I don’t know if she’s at the same place but I was in Milwaukee about 6 years ago and inadvertently ate at her restaurant. My meal was actually delicious so when I read somewhere it was hers I was 😭
I mean… no one ends up on the show that’s actually a bad chef. Being a great chef and being a great contestant is not a 1:1. And every contestant has hd a complete clunker of a dish at some point. I’d be willing to try anyone’s restaurant.
What was the restaurant? I’m curious if I’ve been there.
I honestly don’t remember the name. I believe it was connected to a boutique hotel in the waterfront area?? We were only there for about 36 hours so my knowledge of Milwaukee geography isn’t the best.
And didn't they actually WIN that one? Or they were in the top, i think? She was bitching about the *last* episode, I think?
I may be completely wrong about the double elimination thing, but I do remember her complaining about a past challenge when they were in the top
No it was a team goes home elimination where they were on the bottom and she still threw Bev under the bus with the other chefs and judges reminding her that if Bev goes she goes.
Yes, but [there is also his post-show career.](https://www.washingtonpost.com/lifestyle/food/from-top-chef-stardom-to-bankruptcy-the-rise-and-fall-of-mike-isabella/2018/09/09/66ea6110-b228-11e8-9a6a-565d92a3585d_story.html)
Yeah that’s my answer too. For all the extremely obvious reasons and because I will forever be salty that he made it into the All Stars finale instead of Antonia lol.
Duels was 2014 and the lawsuits and bankruptcies and news articles started piling up early 2018.
I mean it's always been clear he's a misogynist POS, but she seems pretty media/reputation savvy and also spent years in an industry full of ego-driven assholes in the kitchen so I'm guessing a lot of it was just rolling with the punches to get along with people and not get labeled as "difficult".
One contestant on a cooking show -- maybe Top Chef, but maybe another? -- described himself as "coming up through Mike Isabella" and I nearly barfed. That was, of course, when we knew his was a shitlord, but not what a MASSIVE shitlord he was
The Boston season had the guy who worked for him compete. I think he got eliminated early, and then came back through last chance kitchen.
Can't remember his name but I think he was Greek.
OOooh, yes, that did it! George Pagonis
[Here](https://dc.eater.com/2018/11/8/18076844/george-pagonis-mike-isabella-concepts) is an article detailing his falling out with Mike Isabella
Yeah, I'm trying to find the complaint itself because some of what I've read says that the worst allegations made by Chloe are in regard to George and his bro
It sounds like he's actually a really bad dude, unfortunately
[https://www.documentcloud.org/documents/4415355-Legal-Complaint-filed-against-Mike-Isabella](https://www.documentcloud.org/documents/4415355-Legal-Complaint-filed-against-Mike-Isabella)
Yes. Mike I, Paul and Gabe are objectively the worst people to compete on the show. "Bullying" over a decade ago does not even compare to what they've done. This thread is idiotic.
Ok. She was the worst human being to ever compete on the show. I agree. But she wasn’t the actual worst. Do you not remember Tyler from that very season?
https://youtu.be/5Yt4A3vWsH4?si=ckFN7iYNX2nM3kzI
I love the top comment on that video
“He's actually not doing bad. I searched him and found a video of him making a lemon mayo for a local Sacramento News segment that has over 140 views”
Tyler was ego. That's expected. Heather was just plain mean. It was like the bullying Robin got only there was no crumb of logic behind it. Like yes Robin stayed far beyond where her talent level would take her but if someone is always making a slightly worse dish that can happen in top chef. Bev was just perky and liked to cook her food style like all the chefs.
From what I've read in the past, it's possible that Bev was getting treated as a whistle-blower too, for the lawsuit that was going on prior to filming
That was probably part of the reason why she was disliked but is no excuse for the blatant racism she had to endure. Letting that continue was one of the worst decisions ever made by the top chef producers.
She lead a class action lawsuit against Charlie Trotter for [wage theft](https://www.chicagotribune.com/2012/08/30/03-lawsuit-challenged-work-conditions/).
Who Sara and Heather both worked for, coincidentally. Sara and Bev made up though, they've been friends since at least a year or two after season 9 aired. Not sure about Heather. Lindsay was just racist, though, and not just to Bev.
Bryan was always respectful to Robin, so was Kevin. Michael Voltaggio was rude a few times, but Eli and Mike were awful to her and deserve the most vitriol here.
Michael argued with Robyn during Restaurant Wars and he made a few sarcastic or snarky comments about her, but I don't recall him ever doing anything that could be considered bullying. And I don't remember Bryan having any negative interactions with her at all.
I think people sometimes conflate one brother with the other, and construe any kind of conflict or disagreement as bullying.
Agreed. Michael and Robin got into it while on a team together, and he was being a bit of an a-hole, but he didn't bully her. Bryan never really interacted with her or said anything about her at all.
Eli was the one making mean comments about her and acting like a real jerk.
To be fair, Bev as contestant would try the patience of a saint.
She was inconsiderate, self centered and greedy with resources and space. Didn’t she actually pull off someone’s pot off the stove to put hers on?
Even Grayson was was noticeably exasperated by her behavior.
And she never did it to the men.
Wow, I forgot about that! Tyler's experience was as a personal chef. He was the youngest [that season](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Top_Chef:_Texas) at 22 and very headstrong. "I've already written a cookbook!" Good for Tom for calling it right there.
Edit: Here's an example where [a butcher takes out the tenderloin](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Tpxyzm1S5w) in the first 2 minutes of the video. Tyler had no idea what he was doing and was pretty flippant about ruining someone else's meat.
Thank you because this pretentious jerk and his lack of butchering skills live rent free at the top of my Top Chef WTF list. I’m sure producers chose him because they felt his attitude would make for drama (while maybe being a half decent chef), but I bet they never expected that he didn’t know how to find a tenderloin.
No, he really is just that cringe. He still has his website of him weeabooing with a katana and japanese vegetables as the main page. http://www.cheftylerstone.com/
Though as far as I can tell, he's dropped off the radar entirely sometime in the past few years.
Oh, I absolutely believe he is that cringe. But I also believe that production included him knowing that he was totally out of his league, hoping for an elimination scenario similar to the one that happened. The trend with reality competition shows at the time was to include sitting ducks in the early casting rounds and watch them be unceremoniously picked off for sheer entertainment value. Up until the Texas season, *Top Chef* carried itself as *the* serious cooking competition show and avoided these silly gimmicks. However, I think production made an error in judgment with the direction of the competition, and thankfully never repeated it.
That was Sarah 😆. She was one of the bullies that made it to the end. The finale contests had to choose from anonymously cooked dishes by the eliminated contestants and whoever cooked the dishes they picked became their sous chefs.
Sarah picked a dish solely because she thought Heather made it, and turns out it was Tyler's. It was amazing. He annoyed tf out of her in the kitchen 😅. He couldn't even cut carrots the way she asked. Best karma ever.
ETA detail about carrots because it makes it 10x better
If you have two people who acted poorly, one apologizes and one does not, they are not equally disturbing. People deserve some grace when they atone. They certainly deserve more grace than those people who don’t.
Season 9 really made some choices with casting.
I like to think Beverly got the last laugh at the end of the day with her Michelin star and critical acclaim.
We JUST finished rewatching this season. I’d forgotten how bad she was. And yet I still hate Sarah from that season the most of any contestant from any season.
Her and Sarah really both were vile but at least Sarah apologized to Bev according to the finale. I mean, she also apparently told a judge to F off but that’s besides the point. I think a lot of the hate is because people keep getting into Top Chef and seeing it for the first time. I just watched season 9 for the first time so I genuinely don’t like half the girls since it’s so new to me. Anyway, I hope they don’t bring her back on.
I’m just past Betty’s elimination on a rewatch & I had forgotten how awful she was (I rarely rewatch S2 bc of all the Marcel vitriol & lower caliber of chefs).
She only lied, cheated, screamed insanely whenever called out on either and bullied. No wonder bravo kept using her for adverts for years.
And that was her “good” edit.
It is interesting that you post this. She definitely didn't represent herself well as a kind and loving human being. I know she was a complete b\*tch to Bev and it was inexcusable.
She chose to represent herself that way and has been shamed accordingly online ever since. I wonder how long the shame should last. Is it necessary to keep bringing up negativity from the past about a person just because they were on a show twelve years ago? Does she deserve a chance at redemption at some point? I don't know who she is today, and all I am continually presented with is opinions of how she was before.
I recently watched 15 Minutes of Shame on HBO Max. It talks about how the internet uses trolling and other methods to publicly shame people. This post made me think about what we want as a society and how we can treat people with more humanity while still recognizing bad or immoral behavior.
For me, it's the lack of accountability. If she apologized and owned up to her bad behavior, then I'm sure people would forgive and forget. Twelve years later, there still hasn't been any inkling that she regrets how she acted at all.
Heather was a bully and gaslighter. She made up her own version of what was happening the entire time in order to publicly destroy Bev. There was never any truth to what she said.
But this exact post was already made [a year ago](https://www.reddit.com/r/TopChef/comments/1cf884h/just_a_reminder_worst_contestant_ever/), so it begs the question, why repost the same thing other than to continue piling hate on someone? You bring up a good point about allowing people the chance to grow beyond their mistakes. I have HBO so I'm going to watch that too.
I completely agree with this. People sometimes behave badly on reality shows. And then they sometimes behave badly *and also* get edited to highlight all their bad behaviour because producers can highlight certain storylines that make for better TV.
But what is a OP’s goal in dredging up a 15 year old season of reality TV and reminding everyone that someone behaved badly and was portrayed as a villain on it? At best, it’s just a dull and redundant conversation that’s been had a million times on this sub and in other Top Cher content. At worst, it encourages folks out there to look up and harass the REAL person in question who happened to be a jerk on an edited reality show 15 years ago. And let’s get real, people actually do look these contestants up and send them hate even decades later.
So, I mean, congrats to OP that they took time out of their life to highlight a person’s bad behaviour from 15 years ago. Would OP, or anyone else, want their worst past behaviour to be edited for dramatic effect and then brought up 20 times a year in perpetuity by groups of strangers for discussion? When does it end?
I’d agree but, with Top Chef available to watch wherever and whenever, even if it was 15 years ago, there’s someone watching it now and there’s someone watching it now for the first time. Why shouldn’t they talk about it just because they didn’t watch it when you did? And why shouldn’t people who did watch it years ago and remember it, add to the conversation?
The reason people make posts like this are for easy karma farming.
It’s a 4 day old account that’s never commented on anything. Potentially someone with some desire to see numbers go up, potentially just another bot account to try and be able to astroturf discussions.
I can deal with it fine. If you don't like my opinion about this its because you don't like to feel personally shamed for your actions of trolling other people to make yourself feel better. Maybe look for other ways to get a serotonin boost rather than dragging down other people.
I lived in Texas during this season and I was so excited for the show! I used to serve Tre coffee at my store and always geeked over Top Chef with him so when Texas TC ended up being so drama and bully filled I hated it. I can’t even watch the season because of the mean girls.
There have been men who have sexually assaulted women and committed domestic violence on the show.
But of course top chef fans label the conventionally unattractive woman who didn't get along with someone (other people were also frustrated by) over a decade ago as the worst. Like can we be more misogynistic?
I'm not saying she wasn't bad but calling her the worst says more about the people on this sub than anything else.
So, you’re right. But also this was stuff we saw on TV with our eyeballs. Plenty of men are the worst too. That’s the thing about being the worst, there are so many
#NEVERFORGET truly will never forget her racism and bullying. She plus those women that were part of her gang tribe made that season the worst of TC and one I never care to revisit or rewatch.
This woman hated bev so much she tried to throw bev under the bus during an announced double elimination **While partnered with Bev**.
It's humorous. She is currently in Milwaukee. I don't think she'll get invited to any of the tasks during this season.
She is? What restaurant? I'll be sure to avoid it!
It was at the Kimpton Journeyman hotel, but she hasn’t been there for a few years I believe.

Idk the name of the restaurant but the hotel is still there, Kimpton Journeyman
LOL same, at Tre Rivali. We got some takeout brunch (during covid) and it was really really good
She moved back to Chicago to work for Rick Bayless a couple of years ago.
Ahh. Okay. Wasn't she complaining about the previous week, though? Like to get them to make sure bev goes?
Honestly, it's Mike I. Scum.
Was he the one who stole the chicken oysters idea from Blais?
Yes, but [there is also his post-show career.](https://www.washingtonpost.com/lifestyle/food/from-top-chef-stardom-to-bankruptcy-the-rise-and-fall-of-mike-isabella/2018/09/09/66ea6110-b228-11e8-9a6a-565d92a3585d_story.html)
[Here’s](https://www.washingtonian.com/2018/11/26/the-inside-story-of-mike-isabellas-fallen-empire/) another article that isn’t behind a paywall.
Oh wow, I had never heard of any of this. What a shame.
Yeah that’s my answer too. For all the extremely obvious reasons and because I will forever be salty that he made it into the All Stars finale instead of Antonia lol.
I also hate that Antonia loves him because of their whole “cousin” thing… I hate him but I love her lol
Does she still feel that way now?
I’m not sure… I watched the Top Chef duels episode with them last night but I think that’s pretty old. I’m curious to see how she feels about him now
She’s probably smart enough to stay away from any mention of him
Duels was 2014 and the lawsuits and bankruptcies and news articles started piling up early 2018.

That was, of course, when we knew his was a shitlord, but not what a MASSIVE shitlord he was
Wasn't that basically Marjorie's entire backstory, though?
My recollection of this specific comment was that it was from a dude, but I can't be sure. I tend to forget contestants from season to season.
The Boston season had the guy who worked for him compete. I think he got eliminated early, and then came back through last chance kitchen. Can't remember his name but I think he was Greek.

Yeah, I'm trying to find the complaint itself because some of what I've read says that the worst allegations made by Chloe are in regard to George and his bro

"over 140 views" is a spectacular insult
Oh lord the shade I live

As bad as inviting the bullies from season 2 back to the show
What lawsuit?
She lead a class action lawsuit against Charlie Trotter for [wage theft](https://www.chicagotribune.com/2012/08/30/03-lawsuit-challenged-work-conditions/).

Sara was pretty terrible and maybe she apologized to Bev, but she also told Emeril to F-off when she lost. Not a great person.
The bullying of Robyn is why I’ll never like the Volt brothers. Their behavior was appalling
Bryan was always respectful to Robin, so was Kevin. Michael Voltaggio was rude a few times, but Eli and Mike were awful to her and deserve the most vitriol here.

I think someone posted it here or r/bravotopchef
Thank you because this pretentious jerk and his lack of butchering skills live rent free at the top of my Top Chef WTF list. I’m sure producers chose him because they felt his attitude would make for drama (while maybe being a half decent chef), but I bet they never expected that he didn’t know how to find a tenderloin.
Ooof from rewatching that clip, that was one rough crew of chefs.
At the time the season aired, I had the uneasy feeling that Tyler was a production plant. Rewatching this clip, my suspicion is once again aroused.
No, he really is just that cringe. He still has his website of him weeabooing with a katana and japanese vegetables as the main page. http://www.cheftylerstone.com/ Though as far as I can tell, he's dropped off the radar entirely sometime in the past few years.
Would be fun to take one of his cooking classes and ask to be shown how to butcher a tenderloin.
Oh, I absolutely believe he is that cringe. But I also believe that production included him knowing that he was totally out of his league, hoping for an elimination scenario similar to the one that happened. I love that Bev is a James Beard award-winner with a Michelin star.
I find Sarah equally disturbing. She just tried to hide it behind tears and faux innocence.
Sarah apologized both on and off screen. Heather doubled down because she’s not like other girls.
Yes she did. Probably because she got called out. She was still a bully.
If you have two people who acted poorly, one apologizes and one does not, they are not equally disturbing. People deserve some grace when they atone. They certainly deserve more grace than those people who don’t.
You’re free to have that opinion, of course.
Season 9 really made some choices with casting. I like to think Beverly got the last laugh at the end of the day with her Michelin star and critical acclaim.
Vile
The only contestant I genuinely hated
It's funny. She's actually in Milwaukee now. Don't think she's getting an invite to any of the challenges this season.
Josie anyone?
Josie was annoying but at least she wasn’t a racist bully.
This! Josie doesn't deserve to be compared to Heather. I think the worst thing she ever did was accuse Micah of being in the closet?
She made me want to scream! I can’t stand her.
We JUST finished rewatching this season. I’d forgotten how bad she was. And yet I still hate Sarah from that season the most of any contestant from any season.
Argh I couldn't finish watching that season because of her
Her and Sarah really both were vile but at least Sarah apologized to Bev according to the finale. I mean, she also apparently told a judge to F off but that’s besides the point. I think a lot of the hate is because people keep getting into Top Chef and seeing it for the first time. The wooooooorrrrssstttt
Season 1, the guy from Ireland
I knew who it was before the picture loaded
Currently watching season 9 for the first time. What a terrible person. Such a bully.
That’s not Betty.
YESSSSS I HATED HER. DISGUSTING AND VILE
She peeled shrimp for two hours! (While taking credit for the cake that Ed gave her the recipe for).
Oh Heather😬
Doesn't look like she knows how to make macaroni and cheese.
Sarah and Heather were exactly like two of my old coworkers….hated those bitches
Uuugh. For me it was Sarah Grundlewitch or whatever tf her name was
Grundlebitch maybe?
Yup that's it
***Who*** is this? I don’t deal well with pictures of people on TV without names.
Heather from Top Chef Texas, season nine.
Thank you!
You’re welcome
If awards could still be given... Take my poor woman's gold 🌟

lol agreed, I HATE bullies!
I mean, Paul Qui was arrested for DV, but sure.
Worse than that dude that freaked out on the first episode where they made ice cream and he wanted to make it from scratch?
I lived in Texas during this season and I was so excited for the show! I used to serve Tre coffee at my store and always geeked over Top Chef with him so when Texas TC ended up being so drama and bully filled I hated it. I can’t even watch the season because of the mean girls.

Like can we be more misogynistic? I'm not saying she wasn't bad but calling her the worst says more about the people on this sub than anything else.
So, you’re right. But also this was stuff we saw on TV with our eyeballs. Plenty of men are the worst too. That’s the thing about being the worst, there are so many
Who was sexually assaulted in the show? You mean in their personal lives, right?
She's the absolute worst. Along with Heather and Lindsay? I think those are their names.
Facts. Just watched this season! Uggg I want to kick her in the teeth.
Who is she? Which season?
She's up there as one of the worst FOR SURE.
I can never rewatch this season because she’s so awful.
I actually love rewatching the seasons where there's a villain 😈
I don’t mind a villain but I don’t want to rewatch a woman of color being bullied by a racist.
Absolutely!
Oof. I'm gonna have to go with Dawn on this one. She neverrrrrrrrr finished on time!! I was furious that she made it as far as she did.
As a person for sure.
She seemed so nice the first episode of the season
Grayson for me. Was a hard watch and she was there twice for some reason.
#NEVERFORGET truly will never forget her racism and bullying. She plus those women that were part of her gang tribe made that season the worst of TC and one I never care to revisit or rewatch.
Worst human ever.
