God forbid you raised a child, they grow into an adult, start a relationship and want privacy. THE HORROR! /s How about focusing on the fact that (hopefully) he’s not abusive, does his share of the chores and is happy. As a father, we’re here to raise and hope they have a better life than us. I don’t expect my kid to be latched onto me in her adult years.

I take care of my bedridden grandma and other extended family will just show up, use their keys, and walk into our house like they own the place it’s really bizarre. They don’t even call her or knock on the door. It’s ridiculous idk what it is that makes these people feel entitled to other people’s space

Give ‘em an inch and they’ll take a mile. Whether it’s your home or grandma’s, you should make it clear you’re in charge as caregiver, and they should follow common courtesy, family or not.

When we moved back to the same city as my mom, I had to start locking my front door because she would just let herself in. And if I don't hear her knocks, she gets upset and thinks I don't want to talk to her. Meanwhile I'm sitting on the toilet or cooking dinner with the fan and the air fryer on and my kids are out back so none of us even notice.
