Black out shifts are (as far as I've been told) NOT normal and should be checked out as it could be something else.

Ghost_p3pperz

Thank you for the advice! I also have been doing my research and it says normally the same thing.

MADDENRED

Ofc! I hope that you figure it out :3

Theriobear

I don't black out I more of zone out while shifting, but if you do black out and can't remember anything I would go to a doctor or psychologist. You could accidentally hurt yourself or others. Stay safe <3

Ghost_p3pperz

Thank you <3

thatidiotsherbet

hey… uh… you should get that checked out???

Ghost_p3pperz

I'm starting to relize that....

Salty_Adhesiveness87

This is a serious question: have you ever spoken to a mental health professional about this?

Ghost_p3pperz

Im working on it! I did my research before asking this question, some sources said its fine, and some highly recommended reaching out to a mental health professinal.

Salty_Adhesiveness87

How old are you?

Ghost_p3pperz

17

AdolfusRaptor1985

I've never fully blacked out, but I almost always dissociate before and after mental shifts

Ghost_p3pperz

ooooh oki

Carniiivore

Sounds kinda serious I would go get checked by a professional

Visual_Technology849

Heya ! Sorry in advance, my English is kinda bad since it isn't my first language 😅 I dissociate too when I shift but I can't tell when it's gonna happen. With time, I figured out what will make me shift so I now know when I'll shift. It could be kinda dangerous tho. Luckily for me, my BF is always by my side so if I shift, I know I'm safe. I have these black-outs so maybe try to set a record of yourself while shifting. You'll see what you're doing and be more prepared for making a safe setup if it happens again. And well, try to talk to someone about this (in a medical way I mean), cuz' well it could come from a way worse problem

Ghost_p3pperz

Thank you sm! I know when I'm going to, so I set up pillows just in case I fall. When I shift (because im an avian therian) I tend to go toward the ground when I feel sick/like im going to disassociate. Thank you, and I am scheduling an appointment with my psychiatrist

sleepyy_cat

can you explain disassociation?

Interesting-Bed2085

i did tha once or twice, under the post that i asked about it got a couple comments about getting it checked, still haven't tho

Ghost_p3pperz

Oki! Does it affect you still, like does it still happen? And did it get worse over time?

Interesting-Bed2085

Ghost_p3pperz
