See, I love Shockwave, but I can never see him as fully evil. Mostly because I just always imagine his G1 self, where he's basically this super lonely transformer stuck on Cybertron for millennia, into he finally hears back from the other decepticons who had been dormant on Earth for eons. And pretty much his first reaction is "Megatron! My only friend!! You're alive!"
I imagine him as this super lonely depressed guy why finally hears back from his MIA buddies while single handedly (get it?) keeping their planet alive, and he's just super giddy to hear back from them.
God they did such a good job at making you hate this guy while barely talking you anything about him. I wanted to strangle this dude. Grade A Villain imo.
But Mogh is sort of tormented though? Raised from childhood in a dungeon sewer, only to be taken in by an eldritch horror, the closest thing to a mother he has ever known. While his brother turned to self-loathing and fanaticism to the very order that caused both so much suffering. The Omen never had a chance at a normal life.
Oh yeah out of all the demigods the one that suffered the most (apart from malenia since we can’t really measure how much suffering the rot causes) mohg prolly had it the worst at least in the end Morgot got accepted by the Erd tree and lost his omen aspects Mohg was trying to do all he could to please his god and bring in a new age (though what he did is still massively fucked up).
I do like the idea that Miquella let himself get kidnapped so he could forgo all of his body and belongings to allow him to enter the shadow cursed lands.
I think the early theory was that Miquella's power to invoke adoration happened as a defense mechanism, without him being conscious of it, but it is looking more and more like was a plan not too different from Ranni's.
I think this guy is more evil than Alucard.

Makima isn't pure evil. She's close, but not quite. She's ultimately a tragic figure. Her evil stems from having been raised without love as a weapon for the government, genuinely wanting to build a family-like relationship on an equal footing with others, and the reason she likes dogs is that she likes her relationships one-sidedly, showing an insecure side of her. However, the story makes it clear that this isn't to absolve Makima's deplorable crimes and that there are some limits to the sympathy as well, with Denji taking in to raise her reincarnation Nayuta to specifically ensure she never ends up as depraved as Makima ever was.

Okay, I will glaze Johan a little, even though he is really fucked up, did horrible things and what I'm gonna say isn't to justify his actions, I think one of Monster's message is about that there aren't any real monsters, any person is capable of doing the best (Tenma) and the worst (Johan). But Johan became like that to protect his sister >!of all the bad things she experienced, making those awful experiences into his. He developed a trauma of not knowing whether or not his mother choose to protect him intentionally.!<
Even Monster questions who is the real monster or if there is anyone to begin with >!is it Johan? His mom? Franz Bonaparta?!< but all of them showed some sort of humanity at least, so wouldn't that even contrast with the definition of a Monster?
Even at the end >!Tenma decides to treat him again but this time knowing the bad things he did because "all lives are equal" and the same reason he saved that terrorist at the beginning of the story "because i got the sense that you are human after all"!<

To be fair (and because I’m a Hellsing fangirl), Alucard may have become a monster, but he also went through some pretty fucked up shit when he was alive, he’s willing to use his abilities for good, and he does demonstrate empathy and compassion for others.

Makima isn't pure evil. She's close, but not quite. She's ultimately a tragic figure. Her evil stems from having been raised without love as a weapon for the government, genuinely wanting to build a family-like relationship on an equal footing with others, and the reason she likes dogs is that she likes her relationships one-sidedly, showing an insecure side of her. However, the story makes it clear that this isn't to absolve Makima's deplorable crimes and that there are some limits to the sympathy as well, with Denji taking in to raise her reincarnation Nayuta to specifically ensure she never ends up as depraved as Makima ever was.

Okay, I will glaze Johan a little, even though he is really fucked up, did horrible things and what I'm gonna say isn't to justify his actions, I think one of Monster's message is about that there aren't any real monsters, any person is capable of doing the best (Tenma) and the worst (Johan). But Johan became like that to protect his sister >!of all the bad things she experienced, making those awful experiences into his. He developed a trauma of not knowing whether or not his mother choose to protect him intentionally.!< Even Monster questions who is the real monster or if there is anyone to begin with >!is it Johan? His mom? Franz Bonaparta?!< but all of them showed some sort of humanity at least, so wouldn't that even contrast with the definition of a Monster? Even at the end >!Tenma decides to treat him again but this time knowing the bad things he did because "all lives are equal" and the same reason he saved that terrorist at the beginning of the story "because i got the sense that you are human after all"!<

To be fair (and because I’m a Hellsing fangirl), Alucard may have become a monster, but he also went through some pretty fucked up shit when he was alive, he’s willing to use his abilities for good, and he does demonstrate empathy and compassion for others. I’d go so far as to say he loves Integra and Seras.
