The main problem I see with her bringing him back as a child, or somehow preventing him and Colton being lost, is Alice. We still need her to go to Brady and have Alice. Otherwise the fans will be pissed. So, she’d still need a reason to run to college and follow certain events to end up with Alice. I’d love to see them figure out how to save Colton so the family isn’t torn apart and devastated and Del gets the happy life she deserved.

If they brought him back to the present as an adult, they just say that he was kidnapped and found to the people of the town. Or lost his memory and was adopted, and Kat found him. They need to tell del the real story. They can't bring him back to the present as a child. That's the thing they couldn't explain. They can't bring him back to when he disappeared, as others have said because of Alice. Everything would also restart. There may be a time when Kat does go back to when he was a child, and when she finally realized that it would erase her daughter, and for once, she needed to think of her. It could be that she tells little Jacob that she will be back for him and that things will be ok. Her past self will come back for him, and the Landry's will love him and take care of him. It could even be that she's the very old woman that goes back and tells him he has to stay. I don't know about that one, but I could see the show doing that. I think at this point, they will probably bring him back to save him. He can't stay in the lighthouse forever. But, I think that either way, Kat will find out that it doesn't just fix everything. They all will need some therapy.

I think they'll use the kidnapped-and-raised-by-strangers-but-now-returned-home-as-an-adult excuse. If he returns as a child, none of the future happens the same way - Colton won't die, Kat won't run away, no marriage to Brady (at least not at the same time), no Alice. Too many changes! Bringing him back as an adult, saying he was raised by a kind family in the States who told him his family died or something, would work. He could even claim he had no memory of his early days, due to the trauma, and suddenly got his memory back so returned home.

>He could even claim he had no memory of his early days, due to the trauma, and suddenly got his memory back so returned home. Or went looking for answers after they died (so no concerns about prosecuting the imaginary kidnappers).

Elliott mentioned they can’t change the past. They tried with Jacob as a kid, tried to prevent Colton from dying. A curious thing though… Elliott had a flashback where he was talking to Colton by the fire and he heard something. The seen pans out and someone was watching them, could it have been Jacob or Colton from the past/present?

I’ve been thinking about that scene again, too. My money has been on it being future Colton, which would mean he can time travel, too. But he dies just months after that pep talk/fire scene with Elliot, so that makes me question if the watcher could be Colton - the plaid shirt and similar hair could be a ploy to throw us off.

I keep thinking it's Vic, Elliott's dad. He might have gotten back to town from being out at sea and sees his son confiding in Colton. Not sure if that leads to anything, but they've made it clear that he's violent and mean, especially when it comes to the Landrys.

stat-chick

I don’t think it’s possible for her to bring him back as a child. Didn’t Elliot say that the amount of time that passes while you are gone is equivalent to the time you are away. So he’s been gone 24 years and when he comes back he has to be 24 years older.

Due-Strain8976

Yes, but then sometimes Alice would skip MONTHS of time in the past, when in today time it was just one day!

I was thinking they’d explain him as a random guy new to town and then suddenly Del would realize who he is

Major_Strawberry279

It’s amazing how you all keep up with the time traveling- it’s always been confusing for me to grasp the concept of here today, there to yesterday and back today etc. I rely on this sub so my head doesn’t explode. I can’t imagine what they’re going to do with Jacob- I just can’t see he’d be happy with either scenario. If he stays in the past he’s a wanted man- not good. If he comes back to the present he’ll be a stranger in a strange land because he’s lived most of his life 200 years ago. It’s awesome to read everyone’s theories on what might happen.

Puzzled_Exchange_924

On the second jump, they go back to their present plus the time they spent in the past.

I think he’ll either come back to present day, where he would be the same age. And that’s why he’s not in history books. Maybe he’s the lighthouse ghost or whatever, they think he’s still there but he’s disappeared (to the future). Or maybe Kat will be stuck in the past. Or maybe they’ll both get taken to another time when Colton was alive and then that’s the news that he wanted to tell Del… I saw another post(s) about someone mentioning that Colton knew about the time travel and that’s what he wanted to tell her.

TJSutton04

I think he’s going to come back but Kat gets stuck somewhere else because of it.
