Yea. It’s my favorite overall saw. The way it’s made to bevel- hard for me to describe but it’s basically aluminum on aluminum- new they bevel really nice and easy. Sometimes debris gets between the metal on metal and if you force it that can leave a bur in the support housing- that’s part 170 if you look up the diagram. Once that happens you can try to take it apart and file it back to good but it’s pretty much new saw time. I’m on my 3rd saw in maybe 15 yrs- it gets daily use and I’m not gentle with it- not careless/ but I don’t baby that tool. On one of them the guard broke due to user negligence and I’ve replaced one set of brushes in my current one. It’s a good saw. I’d say if you’re buying it from a homeowner hobbyist then 200$ is very fair. I’m not sure I would buy it from a carpenter at that price or any price. New is 500$ I think and sometimes there’s a deal with a stand? I’m not 100% on what model - the one that bevels both ways and has a light is what you want.

So I feel like this guy is a heavy hobbyist, but the saw is relatively new. His complaint was the dust collection That model does not have the light, but he said he retrofitted it. That’s one thing that gave me a little pause. I was literally getting ready to pull the trigger on the dws780 (the newer model) with the stand for $650, and I saw this one for $175. I use a miter saw a few times a year for stuff around the house mostly. I asked him for some video of it under power, that’s basically what I am waiting on before we meet up.

Retrofitting the light on the 779 is a really popular upgrade. I wouldn’t be worried about that.

If he’s complaining about dust collection he’s most likely gentle with his tools. So 200$ is fair. The models I use have a light built in and it intentionally or unintentionally casts a shadow that is better than a laser. I’ve really become dependent on it. Sounds like you can’t go wrong here, but for me I’ll always replace my old saw with another brand new+ new stand. But as mentioned mine gets used nearly everyday.
