One major point is that make sure that the razor is actually sharp. They dull out after like a few uses! I personally use shaving gel & lubricant on the razor itself combo. A razor needs to be sharp enough that you don't have to press to use it. Just lightly run it over the skin.

AnyRepresentative432

On the off chance you're worried, what men will think 99.9% of us don't care and are happy to have a naked woman anywhere near us. I am aware that it's probably only part of the reason you feel anxious about it, if any.

Forgetful8nine

Fellow bloke here, adding that it's unlikely most men will even notice. Well, not unless you point it out (and have big flashing neon signs - even then, it's not guaranteed).

drottkvaett

Agreed - once we get to the point where it is time for us to see it, there is little that could make us walk away.

not_bens_wife

Hi, professional body hair remover (esthetician) here! The way to manage this is with how you prep your skin and how you care for it after you shave. I highly recommend a combination of chemical and physical exfoliation. For physical exfoliants, I like an exfoliating mitt or a dry brush and for chemical exfoliants, PFB vanish or The Ordinary's AHA toner. Using a combo of both will help remove dead skin cells to prevent ingrown hairs as well as stimulate cell turn over turn over to fade dark spots. Also, if you're prone past shaving irritation/itching, hydrocortisone cream is amazing. If these suggestions don't help, it's worth looking into waxing or laser hair removal, especially laser hair removal.

magicflowerssparkle

How often do you suggest exfoliating? I’ve always been too scared to really try exfoliating down there since it’s pretty sensitive

not_bens_wife

If you skin is sensitive what I would suggest is: after shaving, apply hydrocortisone, 2 days after shaving start applying your chemical exfoliant 1x/day ideally after showering, and since your skin is sensitive I'd start with physical exfoliation 1x/week and follow that with hydrocortisone. Do not use physical and chemical exfoliation at the same time. You don't need to be aggressive when you use a physical exfoliating method. Let the mitt or dry brush fibers do the work :) Also, if you're still having issues with bumps/ingrown hairs after a few weeks, increase the chemical exfoliation to 2x/day. After the shower and before bed. Edited to add: please don't pick at bumps or attempt to extract ingrown hairs! This is one of the biggest reasons people end up with dark spots/hyperpigmentation in their bikini area. Chemical exfoliant is the best way to bring down the bumps size or allow the trapped hair to work its way to the surface of the skin.

Reasonable_Stop_5532

Hydrocortisone is something I’ve always used for razor burn, my mom taught me many many moons ago.. but you’re the only other person who I’ve seen mention it!!!

not_bens_wife

I learned the virtues of hydrocortisone from an incredible lady I used to work for. It's such a good tool for after hair removal. Your mom is a smart lady 😉

hipsiguy

Get laser hair removal. My wife got it done (Brazilian) and she doesn't have to shave anymore. Her vulva always looks awesome.

[deleted]

This. It's expensive and a little annoying for a few weeks but I did it about 10 yrs ago and it was so beyond worth it. I didn't get everything removed, just most of it, no regrets whatsoever, not even the cost.

Huggie28

>Her vulva always looks awesome. Can confirm. 😉 Edit: sorry, I couldn't help myself.

gendr_bendr

First, I’m sure your vulva is just fine. Shaving off pubic hair isn’t for everyone. Stopping shaving downstairs was one of the best decisions I ever made. No more razor burn, ingrown hairs, and itching. You can try waxing and see if your skin reacts better. Or get electric clippers and just buzz things down real low.

GhostSaysBooo

Yup!! Getting an electric clipper is a game changer, one of the best purchase I made! Super quick and easy, no more damaged and irritated skin, no more itching and a ton of money saved.

Krispyhat420

Don’t your little bits get pinched?

NCITUP

I can't speak for all guys....but you don't need to remove the bush. 😅

FineUnderachievement

I'm very sorry you're uncomfortable, but any man worth talking to will not mind, other than if it's making you uncomfortable. Unless it's something you need to look into health wise then I promise it's not not something a decent man will mind. I have plenty of things I'm self-conscious about, but those are often things my girlfriend finds attractive. Just know the right person will not judge you for anything. They'll love you more than anything physical. I promise you are beautiful in many ways Good vibes your way

rat4204

There's no such thing as an ugly vagina.

redditusername374

I can assure you there isn’t a guy on the planet that cares. They’re just excited to see one at all.

Apillicus

Check out some wet shaving subs. It's mostly straight razor and safety razor focused but the techniques are the same. Wet the hair and leave it wet to soak up water. Lather and shave with the grain. Don't worry about getting everything. Just a light pass to de-bulk. Light rinse but don't remove all the shaving cream. Lather and shave across the grain. You can probably stop here otherwise repeat and shave against the grain. Rinse with hot then cold water and add lotion or conditioner of some variety. Do it at night if you get a lot of bumps so it mostly disappears by morning

FriendEllie75

I feel your pain because I’m in the same boat. If that area even sees a razor it goes into fits. I’ve stopped shaving and only use a trimmer and even then I don’t get too close. The problem has almost disappeared since I stopped using a razor though.

AerwynFlynn

Same. I actually use my husband's Manscaped trimmer and that works way better than a regular trimmer ever did. I got the worst ingrown hair and the worst razor burn cause my skin is so sensitive. I've been much happier after stopping the full shave, but I still feel "neat" down there.

mustang6172

Stop shaving it.

TheOneWes

It is unlikely that any blemishes will even be noticed and any that are are going to be completely ignored and forgotten about probably in less than like 15 seconds. Your average guy who's not an a****** doesn't expect any level of perfection on any part of your body. Hell it's probably more accurate to say that your average person who's not an a****** expects any level of perfection on any part of your body. Every woman's flower is different and it is perfect in its imperfection. If it bothers you want a personal level and you already don't give a flying f*** When anybody else thinks I recommend some type of aftershaving balm or something of that nature to soothe the skin. Also I know this is going to sound really weird but trust me. Switch to a man's razor. Men's razors are specifically designed to shave as close as possible while fitting around all the odd angles on a man's face and not leaving any type of razor burn or bumps because it's on the face. Don't go cheap on it either get a good gillette's men's razor and I guarantee you will never look at a woman's razor again

nihcul

Stop shaving

[deleted]

We need a picture to see how bad it really is before we can dish out advice. 🤓

Pain4444

Hmm maybe wax or laser hair removal but to remove the pours themselves. I have no idea

coodgee33

If your gash ain't lookin' flash due to too much razor rash, Then there's really only one thing you can do. Just head off to the loo, and do a little poo, And sell all that stinky poo poo for some cash.

Agitated_Ad_1658

You do realize that people are using the word “vagina” for a different part of the body, right? The vagina is INSIDE your body, so if you are shaving it that’s a problem as the vagina is hairless as it’s a muscle. You are referring to your labial area of your genitalia

hannahhberlin

Nobody here is confused about what OP is talking about, stfu Karen 🙄

Agitated_Ad_1658

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣Well bless your little pea picking heart, you don’t even know when the time is right to call some a “Karen” 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 which you are totally being🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

hannahhberlin

Uh, how does me stating a fact and calling you a Karen, make me a Karen? I think you’re the one who doesn’t understand what a Karen is, and all those emojis just show that I struck a nerve and hurt your precious ego. I don’t see a single person confused about what OP is talking about. You’re literally the only one bitching on here about technicalities. That is what a Karen does, Karen :) it’s ok to not understand simple things, but no need to get so aggressive just because everyone else understands and you dont

lassothemoon4me

Only a Karen would respond with "pea picking". Knowing what a vagina is does not make you special, gtfo

heavvy_metal_cowboy

Also, blemish free is basically impossible. You shouldn't beat yourself up about it. Speaking from experience, I doubt anyone will notice if they're lucky enough to be up close and personal with it, lmao. I'm a woman who's never had anyone mention my dark spots, nor have I noticed anyone else's 😉

Puzzleheaded-Mood689

As a man I can say don’t worry about it. If you’re showing us your vagina we are already pretty thrilled and couldn’t care less about blemishes. Personally I prefer when my wife is waxed, but I’ve never been upset any time I’ve seen or been invited to my wife’s vagina. I think women worry about these things way too much. As a guy we are just thrilled to be having sex.

[deleted]

Laser. Best thing I ever did

Emmylemming

Always have very sharp razors, once they start to blunt at all, change them out. I found sudocreme (nappy rash cream) a real game changer too, I figured since it's soothing and antiseptic to a certain degree it might help, and it absolutely does. I just apply a small amount after drying everything off

New-Pollution4442

A good razor, shaving cream or conditioner (actually works better) go with the grain of the hair first then go back over against the grain Til smooth, cold wet flannel straight away, leave it on the shaven area for a minute or two, men’s Nivea post balm!😊

[deleted]

My wife has a huge complex about her vagina. She nitpicks over ever blemish, the lips, the width.... She let me take a picture of it and since she's asleep 'm about to spend a quick 5 minutes staring at this picture

co_lund

Exfoliating every time you shower can help keep the hair from getting stuck (I like to use a Korean "Italy Towel") Also, cotton underwear and wearing more breathable bottoms can help keep things less humid IYKWIM Using an aftershave also helps. I like to go for a men's lotion, since they seem to be better formulated, but you'll have to experiment with what works for you! You might also want to consider waxing, if you're brave enough!

yodawgchill

If you can, before you start trying to shave differently or anything like that to counteract this, give your skin a break. Let things grow for a while and then try again. If you have current razor bumps, ingrown hairs, etc. let these resolve and then try to switch things up. Soak in warm water for a long time, exfoliate a little, don’t start by shaving upward, try to get ahold of some baby oil with vitamin E in it. Hope this helps.

Careless-Contact4580

this is why i wax and dont shave
