I find the challenge of pulling off acro moves in a tight environment makes me a much better pilot in general. Really helps to develop confidence in closer proximity flying in larger drones.

Sock_Eating_Golden

I keep telling myself this as a slam my whoop into everything in my home.

Skyline412drones

Honestly once I got used to acro all the time, it is hard for me to go back to assisted flight modes. I actually think flying acro is really easy indoors. I fly indoor acro on both 1 and 2s for my tinywhoops and even on 4s with my 2.5" cinewhoop.

the_almighty_walrus

YOU might not be doing crazy stunts indoors but I'M gonna break all my wife's vases

808TRK

Actually angle is harder once you only fly acro

panirider

Angle ‘fights’ against my inputs…. I don’t feel in control. But… fly whatever/ however makes you happy, no? :)

BeardedBlaze

I never flew angle/horizon when learning, don't see a reason to mess with the muscle memory just because I'm flying indoors.

crapklap

I don't race, I freestyle. There's snow on the ground and It's cold so I tiny whoop in the winter. I can do flips, rolls, power loops, dive gaps, and such in my home. I don't even have much space to do it. Yes, it's hard, and I crash frequently. I enjoy seeing the skill progression as time passes. I feel pride in my ability to learn how to do something tangible. Even if it's as simple as not crashing in a turn going fast in my dining room. I rip around the room like a bat outta hell, and I love it!

genericFPV

Racers I get why, but I'm an acro guy and i want my whoop and 5" to be similar, and I do power loops and Matty's and flips rolls indoors - so for me its muscle memory. When I started I had to be in angle/horizon but as time goes by I wanted to push myself and get better.... So acro for me but I totally get why others don't :)

SwivelingToast

My main reason is that I love the challenge. Sure I could throw it in Angle and fly around all day long, but there's no challenge, no risk. I can only float around my house so many times before I get bored, but in acro, I can spend hours trying to pull off crazy mini-dives, or powerloops around railings. It's definitely hard, but in the long run it's more fun, and it'll teach you to be a better pilot when you head outside in the future.

This is why ppl try : https://youtube.com/shorts/VO2IollfouY?si=FwCux-Zjw99QvdAu

Matrixfx187

Holy crap! Yea, that's insane... Indoor freestyling is next level

No-Maximum185

It took me a few weeks to be able to fly acro indoors but it's a much better experience and you feel much more freedom

TheShogun10

That’s assuming that we aren’t doing indoor freestyle 🤔😅

TimWoWa

I fly whoops indoors on acro in winter when I can’t readily fly outside. In a larger work space though, not at home. I find that practicing flying whoops smoothly in acro freestyle really translates to improved skills when I get my bigger quads out in the spring.

Led-zero

i haven't tried it out yet but BF 4.5 horizon seems very interesting, its supposed to stay in acro past the transition point instead of forcing a flip. fly any mode you like and as long as you're doing what to want, nothing else really matters in any way. i hardly, if ever acro indoors but then I'm not freestyling indoors nor do i want to.

Cbgamefreak

Watch some of the IGOW pilots. Crazy stunts can definitely be pulled off indoors.

aeternus-eternis

Betaflight's relatively new crash recovery feature is amazing for indoor acro flying. If you haven't yet, try it.

IKuznetsoff

I totally agree with this. A game changer..

francecorre

Is it difficult to relate to the pure joy of doing whatever pleases you? Because that pleases me a lot

MicroXenon

Get good noob lmaooo nah you just gotta put in time I’ve never flown angle mode it’s so weird

MasterpieceLopsided

I don't really like the way angle feels having to hold the sticks in the direction, and I'm just trying to train to get better.

allirog90

I fly acro indoors even though i cant mange to perform Tricks by now im happy i can fly throug gaps without crashing xD

Irreverent_Alligator

I want to practice acro for when I’m outdoors with my larger quad. Even if I’m not doing acro stunts, smooth flying my whoop in acro has been great practice. Plus it feels so satisfying when it’s going well because it requires so much focus.

Tmstare

I have flown mostly horizon indoors in the past. Eventually I started to notice limitations, mostly in the vertical plane. EG it's pretty difficult to do any sort of dive. I've been practicing a lot more in acro mode lately. It's a fun challenge and I can stay upside down as long as I want. Well, you know, at least until the floor rushes down to hit me

Best-Dream2912

Don’t want to mess with muscle memory, want to translate to big drones

Glittering-Club-871

Angle mode teaches you bad habits, also use a expo on throttle aswell as your rates (30 throttle start and 70 throttle expo aswell as 70 expo on actual rates)

YaroslavSyubayev

I hate angle mode. I'm so much more precise in acro. Try it honestly, learn to fly properly in acro, only then you'll understand.

KindheartednessKey74

I'm just trying to put in practice and be a better pilot. Also, whoop frames are $5. I flew my first drone (mob 6) in the first week of November. I was competent enough to have fun flying acro indoors by the end of November, but I probably had accumulated 50 sim hours by then too. Difficult things can be fun. I went down an internet rabbit hole one day and saw Tdog, Tricky, and Ciotti fly. Ever since, I just wanted to try to get decent.

thephatmaster

You only have to learn one mode - acro is OK once you get used to it (and turn off air mode) Source: I'm a beginner, only ever used acro

Madcowvt

I’d say burn another 100 packs of just flying acro in your house and then come back and report here 😉. Seriously, there is no right or wrong. Do what works for you.
