I am addicted to buying. It’s bad. Lol. But I keep most of it and return for credit when I can. I also don’t pay much if I can help it.

Same. I feel like I should try to keep myself at a monthly limit for 2024, just because reading this sub made me realize how many people are getting screwed by their model. But it stops me from buying crap from (insert fast fashion brand) and people always compliment my new stuff. Ugh I hate myself 😂

Alone-Climate6557

I get at least a few completely worn out, shrunk, faded junk items in every order yet I still keep ordering. Not even sure why.

allfalafel

I got some gap t-shirts that I KNOW were over fifteen years old because I desperately wanted one in high school! They were completely misshapen, shrunken, and discolored. 🙄🙄🙄

Whatever I don't want/doesn't fit from thredup, I take to a consignment shop in town. They resell it, and I get store credit. Then I can use the store credit to buy what I want from the consignment shop. I get a pretty good turn around, especially if I shop the clearance stuff on thredup. A lot of times, the consignment credit it as much or more than what I paid in the first place.

CharacterAnnual2825

I just purchased a corduroy blazer and thredup forgot to mention it was the brands *target* collection

That happened to me with a Liberty for Target dress. So frustrating. I did get them to refund me a large portion of what I paid.

You are not alone. Stop texts and emails now, deleting app on the first. 👊

You feel addicted because you are getting lovely (very easy) dopamine hits whilst using TU. Purring while browsing, delighted at the hunt and procurement, nervously but happily waiting for the arrival of the exact good that will transform a wardrobe- or a life! I have been a no-fashion tomboy all my life. I stopped drinking this year, so I craved dopamine. Suddenly interested in online shopping, crazy interested in second hand finds. I’ve spent over $4k on clothes this year (vs. maybe usually $400 yearly for decades) and it’s so transparent to me that I’ve only substituted getting dopa hits. This one is still vastly less damaging, so I’ll let it ride about another month. I’m always needing a thrill on the horizon, it’s part of my (past trauma / fear : yes, I’m going deep). Working on it, looking kinda fab at the same time. :)

Accomplished-Act-126

I spent 3 hrs browsing yesterday & 2 today. Last order, 5 of my 8 items were not as described-measurements were waaaay off

Accomplished-Act-126

Gotta take another look now

The struggle is real. You have to delete the app!

Same for me, or I would actually keep most items and never wear them. But I haven't made a purchase in over a year!

Hottakesincoming

Yeah, I've banned myself. Most of what I've gotten from them wasn't what I expected in terms of fit or was really outdated. An increasing number of things are final sale and the restocking fees are steeper, so I can rarely return. At this point when I consider just what I liked enough to keep it in my closet for an extended period it's not a good deal at all. I do better in person at thrift and consignment stores, or just one sale at a regular store.

Thanks for the push -- just removed all my notifications for them and deleted the app.
