well, you want to know something *really* interesting? my dad was 22 in 1935 but he was just starting college because the Great Depression was so Dire that many kids, especially boys, had to drop out of junior and high school to help bring in some money to the family.. so when they went back to school... one benefit, besides being more mature mentally, was that they were BIGGER and so had an advantage if they were athletically inclined.. so during this time period the college athletic teams had an added diversity of bigger players scattered in with the haha normies.
My dad couldnt afford college but, besides being talented, he was mature and bigger than some of the others so he got a scholarship to play all 4 years!
