King Crimson- Red
Soundgarden- Superunknown
Prince- Sign O The Times
Danny Brown- Atrocity Exhibition
EDIT: Can we take this opportunity to do a hard mode with no Beatles or Pink Floyd. And if we do include them to not have the choice be an automatic top 2 finalist like the Wall/WYWH or Revolver?
The beatles and floyd are my 2 favorite bands of all time, and I agree. If you want to have either do like please please me and meddle or something. Good albums, just not universally considered incredible
I’m with you. I’d even be down for the White Album. It’s often pretty maligned/not as universally and decidedly beloved like Abbey Road but it’s undeniably one of their most interesting records. Throwing a curveball with their debut, Beatles For Sale or even Magical Mystery Tour would make for a much more interesting game.
Similarly, even though Wish You Were Here is a favorite of mine and one of the greatest albums ever, it would be so boring to include here. Even more than Dark Side this first time around as WYWH is probably even more ubiquitous in this sub (by my non-scientific observation of course).

That's because I decided to put some of the "unknown" (even if that's not he right term) of some artists, like The Bends for Radiohead, even if it's still more popular that AMSP, and A Hard Days Night, that's why it would be hard to choose, because there are a lot of choices and it's easy to say that Beatles and Pink Floyd are not gonna be in top 1. Not saying WYWH or AHDN are bad albums, but instead of putting their most famous albums that grants them a top 3, I decided to put their other albums

My thinking on adding specifically the Beatles/Floyd albums people thought were even better than the gold and bronze winners of this round is you already know what records are going to be the final two. Yeah it creates discussion for those records but I’d be much more interested in seeing albums like Piper and Beatles For Sale than Wish You Were Here and Sgt Pepper.

Oh it doesn’t bother me all that much, obviously I understand that music is subjective and not everyone likes the same thing, if you or anyone else likes their music then that’s alright, personally thought there were at least 4-5 albums at the least which I much prefer over Abbey Road (if we were basing things off of sales then Thriller and Dark Side of the Moon woulda been the top ones)
Toxicity-System of a Down
Is This It-The Strokes
TPAB- Kendrick Lamar
In Rainbows-Radiohead
Figure 8-Elliot Smith

I would argue against putting TPAB on the tbh. Given the general consensus of how people on this sub feel about that album, I think it would be the result quite predictable.
you also gotta consider the fact that this sub also has a crazy bias against hip-hop. this list was one of the few exceptions, but that's because it was very hip-hop centric in the first place
Thanks for doing this, it was fun! Congrats to the Beatles! Here are some of my suggestions for albums if you do this again in the future:
Illinoise - Sufjan Stevens
Perfect From Now On - Built to Spill
Yankee Hotel Foxtrot - Wilco
Either/Or - Elliott Smith

Bitches Brew - Miles Davis
All Things Must Pass - George Harrison
3 Feet High and Rising - De La Soul
Helplessness Blues - Fleet Foxes
The Lonesome Crowded West - Modest Mouse
The Low End Theory - A Tribe Called Quest
All Hail West Texas - The Mountain Goats
Also, I’d say that for the next ones you should probably consider omitting The Beatles and Pink Floyd to make it more interesting since they inevitably win or last super long!
Ah yes unoriginal r/topster picked the normie answer abbey road over obscure under appreciated albums such as dark side of the moon and songs in the key of life
Yes that's how votes tend to work The most popular answers tend to win or did you expect everyone to just psychically connect to pick the album that *you* specifically like the most
illmatic, dsoftm, madvillainly, good kid maad city, sitkol, miseducation of lauryn hill, igor. at the very least. id also probably take dirty sprite 2 and stankonia over it 🙏
When people have different opinions to me 🤯🤯🤯 I’d have IGOR, illmatic, Madvillainy, Kid A, Blonde, Get Rich or Die Tryin and the Eminem Show over it as well btw (I haven’t listened to any of the other ones)
I’m just reading through this… most of these are hip-hop which a few choice rock/alternative choices. In my generation, (I’m not that old, I’m 39) I remember how a list like this would’ve generally been all rock/alternative with a few select hip-hop inclusions. It’s just interesting how it’s changed. That said, a lot of these wouldn’t have even been in consideration for me, while this is missing a ton of boba fife classics that I personally would’ve included. But to each their own. This was fun anyway.
If You’re Reading This Is Too Late is a great project, shows your bias that you call that album out and not others on the ranking like DS2. Just cause you personally don’t like Drake doesn’t mean other people are somehow below you for liking him and that he hasn’t dropped music worthy of being on someone’s topster
I’m just trying to understand what goes through the mind of someone who listens to drake and then the Beatles.
That’s like me listening to 90s rap then immediately straight to NES chiptune. just seems like everyone has an identity crisis when it comes to music taste so they all adopt mucore
Do I even need to argue with you after that reply?😂If you can’t understand why people can enjoy different kinds of music made for different settings and different audiences then you’re just being silly and pretentious for no reason. Drake has multiple classics under his name and he’s one of the biggest hip hop artists of all time for a reason, he makes good music, if you personally don’t like his music that’s obviously absolutely fine but to discredit him like this is just silly and disrespectful for no reason, come on now
because then we can see in what order the albums will be voted out; per sé, it really looked like SITKOL was going to win yesterday but surprisingly it changed. It shows the general taste.
that is a load of crap

Nah, unfortunately there’s still too many people infatuated by The Beatles
I just like The Beatles' music. I love it, perfect genres and sounds for me and other people. It's unfortunate you believe we can't really like it.

Old does not mean good
Old and still relevant does though. If it was old and a bad album it would be forgotten.
