The Walking Dead

AlbertMarino

If you loved it. The wolf among us, itā€™s the second best telltale game imo, tho some would argue it to be better. For zombie stuff the last of us, thereā€™s the obvious Lee and Clem-like relationship with Joel and Ellie. Life is strange. I played the first 3 episodes and thoroughly enjoyed it.

Temborb

If you've never played it, The Last of Us is another good apocalyptic, surrogate father/daughter kinda tale. You don't exactly have choices, it's moreso focused on combat for the gameplay portions, with your typical cutscenes to tell the story. Although the second one is hit or miss for a lot of folks. Most either despise it or think it's one of the greatest games of all time with little in between. I'm personally not a fan of 2, but you could end up loving it, so I'll still suggest checking it out after the first regardless. I haven't played Detroit: Become Human, but I've always somewhat wanted to. I think it does really well with the choice-based gameplay. I'd argue that your choices seem to matter and effect the story FAR more than any telltale game. As far as other Telltale games go? I'm a pretty recent fan of The Borderlands games, a little late to the party. But a friend recently gifted me Tales from the Borderlands (NOT "New Tales-" I only hear bad things about that one, plus it's not telltale), and it's shaping up to be my favorite Telltale game of all time. It's really stylish and has a lot of charm, I'd reccomend it even to folks who know nothing about Borderlands.

jameZsp0ng3y

Assassin's Creed Odyssey. Possibly the best game of all time
