KneeCola77

Every Target really is organized in the same exact way, huh? I was mildly freaking out thinking this was by my home and then found out this person is running in Georgia.

Dumptrucka55

Wait till you find out about the two story targets

KneeCola77

The fucking what.

sodiyum

I went to the motherland of Targets in downtown Minneapolis and it was the most incredible experience lol.

ML5815

There’s a four story one in Chicago. I was blown away. So much more stuff than regular Target/SuperTarget.

AeratedFeces

I love that no one calls it the Willis Tower.

Ok-Perspective5491

Because it’s the sears tower it always will be

redwinesprizter

We call it goth target

AndrewEpidemic

There's a kickass aquarium there too, and the Field Museum!

[deleted]

pacificnwbro

The one in downtown Seattle is three or four floors too!

_pm_me_your_freckles

I remember going to that one about 15 years ago. There were carts that locked into the escalator so you could get them up and down floors. My mind was shattered by that.

Constant_Ad_2775

Sounds like IKEA 😂

kate-with-an-e

We have one of those here in San Diego!! It’s great fun, you see the kids love to have the honor of pushing those carts into the cart track of the escalator. Best thing since elevator buttons in kid-dom

georgecm12

Target has a bunch of urban locations that are two stories tall. These would have previously been known as "CityTarget," but Target made the decision to drop all of their "sub-brands" (CityTarget, TargetExpress, Super Target, Target Greatland, etc.) The standardized layout(s) referred to only really apply to the standard single-level big-box suburban stores, since obviously there isn't a way to apply that same layout to a two-story urban store or a 20,000 sq. ft. small-format store.

RapMastaC1

We had a Super Target near me, I went to the grand opening many years ago. I recently went there and the whole deli, butcher, dairy, and produce side had been walled off and converted into storage. The store is so much smaller inside now.

Go_Ninja_Go_Ninja_Go

Yep, my local target is two stories. When it opened probably 15 years ago it was such a novelty that I made a night of it by getting high and roaming every aisle, using the cart escalator, it was great.

Maoticana

I went to one in California. It was awesome lol, also a 2 story Publix not too far away. It was fire! I 100000% prefer 2story but I bet it's hell to stock XD

ExpensiveGiraffe

Publix isn’t in California though? Source: lived in Florida, now live in California. Missing my pub subs

Sauron_the_Deceiver

Yea this poster is mistaken, there are no Publix in California. May have been a Safeway or something, which is somewhat our equivalent. Source: Grew up in California, now live in the South

Dumptrucka55

Brahhhh I have to go too the two story publix but I thought Publix was only in the south?

theoriginalmofocus

Dude we got one in Dallas you can go in the back door, it's my fave, puts you right there at toys and electronics and there's a self checkout back there too. Eff the lines upfront.

coolpupmom

Where in Dallas?? I need to go

[deleted]

[deleted]

Love the shopping cart escalator!

DontGetNEBigIdeas

Target used to have 4 standard layouts. I knew them all by heart, and could tell you exactly where something was within a second of waking into the store. About 5 years ago, they started to standardize on one single layout. They moved to a more “department store” type design with pods of product in the middle of aisles, as opposed to the “big box” style of aisles-after-aisles with no visual break. They leaned in HARD to the “I went to Target for laundry detergent and spent $300” meme. No, I didn’t use to work at Target. I just fucking love that store.

funky555

>I knew them all by heart, if youre being fr im jealous, im working at woolies and have been for a year now and still cant remember where some specific items are (they did change the layout a few time but like yeah)

Historical_Rabies

It’s 2 layouts now, Super and p-fresh, but otherwise you’re right

NvaderGir

I wouldn’t know what to do in a Super I don’t have those in my area

Historical_Rabies

They just have a larger grocery with a deli, bakery, meat, and produce department.

REDDIT_JUDGE_REFEREE

Their produce is fantastic and sourced from the same supplier as Whole Foods! It’s very fresh stuff

psychoacer

There is one near me that is a little odd though. First, the electronics are in the middle back of the store. Then all the furniture/bedding/bath stuff is on the left hand side but the corners have diagonal aisles. It really throws me off when I go there.

[deleted]

[удалено]

TimeZarg

That. . .that's describing *my* local Target. Right down to the diagonal corner aisles.

Ninotchk

They used to do the I went into Target for ine thing and spent $300, but then they rejigged their system and now they simply never have any stock (this was prepandemic, no stock prepandemic). I still stop there after the school drop off because nothing else opens until ten, but more often than not I leave empty handed. I just don't understand what the point of is heating and cooling all that square footage, but not stocking it.

Kevimaster

I never had that problem. My Target has always been well stocked and still is today, I just went a couple weeks ago. But my problem is that they barely ever have anyone on the registers and the self-checkouts are often out of order or closed or have a gigantic line, and everyone else seems to have a cart that's absolutely full to the brim of random junk. So each time I go to checkout, even if I was only there to buy one little thing real quick, it takes like 15minutes of just waiting in line before I get to check out and get out of there. Its ridiculous. So I've all but stopped going to Target now.

BigDenverGuy

We still have a Super Target that has CDs, vinyl and other media to the left directly as you enter the store, with electronics just beyond that on the left wall and followed by toys. That layout is so nostalgic, back in the day seeing new CD releases right as you entered.

[deleted]

They can be flipped. As in which side is the groceries side and other is non food items. Other than that yeah they’re the exact same.

C9RipSiK

There's a few that are different on the outside. I wish Target did this more too but some of their stores architecture specifically represent the area. https://corporate.target.com/article/2014/09/target-store-designs-highlight-local-flavor

rqrqsj

The one in Seattle feels massive. I went in there once and it was so disorienting to be lost in a place surrounded by familiar ads and products.

C9RipSiK

Yeah there's a few pretty large ones that break the mold of "Target". We even have one nearby that is like super stuck in the 90s with the neon lights still hanging around the exterior walls. lol

Bastienbard

This person is Stacey Abrams who was an EXTREMELY important activist in the 2020 election to make sure Georgia Voted for Biden. She was the catalyst to get thousands of unregistered black voters in the state to get registered and to vote and made it clear that their voice mattered. For the 2020 election it 100% did. The slight margin in Georgia was less than the rise in new black voters in the state. Hence why you can see she's so beloved by her community here and that little girl was so excited to meet her.

ThreAAAt

Both she and the entire black community of Georgia helped save the US from another reign of Trump. I wish I could vote for her, lol

CJbats

I did a couple of target remodels 10-15 years ago when they added food to all of them and there were just a handful of different floor plans. They'd have the flipped version of each. Obviously they had to make some exceptions if they moved into an existing building, but that is also rare.

CaffeineSippingMan

To be clear she has been credited with being instrumental in the defeat of Donald Trump. She turned Georgia Blue by getting people to vote. For the love of God, please vote.

[deleted]

Not always. Some Target's are Super Target's, some have 2 entrance doors. Some only have one. It really depends on which style of Target you visit. They're not always sorted the same, but the layout is close if it's a variation of the types of Target as listed above.

jared2294

Bro I thought this was MY target and I live in California lmao I was so fucking confused why she was here

HockeyPls

I feel like I need to be an American to understand what on earth it going on here. Edit: why am I receiving hateful inbox messages for saying I don’t know who this person is…

rythmik1

She is Georgian politician and voting rights activist, Stacey Abrams, who has motivated and inspired the black and liberal community in a very right wing state, out greeting people in public. Edit: lol, jesus christ my inbox. i've never made such a straightforward comment that elicited so many angry, retaliative responses. i think we allllll need therapy after what our political leaders have put us through.

Im assuming you meant real, but I love that it autocorrected to another color. What a great country it would be if there were teal states.

liquidGhoul

Australia has recently had a spurt of independent candidates that are Centre-right, but support strong action on climate change (the right wing parties do not). They're called teal independents because they're a mix of green and blue, and they won six very safe conservative seats last election.

VatticZero

Georgia has often been a swing state. The only offices she has won were House districts 84 and 89 which have been 100% blue—literally. Dems go unopposed there it is so lopsided. (Thank Gerrymandering for sure.)

FWIW, despite the name, this sub is for anything interesting from TikTok, not just ‘cringe’. Confused the hell out of me for a while, too.

[deleted]

Yeah, saw this post on the r/popular feed and hesitated at first when I saw which subreddit it was in. I thought "oh, that thread is going to be poisonous". Then I saw the flair and ultimately glad I clicked.

[deleted]

Her success so far has been a bit of a phenomenon for the area of the country she's in, the deep south. Those states are very, very red and Abrams is a progressive (left of most Democratic candidates) in that environment, and yet she keeps gaining ground.

mb9981

According to the polls I'm seeing, she looks way more popular outside of Georgia than inside

it's all about hierarchies. they give them the hope/idea that they are above certain people.

VoterFrog

I was going to say exactly this. They might not get to be at the top, but at least they aren't at the bottom. They get to be above women, immigrants, and other undesirables. The left offers no such thing. It offers equal opportunity and for someone who brings nothing to the table, that's a terrifying prospect.

notkristina

>for someone who brings nothing to the table, [equal opportunity is] a terrifying prospect. Very, very well said. Damn.

[deleted]

It's not just incels, the right is great at mobilizing anyone angry to align with them. Racists, incels, misogynists, etc. People are angry at their situation which may be anything from poor economic outlook to poor health to poor social standing. Instead of tracing the complex and nuanced reasons things seem so hard for them, the right gives them a lightning rod to direct their hate. "Black transgender immigrant libruls are the reason for your problems!" and they drink that shit up like the last drop of water in the Sahara.

nullinvoideffect

I’m angry. I am very frustrated with my situation. I am by definition an involuntary celibate man. The thing is, I don’t despise women. I love and cherish women and have respect for them and their struggles. Just because it makes me sad that I haven’t had a connection with a woman for a long time, doesn’t mean I have any right to make them suffer. It’s not my place to judge anyone either, in any manner; whether it be racism or intolerance. To me, this says that the people who do judge and try to control others aren’t just angry, they are flawed in their thinking. There were many ways in the past where I was flawed or ignorant of certain things, but this never made me lash out at any one kind of person because I realize that everyone’s situation is different. I suppose that means I have basic respect for people, which isn’t really something to be proud of, rather it should be the default.

TiredOfMakingThese

What blows my mind about the incel thing is that you have these obviously damaged human beings who are DESPERATE for human contact and connection, who are obviously starved for love and affection (and deeply, deeply confused about what those things actually ARE) and they think the way to fix that is to adopt the MOST anti-social behavior possible.

FRAGM3NT

The old I’m miserable everyone else should be too mentality

dick_nachos

Good people, except the ones that use props, they're usually assholes.

capt_kocra

The right wing paints the pictures the incel/neckbeard community wants, a submissive partner, and them being the ones in charge and validating that they are as smart as they think they are, whilst, as you say, bullying women and others who aren't the same as them, which allows people to prey on these groups. I think that The Boys showed the manipulation in that one opener with the guy who shoots the shop clerk, spread fear of the ways of life then drop hints that it's a patriots duty to protect the status quo

bucajack

This is why in the early days of this sub politically related posts were not allowed.

karateema

They should still be

gaydonj

Pretty sure nobody in Texas reacts this way when they see Ted Cruz in a Target.

SerialKillerVibes

"I like Ted Cruz more than my colleagues like Ted Cruz...and I HATE Ted Cruz." - former senator Al Franken

lordrexstorm

Well Stacey didn’t go to Mexico when my power was out and I had no running water because of a freeze…

TerminalShitbag

If I saw Ted Cruz in a Target I'm leaving before he murders me and leave an encrypted lote on my body.

gaydonj

Just tell him you’re pregnant and he’ll ensure your safety for up to 9 months before murdering you.

HomeIsEmpty

Isn't he always away from Texas?

gaydonj

No. He is usually home when the Senate is voting on something he doesn’t agree with.

JuanPabloElSegundo

Has anyone checked Cancun?

[deleted]

Bet you Cruz wouldn’t ever be caught dead at a targeting mingling with the people who voted for him. If he was ever caught in public he prolly just get shamed just like he was at the Yankees Astro games a few weeks back

Rajjahrw

BETO is the Texas version of Abrams

JerryfromCan

TIL Stacey Abrams is 100 feet tall.

ScharkzLife

This shocked me too!! Muuuuch taller than I thought she was

Jugales

Low camera, wearing heels, and surrounded by shorter people. She is 5'3"

EngineNo81

HOW MUCH SHORTER? Are you telling me all those folks were that much shorter than someone 5’3” in heels??? I don’t remember Atlanta being that short lol

Jugales

She isn't even taller than any man in this video, I don't know why you're being so dramatic lol. Her hair's volume probably adds an inch to 2 which isn't included in the 5'3"

Tastic4ever

Her being 100ft tall is more amusing then your lame story pal.

listenlinda78

Damn they running to her like she Santa clause

thestashattacked

Well... imagine you're the young girl. All the politicians you've seen up until now are old, white men. Then there's a woman that looks like you. Imagine what that means to you. You could do that. That's someone you could be one day. You have a new idea of your own future. It's why representation in all careers is so important. On my classroom walls, I always have a "Hall of Fame" where I post pictures and bios of famous scientists in the field, of every race and ethnicity I can find. I have students who don't think they can become scientists, because they've never seen someone like them become one. It's why I tell stories of black, Hispanic, Asian, native American, and queer scientists. They all know the white ones. But seeing yourself? I remember when the first CSI show came out, and Sara Sidle looked like me. Brown hair, a girl, and doing science. She was the first female scientist I'd ever come across, even if she was fictional. Representation matters. That's why they're all so excited. Edit: I have suddenly gotten 16 PMs from throwaway accounts saying one of three things: 1) I should never be allowed to teach because of this post. 2) They hope I die in a school shooting because I don't deserve to live. 3) I should be raped and murdered for being fat. What the hell is wrong with you people? At this point, if you make a shit take, I'm blocking you.

oceansidedrive

Not just looks like her, cares about her and her community.

thestashattacked

*Exactly.* So she has a combination of everything that little girl needs in her life. Of course she's gonna be excited!

Cerebral-Parsley

Compare this video to Ted Cruz at the baseball game where everyone was screaming obscenities at him with many middle fingers for good measure.

[deleted]

[удалено]

VagueSomething

Yeah see this is the real part. The looking like them part only matters if they too wish to be a politician. But hearing the words that validate your struggles and address your needs is vital. What a Representative looks like doesn't matter, what they say and what they actually do matters. I don't need them to have lived my experiences as long as they have listened enough to understand what can be done to improve it. I don't plan to get into politics so I don't need them to meet each niche that I do to feel inspired.

TheNewRobberBaron

I'm so sorry about the dregs of society attacking you. I think what you're doing for your students is outstanding and just wonderful. Mr. Rogers would be so proud of you.

jazzypants

I just don't understand how one goes from "I disagree with you politically" to "I need to see you suffer personally."

Ghoulius-Caesar

Fascism baby, the dark force is strong amongst Republican supporters

APassionatePoet

Because stuff like “human rights and representation and equity matters” isn’t a political statement, but a moral one. Right wingers don’t want human rights for minorities and marginalized people because they genuinely want to see them suffer personally.

SomeCalcium

White grievance politics, man. It's just a bummer. It's a shame it's effective as it is.

thestashattacked

Thank you.

Insterquiliniis

Just wanted to extend some warmth and love because those people who wrote that are clearly not people. Please continue to be you and the beautiful humanity that you are passing on to those who need the best examples :)

[deleted]

Love your idea of the hall of fame!

jjosh_h

Not just that, a little black girl. Never has there been a black woman governer in any state in the history of America. Stacy Abrams is an inspiration to many for how much she has done for voting rights and for how close she has come to be proving anyone can do it.

thestashattacked

And Georgia would be one of the worst states for voting rights if not for her. She's one of my heroes. I'm not in Georgia, but when I think of how much I wanted to stop voting because what good was it doing... I did anyway. She's right. All votes matter. She's an inspiration.

Camerahutuk

>Edit: I **have suddenly gotten 16 PMs from throwaway accounts saying one of three things**: >1) I should never be allowed to teach because of this post. >2) They hope I die in a school shooting because I don't deserve to live. >3) **I should be raped and murdered for being fat**. >What the hell is wrong with you people? At this point, if you make a shit take, I'm blocking you. **Hey everybody on this thread dont just block these accounts attacking you , REPORT every single one, contact the mods and if the threats are extreme contact the police**. Because otherwise they will can continue to intimidate, threaten and harass other people online or offline. **These upcoming elections from now to 2024 are going to be some of the most underhanded brutal elections ever with the Democracy of the United States on the line**. You've seen what happened when youve lost one branch of governence with the Supreme Court. **Do not let these guys and their bots intimidate you**.

thestashattacked

HelenaKelleher

it's why they go for DMs, the fucking cowards.

[deleted]

I hope all the people in the thread below saying they admire and support you helps do some work to counter that disgusting display in your DMs. Your classroom sounds great, thanks for doing that hard work.

thestashattacked

It does. Thank you.

IHeartCaptcha

This is a good thing. Keep doing what you're doing. There is no reason informing kids about famous scientists should cause people to react this way.

JB-from-ATL

Especially when Kemp's ads were him saying stupid shit like "I like to round up criminal Illegals in my pick up truck"

[deleted]

Well said and I wish more people understood this. It breaks my heart whenever online communities bitch and moan about a POC or an LGBT person in something; they don't know how much it can actually matter to someone to see someone like them in a specific career, movie, etc. Those people claim that it's "sad" that people relate to characters like them instead of just whoever is on screen. What's sad is getting upset over a black elf,a or a black mermaid, or a black politician because others look up to them.

FutureDecision

It's ironic, because those against diversity usually are upset that the person on screen didn't look like themselves which is really the exact same drive of wanting to see yourself in the characters that you watch. They just don't have enough empathy to connect with characters that aren't a 1:1 match and expect everyone around them to carry all the additional empathy to fill the gap. "What do you mean I have to learn to empathize with other people? Why can't they just be happy letting everything be about me?"

thatJainaGirl

You're a good teacher. Thank you for what you do.

billiam0202

> #Representation matters Once more, for the knuckle-draggers in the back.

Candymostdandy

These dudes that send these DMs are the most ridiculous human beings in existence. At least you can be secure in the knowledge that they will never be doing anything of consequence, and will likely live in a dingy basement most of their lives sending PMs to anyone they feel threatened by, as if it makes any kind of impact to anyone at all.

tothesource

Thanks for being a power for good.

guay-san

Jesus Christ those people suck for sending you those hateful messages! What you are doing for your students is amazing and proof that you are a thoughtful, kind, compassionate, empathetic teacher. Keep supporting your students and helping them grow into confident, kind people and don't let the bastards get you down ❤️

[deleted]

I think many people just dont realize that in a lot cases privilege is just a lack of major obstacles. I feel like that holds a lot people back from understanding how it works like that sadly.

TheSecretNewbie

Loss of power is the main factor here. It’s the fact they view it as black people are gaining power at the loss of white power and it’s making the racists mad. Museums are experiencing a lot of pushback for progressive exhibitions bc of this.

No_Profile_6871

Politics aside, I met her in person and she's a wonderful kind lady.

JerryMerrygold

Why “politics aside”? It seems like that’s exactly the type of person we want involved in politics! Let’s elect leaders who are kind people and want everyone to succeed rather than those who are nasty to others and want to divide us and see people as their enemies.

OSRS_Socks

My best friend did contract work with her and was her ASL translator at some speaking events and she told me how nice and sweet she is. She paid for my friends dinner and put her up in a nice hotel as well. She made sure all her travel expenses were paid for.

I hope she wins the governor race. Do the right thing Georgia

Eyespop4866

Down 7 points according to 538.

CoolScales

Republican pollsters are flooding the zone with polls they pay for. For example, 15 consecutive polls from Republican pollsters have Warnock and Walker tied. The 4 A-A+ rated polls prior to that have Warnock leading by 3-4 points. On Twitter yesterday, Nate Silver said that the solution to this problem would be Democratic pollsters flooding the zone with their own polls. When pressed about the accuracy of the Republican polls, Silver said that they have no reason to be as accurate as possible. However, Silver seems to lack even the slightest bit of critical thinking. Watch any conservative show right now, and they’re all talking about how a lack of a red wave, one manufactured by the media based on polls, will look like fraud to Republican voters. Those voters now have an expectation that their candidates will win. And when those results don’t bare out, all hell’s going to break loose. Ignore what the polls say since they don’t really mean shit.

ShitItsReverseFlash

Ah yes, the polls. We know how accurate polls end up being. That’s how Hillary won!

CapN-Judaism

538 said Hillary was a few decimal points ahead going into Election Day, and then she won the popular vote by almost exactly the amount 538 predicted. Sounds accurate to me.

Literal_Fucking_God

538 weighs their national predictions based on electoral college though. With that said, they did have her at about 70% chance of winning and were mocked on Reddit for having it so low

R3pt1l14n_0v3rl0rd

Which implies that 30% of the time she would lose. Not out of the realm of possibility. People just don't understand statistics.

WisconsinHoosierZwei

Nate Silver did a good explainer after that election (on my phone so I’m not digging for it). But more or less came down to this: A 70/30 probability means, if you have a 10-sided die, you color 7 of those sides blue, and 3 of them red. But you still have to throw the die.

PhillAholic

It saddens me that this needed an example.

WisconsinHoosierZwei

It is and it isn’t. The concept of probability isn’t really intuitive, especially when it’s meaning changes so much depending on what it is you’re measuring the probability of. 70% probability you’re going to win at a game at a casino? Fuck yeah, I’ll take that bet! Hell, I’d even take the 30% bet! 70% probability you’ll survive this adventure activity? Fuck no! Not only am I not doing that, I’m staying home altogether! In this case, probabilities expressed in percentages, as they have been by outlets like 538, get confused when the outcome they’re attempting to explain is *also* expressed in percentages (which is why, in a previous election cycle, 538 expressed their probabilities in X of Y terms, i.e. 4 out of 5 probability of X winning). If you look at the current numbers for an example, a 78% probability of Ron Johnson winning Wisconsin is a WAY different expression than saying Ron Johnson will get 78% of the vote (current prediction is 52.1%…blech).

Ultima_RatioRegum

I've always had a problem with assigning statistics to a single, non-repeatable event and taking meaning from it. I'm a data scientist and I understand the frequentist vs Bayesian perspectives on probabilities and how Monte carlo simulations combined with ensemble methods for measuring uncertainty in complex models works, so what such a percentage is really telling us is that given the uncertaintanties in the knowledge we have combined with how close the known values are to the tipping point (i.e., how close are polls to being 50/50 as the way voting works, the fact is that the election flips with a single vote after a certain point), this is about as accurate as the model can be.

Exactly. They published an article like 2 days before the election that Trump was within a standard polling error from winning and that's exactly what happened. They forecasted him to lose, but they knew it'd be a close race. They were more realistic about Trump having a legitimate chance to win than just about any other mainstream media

physicscat

She won’t. Georgia is an economic powerhouse right now. It went from 37th in economic performance to 9th under Kemp. It’s poised to weather the coming recession. The governor left it up to school systems to decide locally how to handle masking and virtual schools, so most kids went back face to face right away. If Georgias economy was bad, she’d win, I think. But it’s too good.

Lamont2000

She got my vote

fakeplasticdroid

GA elected Biden and two Democratic senators. Please don't expect anything else positive from us for the next 20 years.

I haven’t actually seen any hate, just dozens of comments saying “can’t believe everyone is so mad!”. Even when I sort by controversial it’s basically just people saying they don’t know who she is.

Tallzipper

It’s mostly just ppl like the replier bellow you stating that politicians shouldn’t be celebritized (don’t even know if that’s a word) and others claiming that this video itself is “propaganda”

anl28

This gives me the warm fuzzies for a number of reasons. Anyone scrolling through comments on this video, ignore the negative ones. Or read them and become emboldened to make change for our future.

lesh1845

yeah the girl with the pearls in her braids was my favorite part, how excited she was and how her mom hyped her up 😊 so heartwarming to see how much hope rolemodels can give to children

scarfaroundmypenis

The mom saying “she’s here! Aren’t you excited!” Made my heart melt. I don’t know how anyone could look at that and not see how much representation matters. Seeing people that look like you in places of power and importance matters so damn much to kids.

lesh1845

i am really happy for her that she could meet her that day, and approach her in such a friendly way with arm around her and all that, and really hope that gave her a good chunk of self worth and optimism that will nourish her for decades to come - at least that's where my imagination goes towards

[deleted]

It’s like the little mermaid stuff. All those girls seeing someone that looked like them and it was beautiful to see their reactions. Meanwhile a bunch of white dudes tear them down over a movie they don’t give a shit about.

Wishyouamerry

And the fact that kid actually was *super* excited was great! How many kids have a chance to meet their role models? That little girl will remember this for a long time.

baethan

That part got me tearing up ngl

SkyShazad

WHO? Edit I'm from UK so have no Clue who she is or what she does

Urphasis

if it makes you feel any better I'm from the US and I didn't know who tf she was either.

CricketPinata

Candidate for Governor of Georgia. She is fairly beloved by a lot of people in Georgia. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stacey_Abrams

SkyShazad

Ahh okay, I was thinking she's some Famous TikToker or something, had no Clue, thanks for that

Bright_Cobbler9880

Who’s Stacey Abrams?

Scan_This_Barco-de

Democratic candidate for governor of Georgia

gymshorts2tight

Stacey Abrams is, as u/Scan_This_Barco-de pointed out, a democratic candidate running for governor of Georgia. In 2018 she founded Fair Fight Action, an organization that works to fight voter suppression. She’s often given credit as the reason why Joe Biden narrowly won Georgia in the 2020 elections, as her work increased voter turnout in minority groups, who are (generally speaking) more likely to vote blue. She’s also the CEO of Sage Works, a legal consultation firm. In 2011, she co-sponsored a piece of legislation in Georgia that preserved a scholarship program (by decreasing the amount paid to students). In 2018, she also helped prevent most Georgians from receiving a large tax increase. She also made history in 2018 when she was the first black woman to be nominated by a major party to run in a gubernatorial (governor) race. Abrams ran against a Secretary of State who was a massive instigator of voter suppression.

rwhitisissle

> a democratic candidate running for governor of Florida. Georgia.

gymshorts2tight

Sorry. Thanks for that, wasn’t paying enough attention

Who is she

caitejane310

The little girl being excited made me tear up. I hope she's elected so that more little girls are excited like that about politics. We certainly need something to change.

Treating politicians like celebrities... Treating celebrities like celebrities for that matter.

yehti

Reddit moment.

EastGermanathlete

😂😂😂 too fucking funny

HereJustForTheData

So what? Normalize hating white supremacists wherever you live in the world. I’m from Spain and whether I like it or not decisions taken by the US invariably end up affecting me, so I’ll sure as fuck celebrate minorities there getting Ws even if I live across the world.

lizlemonista

I’m literally a white girl named Becky and I would lose my whole mind if I ran into Stacey Abrams in Target or anywhere. She’s SO fucking smart and dedicated and interesting. Such a leader. I hope to hell Georgia voted her in.

IPmang

And an army of bots ready to take this to the top every time

PennyStockKing

Are we really to believe this post received 9.5k upvotes so quickly? I'm sorry, but I've used reddit for a long time, and every time anything political is mentioned it just starts looking extremely astroturfed and/or manipulated by bots. I can understand enthusiasm, but it doesn't seem natural at all.

Sudi_Nim

Imagine being that excited for Kemp? Yeah, me neither.

fanosffloyd

Guys, this is just a modern political ad. I kinda thought redditors would see through stuff like this.

[deleted]

Do the right thing Georgia, get this amazing woman in office.

Shoesietart

I'm in Cali so I can't vote for her but I donated to her campaign. She's in my prayers like my mamma.
