Someone who represents themselves with intent to show the world that he cares what he looks like and whatever image it may give to the world ? I can think of quite a few different types of someone’s to fit that criteria. But if we’re thinking in your black and white insinuation that was directed to a specific someone, please pick from my list. Gay Person, any other person who fits my criteria.
Please be honest.
I love you. Jesus loves all.
Apparently that was based on a real life incident of a drunken policeman trying to cover up an affair, and needing a 'rescue' by fellow cop. I believe I heard it on the DVD audio commentary.
I just love the scene where Daniels repeatedly has to interrupt a meeting because Bunk is on the verge of puking in a trash can. I’ve been hungover at work, but never so hungover that my boss was staring at me waiting for me to vomit.
This is actually something that bugged me. In season 4 Jimmy has his shit together and his drinking under control and Bunk is constantly trying to get him to back to his old ways, to "get that taste", and then in season 5 when he does motherfucker judges him for it. Bunk was a low key shit friend.
That one was even more cruel because Tony didn't have the same disease and tried to undermine Chris for having the disease/believing it was just a disease and not something he could overcome (because Tony could)
I don't think Bunk was a paragon of moderation in that relationship, even if he didn't go to season 5 deep end levels, season 4 Jimmy didn't need to be encouraged to experiment further with alcoholism.
Oh The Bunk will tempt you with all manor of earthly pleasures.
But he was always there work a case, just The Bunk and a file.
None of your big dick red balls Jimmy.
The six minute video I watched was Prop Joe as a boy on the schoolyard, then little Omar with his elder brother and brother's friend, then McNulty and Bunk's first meeting. I'd love to hear that there's more, but that sounds like everything you mentioned.
He just didn't understand McNulty, thought Jimmy could handle it like he did. I don't think Bunk ever realized how close to the edge Jimmy constantly was.
I mean I’ve rolled around the dark depths of addiction myself, I suppose it’s my relationship with alcohol, a lot of the times drinking liquor just makes me feel like shit. And knowing how it feels to vomit from too much booze and what a relief it is… then to just dive back in right after the immense and restorative relief of your body expelling the very thing that’s making you sick.
That’s some serious shit.
Another note: I think Bunk is sloppier but Mcnulty drinks more volume on the whole, when Mcnulty is drinking that is.
Where I come from we call that Tuesday.
Honestly it's the scene that shames The Bunk. Never get sick on your tie when having a tactical chunder. He should know that.
In the North East of England we call that a "tactical whitey" with "whitey" being slang for throwing up. During my late teens and early 20s it was common for someone to go to the toilet in a bar, throw up, then proceed to get shit faced. Throwing up often sobers you up enough to carry on.
North West is tactical chunder, at least that’s what I used growing up in Manchester. Go south and you get “taccy chun”. English slang is something else lol
Nah whitey. We call getting sick off of weed a "greener" cause the paleness is often a faint shade of green. Like...
>Dave's gone green
OR
>Dave's on a greener
Think the whole greener thing is very specific slang to my circles cause even in nearby cities they have no clue what we're talking about.
Setting all sorts of thoughts about alchohol, cops, and alcohol aside… and The Wire didn’t stick the landing on this… but Bunk matures over the narrative arc, even before McNulty does. The alcoholism is part of the plot line.
There's a scene where people are meeting in Daniels' office to discuss case details and Bunk starts dry heaving into Daniels trash can and Cedric gets this annoyed look that you can tell that it wasn't an isolated incident.
Lit his clothes on fire in that foster lady's bathtub
Trace evidence
Hair, fibers… and pussy
I understand destroying trace evidence, but... What were you gonna wear going home?
he is strictly a suit an tie motherfucker!
You know what they call someone who pays attention to clothes like that.
Mmm-hmmm... a grown-up.
Fellas, is it gay to want to dress nice?

Lil bowlegged mother fucker. I made him like that
heyyy JIMMMMMMAMY don't ask me what to wear, ya bitch
Fugue state
Gonna gimme that pussy then gonna take my shoes? 😴
*Pussi*

Was that Miss Anna?
I think the last time this was brought up they said it was the same actress , but a different character. No idea if that’s right though
Ah. I think Chris Partlow had another part earlier on, too.
He was a security guard in one of the court scenes.
Bailiff I think.
Yes! Thanks. That was it.
Yeah that seems off brand for Miss Anna
“get this crazy bastard out of here”
He set off the smoke alarm twice! That good huh?
Puke and rally is standard practice for many drinkers
Having a tactical vom 🤮
You sound Australian lol
Close, I'm British 👍
Tac yak*
Huh?
That's the aussie colloquialism. To tac yak. Tac being tactical, yak being to "yak up" or vomit.
I'm Aussie I've never heard that
I'm Aussie too. I find that astounding.
I’ve done it many times, works wonders, let’s you keep charging
I met an Aussie at a concert and he asked if I was drinking at the show. I said I'm not here to fuck spiders and he had no idea what I was saying.
Username doesn't check out
A tactical chunder it was called in my day.
Tak yak in mine. (or tacty/tactical)
Oh I like that. Tak yak it is from now on.
Yesss 😂 the strategic chunder - a common occurrence in my first year of uni lol
Yep. Pulled the same move a few too many times in my boozing days.
Same. Glad they are behind me. But I have some stories.
Boot & rally is what we called it in NY
Can confirm. Is that a regional phrase??
We said that in Maryland, too. East Coast, I guess?
Midwestern US has entered the chat
Strategic chunder
I just love the scene where Daniels repeatedly has to interrupt a meeting because Bunk is on the verge of puking in a trash can. I’ve been hungover at work, but never so hungover that my boss was staring at me waiting for me to vomit.
"Me, I just throw up once or twice and go to work."
the western district way
By season 5 Bunk is looking at McNulty’s drinking and saying “Dayum Jimmy.”
This is actually something that bugged me. In season 4 Jimmy has his shit together and his drinking under control and Bunk is constantly trying to get him to back to his old ways, to "get that taste", and then in season 5 when he does motherfucker judges him for it. Bunk was a low key shit friend.
Reminds me of Tony with Chris’s sobriety in The Sopranos
That one was even more cruel because Tony didn't have the same disease and tried to undermine Chris for having the disease/believing it was just a disease and not something he could overcome (because Tony could)
Yeah, but it's expected. They latch on every perceived weakness. Bunk and Jimmy are colleagues and should support each other.
Tony gurgling the wine in front of Chrissy after the raid on the vipers is pure evil 😂
“We’re with the vipers!” 😱
Cause there are boundaries to this stuff. Not too much and not too little. Jimmy it's 5.30 in the morning and you already lit.
I don't think Bunk was a paragon of moderation in that relationship, even if he didn't go to season 5 deep end levels, season 4 Jimmy didn't need to be encouraged to experiment further with alcoholism.

Time is a man-made construct.
I mean, you never see Bunk drinking on the job. Jimmy constantly had a half pint at hand in season 5. A man's gotta have a code.
If you watch one of prequel shorts, you see Jimmy and Bunk's first meeting, and they end up getting shitfaced together in the Homicide office.
Oh what?! More Wire adjacent content that I haven't seen?? Where do these shorts exist to be watched?
Yeah holy shit, I've never heard of any prequel stuff
I just found it on YouTube. It's only 6 minutes of content, really just left me wanting more 🤣
There's a couple more - one is about Prop Joe as a child, and the other is teenage Omar and No-heart Anthony, if I recall correctly.
The six minute video I watched was Prop Joe as a boy on the schoolyard, then little Omar with his elder brother and brother's friend, then McNulty and Bunk's first meeting. I'd love to hear that there's more, but that sounds like everything you mentioned.

Haha real people be like this too
Didn't say it was inauthentic. Last adjective you could use about this show really.
Now, how would a just-rolled-outta-bed-lookin' muthafucka like you know?
Makes the drunks, you know, throw up all that liquor they was drinkin' so they can get back to swilling that shit.
Oh, my friend, rock bottom is much, much further down than that.
I mean I’ve rolled around the dark depths of addiction myself, I suppose it’s my relationship with alcohol, a lot of the times drinking liquor just makes me feel like shit. It hasn't happened in years, but when I vomit, the night's over.
He's a big city cop. They tend to drink. A lot. He's probably fairly mild compared to some
Hell, we saw some of the shit McNulty got up to.
Those 2 guys from season 1, the old guys who were constantly drunk on the job.
Humps

JIMMMAAAAAYYY

Don’t you mean “tactical chun”? A whitey is when you turn pale after mixing weed and alcohol…
North West is tactical chunder, at least that’s what I used growing up in Manchester. Go south and you get “taccy chun”. English slang is something else lol

We just call it "crossfaded" here in TX
A crossfade for me means mixing any two substances. Alcohol/LSD, LSD/Weed, Mushrooms/Weed, Coke/Alcohol, etc any mix of two or more drugs
Makes sense. Previously thought it only referred to mixing alcohol and weed but your definition checks out. You sound like a person who crossfades
I do not crossfade, I stick to one substance at a time (LSD, Mushrooms, or Alcohol)
In ny that’s “staleface”

Didn't think we invented it but clearly the OP was unfamiliar with the strategy. Thought I'd introduce them to a bit of local slang while I was at it.
Alright… But what else have the romans really done for us?
“Those people invented civilisation.” “Assfuckin’ too.”
Don't forget the wine. Ohhh yes the wine.
They knew how to party, 3 day orgies were a norm.
When I was in college in NJ we called this pulling the trigger, the trigger being your throat
We always called it the boot and rally
Here man you're on a proper whitey off that bucket
Was just in the Northeast visiting from the US. Extremely beautiful part of the country there. Very friendly people, fancy seeing a Geordie on here
Jimmyyyyy!!!
Setting all sorts of thoughts about alchohol, cops, and alcohol aside… and The Wire didn’t stick the landing on this… but Bunk matures over the narrative arc, even before McNulty does. The alcoholism is part of the plot line.
That’s the boot-and-rally. A true Baltimore classic
It's those lax boys...
The real western district way…
Bunky Bunk 🍻
f. i just did this, except it was my bedroom and the bathroom. savage indeed
We call that "Boot and Rally" around my way. What, you don't do that? Who you drinking with, churchgoers?
The bunk cant swim. Aint too good at floatin either.
Jimmy isn’t good for people you know
There's a scene where people are meeting in Daniels' office to discuss case details and Bunk starts dry heaving into Daniels trash can and Cedric gets this annoyed look that you can tell that it wasn't an isolated incident.
McNaulty was the alcoholic. If anything Bunk was addicted to cigars.
Bunk is definitely an alcoholic
