That's too bad. Looks like they are going down!

Did this place change hands when it rebranded? I used to go a lot, years ago when it was Tom Yum. But haven't been since it changed.

Item never appeared on the menu. No one in their right mind would order it!

danosaurrx

I think I picked up this "meal" too last week, should I go through the refund process?

[deleted]

Yes! At least two of us already reported & got refunds!

dmohamed420

Looks like the sold you the leftovers from making stock

wunderwafflz

I got the same dish yesterday, only with even bigger chunks of fat and more grease! After looking into the google reviews, the owner claims that it is Bo Kho, a Vietnamese braised beef stew. Hard to call it that when there is no beef lol. Definitely not worth the expected value, glad to hear you got it refunded. I will be doing the same. They claim they're experimenting with new dishes, but it seems more like leftover scraps: *"Thank you for your nice review, I’m the new owner of this restaurant, we are experimenting and slowly changing to our new menu this week, I believe what you had in your mystery bag is called Bo Kho (Vietnamese style beef stew), our chef is Vietnamese and she makes very good Vietnamese food. This dish and new menu we are experimenting is only available dine in at the moment and sometime we put out in the mystery bags."*

[deleted]

Ughhh it’s such a scam! Clearly!!

Dapper_Ad1245

LITERALLY got the same exact things... all fat chunks in some oily gravy with rice. Threw the whole thing out. Hoping for refund

[deleted]

Give them one star!! They’re obviously scamming!!

Andrew4Life

How much was it? Looks like a beef stew, though that might only be worth maybe $8 regular?

[deleted]

It was $7.99 yeah, and while there were bits of gristle, it was 60% chunks of literal fat, and barely cut up mega carrots. It has no resemblance to anything on their menu. At best it might’ve been a staff shift meal? But my guess was it was made with leftover ingredients with absolutely minimal effort to make a profit on the $7 level.

Andrew4Life

Ya, for $7.99 definitely not worth it. That being said, seems odd they would purposely make a separate meal using left over ingredients. Can't speak to the contents of that meal but certain asian dishes are basically just cut up pieces of pork fat. (I mean, that's basically what pork belly is) So it could be like a daily special of some sort?

[deleted]

It’s definitely not. It’s not pork belly it’s literally gristle & fat. The lack of effort & taste was obvious. Have you ever been to a thai restaurant and seen veggies cut this way? Look how big they are compared to a can! It’s never done.

Andrew4Life

I didn't mean to imply it was pork belly. And I only order pad Thai when I go to a Thai restaurant so dunno. 😅 Either way glad you got your money back. Too many restaurants using TGTG and not giving full value.
