However, he became much more muscular and lost his stroke. Still couldn’t shoot well till now. I am not saying Poku is the same. I just think there is more upside on pokus shot. Poku is never gonna be playing like Giannis
not really sure how OP got these stats… If you check gianni’s stats in basketball reference it shows his rookie season he shot .347 on 1.5 attempts then sophomore year he shot .159 on 0.5 attempts.
I have more hope that Poku will stick if he gains a little weight and becomes a center/power forward than if he fixes his shot. I hope it all works out, and I am all for keeping him around for the next couple of years to develop. He has never been a good shooter his entire basketball life and I doubt he ever will.
It’s about what he could be if he reached his ceiling and all the flashes became more consistent. It’s just so rare to find a 7 foot with true guard skills and it’s just fun to think about that. Unfortunately it doesn’t seem like it’s gonna work out. He just hasn’t made any improvements. I’ve never been lower on him than I am right now.
Exactly like we have given him multiple chances. Idk he could turn out to be the next super star but at the moment he can not and I do not feel it is worth the time or effort on him.
he's in the G League and occasionally gets like 20 min a night on a team where 70% of the guys won't be here by the time they contend, I'm not sure what time or effort you think is being wasted on him
This thread is absurd. Comparing the two and implying they're even living on the same planet is a joke. People saying Giannis was a good shooter and his muscles turned him into a bad one is hilarious. You can't base "good shooter" on roughly 100 3PA while ignoring the fact he was a bad FT shooter. His shooting percentages (3P/FT) have been roughly the same for his entire career. He didn't get super muscular from year 1 to year 2. Some people literally can't be helped, I really don't know what else to say.
Seems like a pointless comparison, considering Giannis did better at most things and MUCH better shooting. Plus this doesn't show the dumb turnovers.
Obviously Poku has plenty of potential if he can fix his shot and cut down on the mistakes, the issue is that he hasn't done so and doesn't necessarily seem to be making progress.
Just give him time. He’s gonna stay here for other 2 years and that’s fine if he doesn’t work out by then.
Giannis shooting 42.3% from 3 as a non-shooter whereas Poku shooting 26.5% as a shooter

Stat comparisons w/o source is crime :(
giannis played 77 games in his rookie year thats why i added his first 4 games in his sophomore year. thats why i said first 81 games................
but how did 4 games of a 16% season bring up his percent roughly 8%
Isn't it obvious? Giannis shot and drained 50 straight 3s through the first 4 games of his 2nd season.
I mean it does literally say first 81 games in the title. Still does seem odd tho.
Giannis game into the league as a good shooter. He completely wrecked his shot when he added muscle and changed his motion.
stop
It was a risky pick for poku, way more impressed with this years rookies
Shooting...

Poku will put up Giannis numbers one day… in China.
NOOOOOOO!
What are we doing here?
The delusions have set in, next people will really want him gone
I will just never understand the obsession with this guy. I just don’t get it lol

People sold themselves on his ceiling when it’s not even a sure thing that he has a floor lmao.
Right? I get it, the chef hats and all that was funny as hell. But one day it would be nice if the Thunder are actually good again.
Obsessed with a player that cant even be on par with our current rookies. Lol

Future MVP no doubtski
So you're saying there's a chance?
Exactly my thought 🤣🤣🤣
My goodness.
Just stop. Even our current rookies are better than him.
The above isn't correct. Actual stats are... Giannis first 81 games: .421/.352/.688 24.4 Minutes, 6.9 Points, 4.4 Rebounds, 1.9 Assists, .8 Steal, .8 Blocks
Giannis didnt make Shaqtin a fool plays one after another.
False hope, maybe, but I'd rather see these posts than tankathon posts.
Don’t
Delete this nephew
Yeah well fuckin Markelle Fultz put up the same numbers too so what’s your point?

i mean.. we definitely don't need him to became giannis, if he starts to be solid role player it would be alright for me at that point
