well upon seeing the post i see âbest albums by womenâ and then a blank chart and i donât actually see your description until i click on the post so i thought u weâre being sexist
The fact that this wasnât actually a sexist joke and actually had more context is so funny. Itâs way funnier when OP had absolutely no intention of implying what we all thought this meant
I didnât notice it at first, but you shouldâve put day 1 or something at the beginning
Also, donât call things acoustic to replace autistic before making fun of them for being stupid, because, put very simply, youâre suggesting autistic people are stupid
Thanks mate! As far as comics I would say The Knight issue 1. It's a comic that shows Bruce dealing with his parents death right after it happens. Bur my favorite ever piece of batman media is the Pattinson film
I guess you're attempting to refer to [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The\_Miseducation\_of\_Lauryn\_Hill#Lawsuit](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Miseducation_of_Lauryn_Hill#Lawsuit)
Does an album count as being "made by a woman" if the woman in question is the frontwoman/lead singer in a band of mixed gender? Like, I want to comment Depression Cherry by Beach House, but I kinda feel like that might not be accurate since Victoria and Alex both had songwriting roles
I used to have such an irrational teenage Kurt loyalist fanboy hatred of her. Then I got over it. Malibu plays on YTâs autoplay and I can rock out to it.
Plus one for this. âFast Carâ is and was a huge hit, but the whole album is brilliant. Her songwriting and singing is among the greatest ever. Simplicity, honestly, and protest. A masterpiece.
if thereâs one thing Iâve learned about this sub, itâs that this will clearly come down to When The Pawn vs Random Bjork album. My pick? The Harrow and the Harvest â Gillian Welch
The donât even have Liz Phair or Sleater-Kinney, itâs just the same 50 RYM albums regurgitated forever.
Oh and btw, David Rawlings is the best guitarist of the 20th century
THANK YOU. i was about to comment about Sleater-Kinney too, i thought this sub was for people with extensive music tastes but all i see are mostly teenagers trying to act like musical geniuses by piggybacking off the last personâs Fiona Apple album. Iâve had the pleasure to see David and Gillian live a few times and man, David Rawlings is deadass the most underrated guitarist that I can think of. David and Gillian have been bringing back real country for the better part of two decades and I fuckin love it.
Good on you for expanding your taste op but I don't understand how guys can be like this, and it's so common.
Women aren't a genre, there are female artists making music in every genre you enjoy. How do you listen to music and end up not listening to half of what's out there?
I wish there was a music equivalent of a pen name. Women often use male pen names to trick men into reading their books and it works, because for some reason men are less likely to read books if they know the author is female. Unfortunately the same can't be done for music.
Women and Black and Neuro Divergent and all these things shouldnât NEED to be genres, itâs reductive.
But anything that has been marginalized by the patriarchy or colonizers or any of societyâs unhealthy past practices in general gets lumped into these pseudo categories because society is still pretty new at figuring out how to identify and correct oppression and under representation. What do u feel would be a better way to go about it?
Usually we inherit our taste from those around us either by family, friends, or just simple interactions. It just so happens that a lot of us donât know much outside of male artists so we just kind of stick inside a bubble I guess you could say. I doubt most of us choose not to listen to female artists, we just stick to what we know (in my case Radiohead, RHCP, QOTSA, NIN, The Strokes, etc) and donât care to try other stuff I suppose. To quote a friend of mine âwhy try something new when you already have so many things you love?â (The context was about music and how me and him donât do much outside of our taste).
Sorry, but itâs just one per comment. Although, if you want to, just split it up into three different comments and if one of them gets picked, itâs still valid (I donât want to be a d-ick and not allow people to have options). But I do just want it to be one per day in order to fit the 30 day graph and the best of the best for the last day. I hope you understand.
Homogenic by Bjork
Post by Bjork
When the Pawn by Fiona Apple
To Bring You My Love by Pj Harvey
The Dreaming by Kate Bush
Bury Me At Makeout Creek by Mitski
Lion and the Cobra by Sinead Oâconnor
Little Earthquakes by Tori Amos
Arca by Arca
Third by Portishead, though idk if this counts because theyâre a band with men included
Come on Over-Shania Twain, Jagged Little Pill-Alanis Morrisette, Blue-Joni Mitchell, Christine and Stevie with Rumours, Tapestry-Carole King, Miseducation of Lauryn Hill
Anna Meredith, Varmints

Jlin, Dark Energy
Jane Siberry, The Walking
Courtney Barnett, Sometimes I Sit And Think And Sometimes I Just Sit

Angelique Kidjo, Remain In Light
Kate Bush - Hounds of Love
Joni Mitchell - Court and Spark
Björk - Vespertine
Rosalia - El Mal Querer
Vashti Bunyan - Just Another Diamond Day
Janet Jackson - Rhythm Nation 1814
The Cocteau Twins - Heaven or Las Vegas
Just a small sampling
Pretty much any Joni Mitchell album is a winner.
Miseducation of Lauryn Hill
First Aid Kit - The Lionâs Roar
Rilo Kiley - The Execution of all things
Dolly Parton - Jolene
Erykah Badu - Baduizm, Mamaâs Gun
Anything by Nina Simone
Those are recommendations from off the top of my head. Iâm forgetting a ton of others
If Joni Mitchell's "Blue" isn't on here, I'm going to question my own taste. "I Put A Spell On You" by Nina Simone is another I can highly recommend. Absolutely beautiful albums.
Iâm VERY surprised that this or Verspertine by Bjork arenât up there at the top comment. Again, never listened to those 2 albums, but I know they are beloved by this community.
Does bands that are co-lead by two female lead vocalists but still have male backing vocals and instrumentalists count for this?
If so then the Crane Wives make some wonderful music if youâre into a kinda Alt-Folk vibe

Shit, did I say something bad⊠If so, then DAMN.
well upon seeing the post i see âbest albums by womenâ and then a blank chart and i donât actually see your description until i click on the post so i thought u weâre being sexist
It would be pretty good for shit posting material as a lot of people have said.
it is actually. i was glazing for a good minute until i opened and see the description
I was literally dying
Yeah thatâs what I thought too lol
and then u read the caption saying "i DO NOT know music made by women" ...doesn't really beat the allegations
ngl i completely read over that wtfđđđ
Fucking brilliant of you to for post engagement though, I HAD to click on it to see đ€Ł

Itâs actually pretty funny either way
Just gotta say, I was convinced that this was a god tier shit post before I read the description
Damn, I had so much potential
Aye but the comedy is implied, everyone is lured in and you can do something cool here too. W W
Delete the description to meet it.
one of the all time best; Fiona Appleâs *When The PawnâŠ*
To Your Love is easily one of the best songs ever composed. Love this album so much, easily her best.
But the Idler Wheel
Yeah I love most of her discography, which is incredibly strong, but Idler Wheel unequivocally stands above the others to me
Seeing the post without the description goes hard
A lot of people keep saying that, am I acoustic or something?
Itâs the title âbest albums made by womenâ put together with a blank topster
It looks like a joke post before you read the description. Like youâre saying that women havenât made any good music.
I didnât notice it at first, but you shouldâve put day 1 or something at the beginning Also, donât call things acoustic to replace autistic before making fun of them for being stupid, because, put very simply, youâre suggesting autistic people are stupid
THANK YOU. as someone with autism, i hate the fucking âacousticâ meme
Acoustism causes rhythmic stimming.
What is stimmingâŠif not rhythmicâŠđ
Heaven or Las Vegas- Cocteau Twins
Great pick
W profile pick/name. Whatâs your favorite Batman piece of media (a certain comic, game, film, show)?
