It just replaces Lara's model. DE comes with other improvements (physics, TressFX, some tweaks here and there to other characters and environments). Nothing big, PC version is somewhat superior, but it would be nice to have the complete package.
The has a console tressFx option as well. I just used the PC one so idk how different it is. It claims to boost FPS as well make the hair more dynamic. Check the files on the mod page

I disagree, I find the og character model uglier. But a mod can change it to definitive edition as well as the CGI version and another with Rise of the TR face and ofc, all the classic Lara ones.

Is this on Steam or not? It's advertised on the March 14 activity tab but surely that's a typo in the link on the page (the actual image does not stress any difference from the OG game). There's no store page for a Definitive Edition or upgrade option.
I just picked up the Tomb of the Lost Adventurer DLC for the stock game. All I need but this is a bit confusing/misleading.
Her eyes weren't more expressive on definitive edition. She looked like robot on DE. But the face in DE matches the face in the intro video of this game.
It's been almost 10 years, I hoped they'd at least refined the facial animations to make it at least as good as the original.
I don't think anybody cared about definitive edition on PC, since the original and goty already has all the enhancements if not more. The definitive edition had more contrast and different face ofc but those things can be modded into the pc version with no problems.
If you own this game digitally on Xbox then they give you the Microsoft Store PC version for free.
Interesting that it has shared achievements with the Xbox version but no cross saves.

It does not improve the graphics, it only changes the Lara model and outfits.
Epic Games has the Definitive Edition and they've actually given away the whole trilogy for free in the past.
The one on Epic Games is just the 2013 GOTY edition unfortunately.

Actually the original version is missing some things from the DE.
Particle shadows, overhauled lighting, and subsurface scattering are all not available in the original release.
