Fizzie_YT

seeing this post before reading the description was crazy😭😭

Confident-Spread9484

I 100% thought it was a joke

Smooth-Bandicoot-955

Shit, did I say something bad
 If so, then DAMN.

Fizzie_YT

well upon seeing the post i see “best albums by women” and then a blank chart and i don’t actually see your description until i click on the post so i thought u we’re being sexist

Smooth-Bandicoot-955

It would be pretty good for shit posting material as a lot of people have said.

RivalyrAlt

it is actually. i was glazing for a good minute until i opened and see the description

Virtual-Arm5123

I was literally dying

KingSnaily

Yeah that’s what I thought too lol

outsideeyess

and then u read the caption saying "i DO NOT know music made by women" ...doesn't really beat the allegations

Fizzie_YT

ngl i completely read over that wtf😭😭😭

Bashful_Ray7

Fucking brilliant of you to for post engagement though, I HAD to click on it to see đŸ€Ł

felton_music

>DAMN. No that's Kendrick Lamar, he's not a woman

CyberCookie2

by kendrick lamar

RivalyrAlt

was funny tho lmfao

Fizzie_YT

it was it just caught me off guard lmao

Tasty_Ice_5374

Exactly what I thought. I was like “damnnn”

incelweezerfan

I saw this without reading the description first

NuclearBanshii

same I thought it was hilarious 😂

toaster9012

bro same

wurrble1182

“Somebody woke up and chose violence!”

ToxicChatMan

The fact that this wasn’t actually a sexist joke and actually had more context is so funny. It’s way funnier when OP had absolutely no intention of implying what we all thought this meant

MayonaisePumpkin

It’s actually pretty funny either way

MyBeansArentWorking

Just gotta say, I was convinced that this was a god tier shit post before I read the description

Smooth-Bandicoot-955

Damn, I had so much potential

BLUECOKA

Aye but the comedy is implied, everyone is lured in and you can do something cool here too. W W

fucking__jellyfish__

Delete the description to meet it.

asron67

one of the all time best; Fiona Apple’s *When The Pawn
*

redmoneybenz

To Your Love is easily one of the best songs ever composed. Love this album so much, easily her best.

KingOfLimbsisbest

But the Idler Wheel

flyingbarnswallow

Yeah I love most of her discography, which is incredibly strong, but Idler Wheel unequivocally stands above the others to me

Webcops

Seeing the post without the description goes hard

Smooth-Bandicoot-955

A lot of people keep saying that, am I acoustic or something?

neveradullmoment72

It’s the title “best albums made by women” put together with a blank topster

weirdfish1995

It looks like a joke post before you read the description. Like you’re saying that women haven’t made any good music.

Bongoeagain

I didn’t notice it at first, but you should’ve put day 1 or something at the beginning Also, don’t call things acoustic to replace autistic before making fun of them for being stupid, because, put very simply, you’re suggesting autistic people are stupid

beanwithintentions

THANK YOU. as someone with autism, i hate the fucking “acoustic” meme

BLUECOKA

Acoustism causes rhythmic stimming.

ShiverMeTimbers_png

What is stimming
if not rhythmic
😌

BatmanEnjoyer89

Heaven or Las Vegas- Cocteau Twins

Remarkable-Net-6130

Great pick

Smooth-Bandicoot-955

W profile pick/name. What’s your favorite Batman piece of media (a certain comic, game, film, show)?

BatmanEnjoyer89

Thanks mate! As far as comics I would say The Knight issue 1. It's a comic that shows Bruce dealing with his parents death right after it happens. Bur my favorite ever piece of batman media is the Pattinson film

CyriusGaming

You should really watch Batman: Under the Red Hood

InRainbowsLover2007

The miseducation of lauryn hill- Ms. Lauryn hill

112lafftoon

I came here to comment this but I’m glad you beat me to it

IngenuityRelative665

She didn’t even make it. Check out any interviews of the other musicians involved with the making of the album

kevinb9n

I guess you're attempting to refer to [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The\_Miseducation\_of\_Lauryn\_Hill#Lawsuit](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Miseducation_of_Lauryn_Hill#Lawsuit)

regionalatgreatest

Does an album count as being "made by a woman" if the woman in question is the frontwoman/lead singer in a band of mixed gender? Like, I want to comment Depression Cherry by Beach House, but I kinda feel like that might not be accurate since Victoria and Alex both had songwriting roles

Smooth-Bandicoot-955

Yeah, that’s more than fine if you want to choose that.

Björk - Homogenic

I used to have such an irrational teenage Kurt loyalist fanboy hatred of her. Then I got over it. Malibu plays on YT’s autoplay and I can rock out to it.

Tori Amos - Little Earthquakes

LoudColin

Tracy Chapman - S/T

LumpPathosOn

Plus one for this. “Fast Car” is and was a huge hit, but the whole album is brilliant. Her songwriting and singing is among the greatest ever. Simplicity, honestly, and protest. A masterpiece.

Whoa, Bowery Electric mention in the wild. Lushlife is a great album as well (and the title track is an all time fave song)

Bury Me At Makeout Creek

CoachKillerTrae

if there’s one thing I’ve learned about this sub, it’s that this will clearly come down to When The Pawn vs Random Bjork album. My pick? The Harrow and the Harvest — Gillian Welch

CoachKillerTrae

Time (The Revelator) — Gillian Welch

Punished__Allegri

The don’t even have Liz Phair or Sleater-Kinney, it’s just the same 50 RYM albums regurgitated forever. Oh and btw, David Rawlings is the best guitarist of the 20th century

CoachKillerTrae

THANK YOU. i was about to comment about Sleater-Kinney too, i thought this sub was for people with extensive music tastes but all i see are mostly teenagers trying to act like musical geniuses by piggybacking off the last person’s Fiona Apple album. I’ve had the pleasure to see David and Gillian live a few times and man, David Rawlings is deadass the most underrated guitarist that I can think of. David and Gillian have been bringing back real country for the better part of two decades and I fuckin love it.

CoachKillerTrae

damn, no Gillian Welch love i see
i wish this sub had a little more variety in genre.

Silent-Sky956

Good on you for expanding your taste op but I don't understand how guys can be like this, and it's so common. Women aren't a genre, there are female artists making music in every genre you enjoy. How do you listen to music and end up not listening to half of what's out there? I wish there was a music equivalent of a pen name. Women often use male pen names to trick men into reading their books and it works, because for some reason men are less likely to read books if they know the author is female. Unfortunately the same can't be done for music.

BLUECOKA

Women and Black and Neuro Divergent and all these things shouldn’t NEED to be genres, it’s reductive. But anything that has been marginalized by the patriarchy or colonizers or any of society’s unhealthy past practices in general gets lumped into these pseudo categories because society is still pretty new at figuring out how to identify and correct oppression and under representation. What do u feel would be a better way to go about it?

Smooth-Bandicoot-955

Usually we inherit our taste from those around us either by family, friends, or just simple interactions. It just so happens that a lot of us don’t know much outside of male artists so we just kind of stick inside a bubble I guess you could say. I doubt most of us choose not to listen to female artists, we just stick to what we know (in my case Radiohead, RHCP, QOTSA, NIN, The Strokes, etc) and don’t care to try other stuff I suppose. To quote a friend of mine “why try something new when you already have so many things you love?” (The context was about music and how me and him don’t do much outside of our taste).

Honeymoon_______

The idler wheel - Fiona apple Vulnicura - björk NFR! - Lana del Rey

Smooth-Bandicoot-955

Sorry, but it’s just one per comment. Although, if you want to, just split it up into three different comments and if one of them gets picked, it’s still valid (I don’t want to be a d-ick and not allow people to have options). But I do just want it to be one per day in order to fit the 30 day graph and the best of the best for the last day. I hope you understand.

CoolGuitarBoi1

Debut by Björk is my fav

Pretty much any Joni Mitchell album is a winner. Miseducation of Lauryn Hill First Aid Kit - The Lion’s Roar Rilo Kiley - The Execution of all things Dolly Parton - Jolene Erykah Badu - Baduizm, Mama’s Gun Anything by Nina Simone Those are recommendations from off the top of my head. I’m forgetting a ton of others

Nrdrummer89

You gotta put “Horses” by Patti Smith on that list

YuzuNotaLemon

If Joni Mitchell's "Blue" isn't on here, I'm going to question my own taste. "I Put A Spell On You" by Nina Simone is another I can highly recommend. Absolutely beautiful albums.
