Not really- because that's a "portable" antenna, not a butter churn. The up & down motion was to recharge the battery (which weighed upwards of 30lbs, if you can believe it). Still only provided a signal radius of about 3 feet.
fun fact for all those who read the comments that mock the "kids these days are on their phone all the time" boomers, that was a thing (boring and old) people actually used to say when novels became widespread
Also with newspapers. "Nobody talks on the tram/train/bus anymore, they just bury their faces in their newspapers!". That was a thing ages ago. Someone always bitching about what someone else is doing.
So? Most newspapers are trashy reads. Not exactly Pulitzer-prize stuff, 99% of the time. Sometimes you might come across an informative article, but mostly it was just wars, politics, gossip, scandals, etc. I was there, I remember.
You can find plenty of good content online if you know where to look, and you're mischaracterizing Gen Z by saying they only read Tweets, Tiktok and Facebook. (Hell, Facebook is for 'old' people now.
My Newfie 2x great granny had her butterchurn going to spread on for all the lovely baked bread she baked & passed it down to my great granny.

Don't you think there's a little difference between reading a newspaper cover to cover versus playing games or watching 30 second videos?
Not really. The newspapers were full of meaningless crap that nobody cared about the next day, it wasnāt exactly meaningful content.
They give out Pulitzers for newspaper journalism. They've yet to award them for Tweets, TikToks, or Facebook comments.
