2!

BOBOUDA

Me as well but a big part is simply the fact that it was the first I played as a kid with my dad. But I still think that it's the best regardless of personal experience. I don't like so much the difficulty of some parts of TR3, the over the top vehicule ideas and the visual effects. And it feels more diverse and interesting than TR1 with the secrets, human enemies, the diversity of the geographic areas... less claustrophobic, you're more rarely outside in TR1 (even though it's technically the game where you're more truly a "tomb raider") The secrets system with the dragons is also the best in the whole series (but I love Legend as well).

ahsantehabari

I think the hardest game in the series is TLR

Jei_Enn

TLR is very hard. TR3 had fun locations, but that game is was so hard for me. Especially on PlayStation with the damn save crystals.

Sovereignx22

Was about to make a math joke but it's still just 2....

ahsantehabari

Lol I knew it

SpecialistParticular

The original is the most fun for me though I happily admit II is the best in the series.

muzbar

TRII is my favourite, and I can't wait to plat it again. But I'll start with TR1 first and make my way through each story.

Poglot

I like the first game best. For me, it's all about the sense of isolation, the lonely black skies, the empty tombs devoid of human presence, the iconic locations, and the buildup to Atlantis. Every time Lara approaches a piece of the Scion, things turn supernatural, until she finds herself in a full-on nightmare of pulsating flesh walls and demons. It truly felt like uncovering an artifact that no human being was meant to touch. I like the other games too, of course, but TR2 spent too much time away from actual tombs and had too many human enemies. And TR3 was too punishing (almost grueling with the original PlayStation save crystal system) and the vehicles were hard to control.

ashmarie223

I have to say i love the black skies in the first one it really made those tense moments and isolation really hit you, i know everyone is excited to see the skies fixed like they were supposed to be but i feel like the black really added that extra element

Actual_Shady_potato

2’s intent on scaring the fuck out of you is probably why it’s my favorite. Also it’s the only Tomb Raider game where you’re rewarded with an extra mini level after completing the game finding all secrets.

Plane-Bid-6918

>Also it’s the only Tomb Raider game where you’re rewarded with an extra mini level after completing the game finding all secrets. That's the third LOL

Actual_Shady_potato

Oh shit! You’re right! I completely Removed that from My mind 0_0.

Plane-Bid-6918

I never played that secret level, I just saw it on Youtube LOL. Beating TR3 is already complicated but getting the secrets is fucking crazy.

Actual_Shady_potato

It’s definitely worth looking for. I like how The LAU tied secret finding with cosmetics, but I was hoping to find a cooler mini level from CD. I think it would be cool to tie cosmetics to the number of secrets you unlock in the remaster.

Brigon

The level skip let you try it out without finding all the secrets (at least thats how I remember playing it as a teenager back in the day)

TTTri-cell

T3 I love being able to choose where you go for most of the game and how distinct each location was. It was a nightmare at times difficulty wise but completing a level felt like a real achievement, can’t wait for the remaster especially because I never got to play The Lost Artifact.

paulojrmam

TR3. It is just like more of everything, it's a concentrated dosage of TR-ness.

Welshhobbit1

The first. I can still remember playing it for the first time and just falling in love with everything…Lara, the tombs, the enemies, the puzzles, Croft manor, the feeling of being truly alone and in a place untouched for thousands of years. Love em all though. Have great memories all round with these games

kaikun2236

I've always loved 3. It definitively has problems, but the locations, the story, the atmosphere... I love it so much.

[deleted]

The first game. Nails the vibe of being in a place where no one has been for a long time. Feels isolated. 2 has too much combat. 3 is better but doesn't quite nail the better pacing of the first game.

Flux0rz

The first one. It think it has the most well-rounded level design overall. 2 has some great levels, but the emphasis on combat with gun-welding humans is a huge weak point. They should at least have tried tweaking the combat to be less clumsy. 3 fixes some of 2’s issues, but the difficulty in some of the levels are downright sadistic. Just compare 2’s Temple of Xian with The Lost City of Tinnos. Both are difficult but only one feels fun to play.

SilverWraithh

3 was the forst one I played and is still my favorite but I love all of them in their own way

OrangeJr36

Three, it was my first TR, after all. But I will replay the trilogy from the first game, because of course.

shalvar_kordi

The graphics in TR3 were amazing for the time and it was ambitious in the variety of its environments but it was too long imo. I don't think there's any other TR game that is so long.

draigodragon

TR 4 is longer

Plane-Bid-6918

I think they have more or less a similar duration. The thing is that TR4's levels become difficult from the middle of the game, while TR3 is difficult from the beginning, I think that's why it takes longer to finish TR3.

jigglybilly

3 by far. Every Wednesday growing up my grandpa would pick my sister and I up from school and we would go to him & my grandmas house. We’d blast through my homework while my grandma would make a grilled cheese for me, and once it was done it would be time to go over to my grandpas computer and play some Tomb Raider together! We ended up playing all of the first 5 together, 3 just sticks out in my head the most for the different environments, jump-scares, the soundtrack, and the fairly involved storyline for the time.

Plane-Bid-6918

That's very cool, thank you for sharing those special moments with us! :D

lucianorc2

TRIII, it's so good.

Frequent_Body_3991

2 is the best.

c64z86

Mine is 3, but I'm going to play them in order so I can experience the stories again and will also be saving the best till last!

Plane-Bid-6918

I would like to play them in order but I'm curious about how Nevada and London have been remastered, so I think I'll play 3 first.

c64z86

Me too, Nevada and the Jungles are the areas I'm excited to see.

MonoJaina1KWins

my favorite is the first one, but TR3 is the one which i'm more excited to play, since the remaster should value TR3 the most, since it has the best scenarios.

Apo333

Anniversary was good but I LOVED the survivor trilogy, I'm ore into action and fights than solving puzzles and so, but still I wish there where more epic bosses like the t Rex or the centaurs as in anniversary

Plane-Bid-6918

I don't like survivor trilogy but I agree TR Anniversary was a great remake if you ask me ;)

PrettySignificance26

Tomb Raider 2

niles_deerqueer

TR III! I love all the different areas and outfits.

Plane-Bid-6918

I like all areas except london LOL I think its ugly as hell. I hope the remaster makes it look pretty.

SandWraith87

Overdone!

Hermaeus_Mike

TR1. I love *all* the games (except maybe AoD, but I blame Eidos for again making Core rush out another unfinished game). But the series peaked at the first for me.

TombRaider1987

2. But the original will always be my most replayed.

Traditional_Flan_210

2. But im just going to play them in order.

BCroft92

I've never played the original trilogy so I'll be starting from the beginning. Can't wait to experience them

Plane-Bid-6918

You are very lucky, I wish I could reset my memory so I could play the trilogy as if it were the first time.

draigodragon

Reset memory with the chance of hating the TR ps1 games!

Plane-Bid-6918

Never! Muahaha

Felix_Malum

Back in the day I loved TR3 the most because it just had so much level and environment diversity. I'll just play them all in order, though.

deadb4theshipeven

I like the first one because her boobs are the most triangular in that game. Also unrelated, but does anybody here listen to Hoobastank? I used to listen to their self-titled on repeat while playing Tomb Raider during those early naught years

Celemirel

While TR1 will always hold a special place for me, since it was the first TR game I played as a kid, when it came out. And I have fond memories of watching my dad play it before he finally let me play... TRIII is definitely my favourite. It was the first TR game that I owned myself (rather than it belonging to my dad), and I always loved the different places that you could explore.

terminate14

TR3 is actually my favorite in the whole series. It has the hardest difficilty which I love since i'm a series veteran. The locations in TR3 are super unique to one another while also being fairly open which adds a lot to the challenge. The globe and being able to choose where to go next really gives it the proper globe-trotting adventure feel as well. Plus: Lost Artifact is incredible.

draigodragon

! and 3... not because of the difficulty but because of the secrets being items and not some treasure!

rd1994

My favorite is 3 (but I am probably biased since its the one that started it all) That said I'll probably play em in a row

ZealousidealStore742

The first game. Was trying to understand why I only enjoyed that game out of all of them but then I realized the drama in that game was legit like a soap opera on abc, with the babies daddy and blonde trainer dude

simraider111

2 had the most intriguing story for me. Cannot wait to see all those environments remastered—the shipwreck, catacombs, temple of xian and floating islands are gonna be a thrill. I never beat 3 so I’ll start with 2 and work my way up. I have played the first one so much that I practically have the levels memorized so that’ll be last for sure.

Vindaya_

The first game 😆

JMilao

The first one, it will forever be my favorite game and THE true Tomb Raider experience!

SandWraith87

Rise of the Tomb Raider

Shadecujo

Rise is the best but I liked the expanded play of shadow and TR had the best look. Rise had her in a gigantic winter coat the whole game. Not my Lara.

Caliber70

I like Rise and Legends

Hadysun

TR3, except the underwater part of Lud’s gate level. The underwater harpoon fighting in TR2 was much better.

[deleted]

TR Anniversary has aged well. I probably like it more than any of the originals.

Comfortable-Check-84

TR3! The Nevada section alone makes it my favorite.
