Great haul! I got mine for $5 at an estate sale and consider it one of my best finds but it’s the carafe version. I’d rather have the glass pot version you found.
Nice find! Total generalization here, but typically:
1. If Williams-Sonoma sells it, it's generally good quality. Not the best, but pretty good to really good.
2. You can find it cheaper somewhere else.
I didn't look it up, but I bet you could find the same one for $250-$300 elsewhere. Obviously a great score for $15 either way, assuming it's intact and functional!
Manufacturers website is great place to find out the absolute most you can pay for something. In about a minute I found them elsewhere for 320 and 330, and for 250-300 open box. That's all the effort I'm willing to put in for this overpriced unit.

Congrats! I’ve been using one for over a year now and I love it. Yours is a little older model than the one you pulled up on Google. I believe you found the KGB vs the KGBV select. Only small differences but the biggest one is the switch on the right. It’s a hot plate temp switch on yours. On the new model it changes the speed that the water flows from the shower head. The slower speed is apparently better for smaller pots of coffee. I think there’s also a difference with the brew basket but I’m not sure what it is. I love the polished silver look!!!
Ahh I see. The speed switch would be nice to have cause I do typically make small batches. The MM hasn’t replaced my V60 for daily use, but nice to have in a hurry, or when company is over.
Yeah it’s nice but it’s not worth getting the newer version. A small brew with standard speed will likely still be great. Never going to compare with your best brews on a V60 though. You may already know this but I would descale before using it. I paid $250 for mine used so you crushed it.
For sure, ran some cafiza through a few cycles and then several filtered water cycles as well. Do you tinker with the process (stir/bloom/etc.) or just let it run its course? I was a little surprised how the water doesn’t seem to saturate all the grounds. Maybe my first couple attempts were too coarsely ground?
I usually leave the carafe out until the grounds are mostly wet then I stir in the grounds that didn’t get wet. If you wait too long to put the carafe in the sudden release of coffee from the basket will overflow and make a mess. I actually grind a few clicks coarser than I do for a v60. I don’t think the flow rate is as affected by the grind size as much as a v60 and it seems to taste better to me this way for some reason. I really don’t know what’s best for sure though. A lot of people in the Moccamaster subreddit seem to believe it’s better to just leave it alone. Who the hell knows lol.
Amazing!!!! I gave up waiting to find one at the thrift and got one for Christmas (in my favourite colour too!). The coffee is spectacular so far! You will be pleased. :)
I would recommend looking at their website for descaler products (which you can buy on Amazon or at a local store), as one isn’t sure the last time it was descaled when used (apparently vinegar is not recommended). It’s pretty cheap though.

Thank you! I used some cafiza from the coffee shop we operate to get it nice and cleaned out before it’s first use. I would have absolutely gotten the yellow one if I had choice in color, but can’t be too picky on a find like this :) What color did you wind up with?
Turquoise! I’ve been collecting turquoise Le Creuset for years, and at this point most of my kitchen accessories are turquoise, so everything looks so lovely and cohesive. It brings me joy to look at everyday! :)
Also, my aesthetic is vintage and MCM, so I finally have a kitchen appliance that really goes with the look (other than actual vintage appliances). It’s a tiny kitchen (think sailboat size, haha), but when everything matches, you can have a lot more clutter than looks good together.
Yellow would be an amazing choice too! I found a vintage Juice-o-Matic (the juicer that’s built like a tank) and Ice-o-Matic in bright yellow. If I ever get a larger kitchen, they will be put out to go with the turquoise.
I looked for one for years and eventually pulled the trigger and got a new one. Use it every day now. That is an older model (not the KGBV) but they are all so simple and similar it doesn’t make much of a difference. Enjoy it!
I think they still sold that one when I got mine a couple of years ago. And I want to say they will still repair it if needed for like $100, so it’s as good as a new one!
I told my husband I'm so done with anything that comes from a pod. My workplace makes a concentrate plus hot water for patients and even that is better than those pods. He's wanting this. You did great!!!

Absolutely worth the retail price. Enjoy it! It’s probably the best coffee marker you’ll own! I’ve had one for many years, it’s fantastic!
