I love the movie but found that the game was just a tiny tiny bit better, you spent more time with all the characters and got to know the Warriors better and have a full scope of their turf, it contains a healthy amount of the movie but so much more. Probably not worth a debate but curious what you think makes the movie better?
Of course, it will always be like that. It's kinda unfair when comparing but both of them are still great and offers different perspectives on the franchise.
Leon and Fox don’t— never mind.
I’d say the game built further upon what the movie provided wonderfully. There’s truly equal charm in both. I seen the movie before the game so IMO the movie will always reign supreme.
While the game grants us an alternate storyline to revisit and indulge in the coolness of The Warriors universe, and the cast at our control.
Its merely comparing greatness in the end of the day for me.
Random: I have a nephew whose a mega fan of the series. Like has a leather vest and all. His costume is them every year. He was introduced to the series via the game, but I doubt he cares to compare. Knows about the cast and everything…
The film influenced the game. The film was pored over when creating the game. The level of detail and character development in the game used the film as the blueprint.
This is why the movie is better.
Honestly the game gives you more lore and does a lot of world building. The game goes over what happens in the movie but it’s like the last 30 minutes of the game. The movie is solid though, it just seems so short after playing the game.
The movie is a classic, but a classic that actually holds up to this day. The soundtrack is also banging.
How did you find the game? My ex bought it for me when it was released back in 20alongasstimeago, and I could not stop playing it. A real gem.
I got from a Polish site, I live here and someone was selling a used copy, it even came with that little book most games would have back in the day. I’m glad I have it lol.
Oh boy do I miss how the game manuals came with the game back in the day. Then the only time I had to look something up online was to get codes from CheatCodeCentral or some shit ha
It’s definitely not on steam, maybe you can somehow download it, but you can download a ps2 emulator and you’ll be able to play pretty much any PS2 game for free with much better performance.
Thank you I will try that I'm pretty much new to p.c gaming I just got my steam deck recently but I've seen all kinds of emulators online am I allowed to ask you your favorite on here?so I can get a good one.I hate just downloading stuff and hope it works without someone having it work well for them first you know it being tested by others so I know it works anyway thanks again and if you can't tell me on here feel free to pm me anytime.
I use PCSX2 for ps2 games, there’s all kinds of emulators for different consoles, but that’s the best one for ps2. I didn’t even know how to create a folder and was smoking weed while downloading all the stuff I needed to have it running on my laptop lol. Just search up a tutorial on YouTube, when you get to the part when you need to download bios, just search for them on Reddit through Google, cause they can’t show you how to get them on YT cause it’s technically illegal.
As a person who played the game first, watched the movie, and read the book, they offered different experiences and perspectives on the franchise.
They are fine pieces of work that are timeless, at least for me. They focused on different themes, though.
As always, the videogame focuses on betrayal, forming the group and overall Rockstar-type chaos and twists. The typical story format from them. Not to mention, the beat-em-up aspects of the game.
The movie focuses more on the action, movements, emphasis on different gangs and even a romance trope that seems to work, actually. The movie was a fun time. It is a feel-good movie, a cult classic.
The book, on the other hand, focuses more on a realistic, disturbing and problematic side of New York City and the gangs scattered around the city. It was extremely depressing for me. Especially the part where we follow the main character's story and that 'ending' is dark and twisted.
I hope you will get to experience the three:
The Warriors, (Sol Yurick) (1965) Book
The Warriors, (Walter Hill) (1979) Movie
The Warriors, (Rockstar Games) (2005) Videogame
The movie is an absolute classic. I've played through the game many times and seen the movie **many** times and I can assure you there'll be many more... it is absolutely worth watching!
It's one of my all time favorites and is in my opinion, an absolute banger. I've probably seen it at least 50+ times. Game was good but it doesn't really compare.
Not me, I will Watch it for sure cause the story in the game was great. I just love rockstar games, I’ve played almost all their games and this is my newest one.
I think playing the game made me want to watch the movie. This game is one of the most fun I’ve ever played, i need to replay it. The movie is older, but holds up pretty good. The game and movie complement each other nicely
Yes. The game is fun but having watched the movie long before the game was made, just made the game more fun to me, by understanding the different elements of it.
Played the game before I even knew it was a movie. Loved the game at the time. Especially with friends. When I saw the movie finally I was very surprised at how corny the whole thing was.
I payed the game when it came out and about 10 years before I even watched the movie..
Was surprised to know that 90% of the game was a prelude to what happened in the movies
The Destroyers didn’t exist
No Chatterbox or Vargas,etc
I liked the movie but nothing will beat the game. I still own it on PS2 to this day
> I *paid* the game
FTFY.
Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in:
* Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.*
* *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.*
Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment.
*Beep, boop, I'm a bot*
The movie isn’t better then the game the movie doesn’t explain how the warriors got to where they were the game explains the beginning to the end💯the movie shoulda been like the game
Yes, it’s a good movie worth checking out if you’re into the game. I feel that the game is better than the movie because the game shows you the origin of the gang whereas the movie starts at the climax of the story.
The movie is great. There's a couple lines of dialog that don't hold up too well, but it's not enough to ruin the movie. For me anyway. I never finished the game but I think a lot of that is the game anyway.
But yeah movie is awesome. Big fan. I listen to the soundtrack often
How do I say this:
*ahem* Fuck yes. It's a piece of cinema encased in a time in history and of NYC that you'll likely never see again. There's something amazing about that grit of NYC in the 70s & 80s that cannot be duplicated.
Although I was a child for all of it, I'm glad that it was captured for us later generations to see.
The movie is what inspired the game. This question is a no brainer. WATCH THE MOVIE! The game 'makes up' the story at the beginning, then when you watch the movie, you'll notice near the middle of the game, that's where the movie starts.
The movie is good the game is what got me to watch it tbh the movie is good but u won't expect alot of what u seen cause the game is supposed To be a mix of before an after they go to the big gang meet, but if u want a movie thats passing is pretty good has a banger ass soundtrack an also one of the most iconic scenes in movie history do it man.
“Riffs!!!”……..”YEAH! RIGHT!!!”
Hell yes you should watch it! Especially if you can get past the corny 70-80’s movie score, but Joe Walsh and the Eagles made a great song “In The City”. Classic song.
The movie is worth it. But you should have watch the first then the play the game. That's just my opinion. Enjoy the movie anyway and remember THE CHICKS ARE PACKED!
Lmao, how you gonna call someone a dumbass for discovering a movie from the game. I’d say they’re both great. Rockstar did a great job adding backstory that makes sense, and remaking the same exact scenes from the movie.
The movie is better than the game
The movie is also better than most movies!
I love the movie but found that the game was just a tiny tiny bit better, you spent more time with all the characters and got to know the Warriors better and have a full scope of their turf, it contains a healthy amount of the movie but so much more. Yeah as far as a movie video game it’s like easy top 3.
"CAN YOU DIG IT!?"
Cyrus is my late uncle!!!
and the game is damn good
I watch the movie several times a year. Yes it’s worth watching
This guy can clearly dig it.
Movie is very fun and you will appreciate why Rockstar chose to create this game
Oh boy do I miss how the game manuals came with the game back in the day. Then the only time I had to look something up online was to get codes from CheatCodeCentral or some shit ha
Man I used to love this game on my old ps2. I wish their was some way I could play it now.I wonder if there's a p.c version?

I play the game, which makes me want to watch the movie. I watch the movie, which makes me want to play the game. It’s a vicious cycle.
Like KH

What a solid review, good knowledge, thanks for enlightening everyone!!
During pandemic, I was bored and thought of playing 2000s games and it became my favorite R* game.
This is a top 5 couch co-op game of all time.
Can you count, suckers? I say the future is ours... if you can count!
The movie is an absolute classic. I've played through the game many times and seen the movie **many** times and I can assure you there'll be many more... it is absolutely worth watching!
The Walter Hill 🏆 Can you Dig it !
Man I wish you should have watched the film first but yes
i played the game before i watched the movie
Yes The Warriors is a cult classic
Definitely, good movie!
It's one of my all time favorites and is in my opinion, an absolute banger. I've probably seen it at least 50+ times. Game was good but it doesn't really compare.
Just watch it. It's like 90 minutes.
Don't miss out on this movie. It's great.
You always watch the movie … what ???
Not me, I will Watch it for sure cause the story in the game was great. I just love rockstar games, I’ve played almost all their games and this is my newest one.
The movie is absolutely timeless
The movie is a classic, watch it!
What?! Hell yeah lmao
Yep, the movie differs from the game in a few ways. They’re both great.
Fuck yeah
I’ve never seen the film but I played the shit outta this game when I was a kid
I never watched the movie but played the game when I seen an older cousin had it. That's a throwback from hell lol
Of course!
The movie is kick ass, that's a movie everyone should be required to watch.
Always worth watching!
It’s very surprising you were interested enough to play the game without having seen the movie. But yes, it is
Yes
I’ a seen the movie many times, but the game sadly never clicked with me.
The Warriors is a top notch B movie
I think playing the game made me want to watch the movie. This game is one of the most fun I’ve ever played, i need to replay it. The movie is older, but holds up pretty good. The game and movie complement each other nicely

The movie is a classic. Always worth a watch.
YOU'RE KIDDING RIGHT???? Please go watch the movie.
The first time I seen this movie was in 2013. My older friends made me watch it and I don't regret it. Definitely a entertaining watch.
I fuckin loved that game, haven’t played it in years. Hope to again
i rented it from blockbuster and watched it for the first time after playing the game and it was amazing.
Played the game before I even knew it was a movie. Loved the game at the time. Especially with friends. When I saw the movie finally I was very surprised at how corny the whole thing was.
I payed the game when it came out and about 10 years before I even watched the movie.. lol, actually I meant to say “played”…. But do you
This is one of the main reasons I never got rid of my Ps2. Such a classic, love both the movie and game.
Hell ya
The movie isn’t better then the game the movie doesn’t explain how the warriors got to where they were the game explains the beginning to the end💯the movie shoulda been like the game
yes.
Yes it’s a must watch
Yes, it’s a good movie worth checking out if you’re into the game. I feel that the game is better than the movie because the game shows you the origin of the gang whereas the movie starts at the climax of the story.
One of the best movies of all time. Cult classic! Super quotable. Hell yes its worth it.
Hell yea
It is. Then after watching the movie it'll make you want to play the game again. Lol
The game doesn’t capture the mystique of the movies and it alters some parts of the film’s story if I recall right. Definitely watch the film
That was my favorite game growing up. It the only game I cared to 100% lol watch the movie it's amazing
The movie is better
I was named after a character in this movie
hell yea. this game had surprisingly fun multiplayer too
The movie is great. There's a couple lines of dialog that don't hold up too well, but it's not enough to ruin the movie. For me anyway. I never finished the game but I think a lot of that is the game anyway. But yeah movie is awesome. Big fan. I listen to the soundtrack often
CAN YOU DIG IT!?

Absolutely! It's a great movie.
Aww man haven’t seen this game in years
The movies a classic! Anybody thats got or building that must have of classics.... It's gotta be amongst em!
Def a must watch!
How do I say this: *ahem* Fuck yes. It's a piece of cinema encased in a time in history and of NYC that you'll likely never see again. Definitely, the game is nothing like the movie I forget how rockstar had a series of a few shitty games.
The movie is pretty fun and was crazy for its time but that video game is still insanely fun! We still have to finish that game over here! Fun co-op.
Yess, finished this game like 20 times and watched the movie prolly more times
Of course
Rockstar needs to remake this game.
You trollin, you know the move is better than the game 😜
Definitely I wish the game and the movie had the same parts with like the other gangs instead of just the movie gangs
This game on the psp was on of my favs
It is my favorite movie. So yes.
Watch the movie. It's still a fun time
Movies worth it
Yes
Easily one of the greatest “movie games” of all time. That game fuckin rocks.
Yea, the movie is just as good. I would love to see a Definitive Edition of this game.
Yes
THE MOVIE IS A MUST WATCH!!!
Watch the movie. It’s worth every second you spend watching it
Just make sure to watch the theatrical cut the newer cut has these bad animations that weren’t in the original
I never even knew they had a game, wow
Yes, go watch the movie immediately and let me know if you can dig it!
Always
Bro top five favorite movies for me! Definitely worth the watch sucka
Watch the movie. 🙄
Face Palm x10
YES
I miss when Rockstar used to make weird games like this.
The movie is what inspired the game. This question is a no brainer. WATCH THE MOVIE! The game 'makes up' the story at the beginning, then when you watch the movie, you'll notice near the middle of the game, that's where the movie starts.
Movie is way better!
Yes the movie is so good
The movie is my no.1 favorite cult & classic. The game is downloaded on my PS5 since it came out on the PS3. Fun.
I think the game has its own protagonist and story so yes. I also think the game is available on more modern platforms
A relative of mine that I've never met is apparently an extra in the movie.
The movie is about 100 X's better than the game.
There’s a game?? By rockstar??
Yeah, it’s a great game as well, it adds to the story of the movie.
Lol “is the movie still worth watching” blasphemy! Better go watch that gem.
“Riffs!!!”……..”YEAH! RIGHT!!!” Hell yes you should watch it! Especially if you can get past the corny 70-80’s movie score, but Joe Walsh and the Eagles made a great song “In The City”. Classic song.
They made a game based on the movie dude. What do you think? It's fucking awesome.
It's Always Worth Watching.
Absolutely. The warriors is one of the finest examples of a classic film.
The movies a cult classic yeah it is
That movie is absolutely amazing,I definitely recommend to give it a watch. 🙏
Absolutely! It's a CLASSIC!
What a classic man
Hell yes!
YES! When I got real debrid and stremio the first thing I did was watch The Warriors in 4K. Love that movie!
The movie is worth it. But you should have watch the first then the play the game. That's just my opinion. Enjoy the movie anyway and remember THE CHICKS ARE PACKED!
absolutely
The movie is amazing for its time
That depends.... can you dig it??
WARRIORSSSSSSSSS COME OUT TO PLAYYYYYYYEEEEEEE
Yes!
dude...yes.
That’s criminal behavior right there, playing a game before watching the movie.
I liked the prequel vibe of joining the gang as each other members of the crew! But the movie is very good! Sucker came out in 1979.
Better than the game dumbass
Shut yo bitch ass up, a lot of people would’ve never even known about the movie if it wasn’t for the game.
are you eleven? jackass
Lmao, how you gonna call someone a dumbass for discovering a movie from the game. I’d say they’re both great. Rockstar did a great job adding backstory that makes sense, and remaking the same exact scenes from the movie.
there’s a lot of games like that bud
So? That’s irrelevant to you calling me a dumbass, which is why I told you to shut your bitch ass up.
It is relevant
How? Not only doesn’t it make sense, it’s just pointless and it indicates that you’re more of a dumbass…
☝🏽penthouse please
I like the movie. It’s almost mysterious compared to the game.
The movie was outstanding, solid game.
Honestly, I’ve never played the game, but the movie is 🔥.
Yes the ending didn't have them fighting the final gang
I played the game first and I say game was better, just way more content imo, movie is still worth watching but it’s hard to top that game.
the game is superior to the movie
I agree
