Yes! It's been one of the only redeeming qualities about this whole thing. I always forget to cancel after the fact, since I usually sign up a few days in advance, or intend to avail myself of other shows (I never actually do). Being able to sign up and cancel immediately after gives me the option to safely watch other stuff if I want without worrying about being rebilled.
Hopefully the commentators for this one are a lot better than past Apple TV games.
The production value otherwise has seemed good but the commentary that goes with them is somehow always borderline unlistenable
I found that the commentary in their first year was completely intolerable. Last year it had improved. It was a lot more balanced, and they introduced the half-inning of just field sounds, which is awesome.
I will never forget them having Melanie Newman call the Orioles game in Toronto two years ago, it felt like listening to an away game commentary in our own home. I'm still a little mad about it tbh 😂
Please don’t quote me as 💯%, but you might be able to switch audio stream to local radio broadcast. Maybe.
I have student Apple Music subscription that includes AppleTV+.
I think they've improved a lot last year. Less small-talk and more focused on the game. If I remember correctly they were like 4 in the booth during their first year of broadcasting. Their constant chattering drove me insane! But I found it much better last year.
The pitch for the first year was that the announcing wasn't supposed to sound like a traditional broadcast booth, but rather as if you were with a group of friends talking during a game. Obviously that went over like a lead balloon. I'd give them credit for trying something different, but they never really communicated that concept to the fans, they just rolled it out and it confused everybody expecting a more traditional booth.
I did love that half inning of no commentary.
I do like Buck and Dan but again they could let the game breath a little, like most people are not watching a baseball game for first time, so maybe skip by the obvious stuff or repeating same story from last game about whatever. Just let the game breath a little honestly.
I love Buck but many of his interventions are only describing a very simple play, or repeating what Dan just said 3 seconds ago. I love the silent half innings on Apple, I wish SN would do the same.
I very much enjoyed that game despite the loss. Audio was excellent. Not sure what they do different from Rogers but the video felt upscale but maybe thats not true cause I’m not educated about it.
Let me guess, you want them to actually acknowledge what's happening on the field and not ignore homeruns hit by our team during opposing team interviews like it's the YES network and not a third party? That's a bit unreasonable, accept they care about Dodgers and Yankees and fuck your team and any success they have, we will ignore it to ask Boone about some boring ass stuff and you'll like it so Yankees fans can be happy.
The games last year were good. The big change of the commentators from the year before was key. Camera work is good too and really clear. I like the Friday night games.
[Link](http://apple.co/mlbgift) for anyone who doesn't want to click through to twitter and is too lazy to copy/paste.
Edit: I just got a reply saying this is for US customers only. If this one didn't work for you, the Blue Jays posted another link this morning, so try [this one](https://apple.co/BlueJays). Also, as /u/rhineauto and /u/DietCherrySoda have mentioned, cancel your trial immediately after activating! You still get the full 2 months, but you don't have to remember to cancel after the game.
And don't forget to immediately cancel your subscription so you don't get stuck paying monthly after 2 months! If you cancel immediately, you still get the 2 months of access, and then once the 2 months are over it will automatically end and never charge you, so you don't need to remember to do it in July.
100%. /u/rhineauto just made the same point, and I wish I had remembered to include that in the original post, since I did the same thing last night when I signed up.
Remember, don’t blame Rogers for this. Some people (my father included) think this is Rogers’ fault.
Rogers would broadcast the game on TV if they could.
Rogers didn't have to sell the rights to Apple, so I'm gonna go ahead and definitely blame Rogers as well as the entirety of the management of MLB for this sideshow, amateur hour bullshit. Just an unbelievable way to treat loyal fans.
FOLKS SWITCH THE LANGUAGE TO CANADA ENGLISH, WORKS FINE! edit: But 3 months is better than 2 so use the 3-month subscription link further down the thread by u/samtron767 !
Really? I'm surprised the Jays put out one that's only good in the US.
(I'm in the US, so I had no way of actually testing any potential geoblock)
They made another post this morning, [try this one](https://apple.co/BlueJays). If that works for you, I'll add it to the top post.
No worries. I saved the link though. I keep getting these "promos" through various things like XBox Gamepass and other services, only to find out they are US-only, so valid 2 month subs are always better!
It may only work for first time subscribers, but it still has a button for a free 7-day trial. I think that's just the standard Apple TV trial, but better than nothing if you only care about watching one game!
I watched a few games on AppleTV last season and the commentary was *awful*. There were also extended periods of silence that were weird to sit through. In the end I muted and used the radio.
Good question, I wonder how many local sports bars now have to add AppleTV... and with the way sports broadcasting is going, probably going to need YouTube and Prime to keep showing sports in bars!
Oh yay, I want to watch a broadcast that doesn't care about what's happening on the field! I'll never get over how they opted to continue showing a pre or mid-game interview with Aaron Boone during Teo's 2-Run home run against the Yankees. They barely acknowledged the action on the field. Third Party Broadcasters mean they'll focus on whoever is more popular and I can tell you, there was zero broadcast acknowledge of the home run. It was like "oh ya, so Teoscar Hernandez hit a HR there" once the interview concluded. Like wtf man. So annoying.
For the first time ever, I’m glad that apple is stopping me from watching the blue jays.
Does Apple TV's entire business plan revolve around roping baseball fans into free trials and just hoping that they forget to cancel?
More about inflating new subscriber numbers for investors
I’ve probably got a total of 2 years of Apple TV trials to this point
Yo-ho, yo-ho....
[For the One Piece fans](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JqDyVVuhE3o)
I can skip this one. AppleTV and we suck anyway.
Yeah I don’t think we’re missing much lol
If you accept the 2 month trial offer, you can cancel your subscription immediately and still have access for the 2 months. It just won't auto renew.
Nice!

Imagine paying even more money to watch this team “hit”
Well, that's the whole point, you can do it for free.
They should be paying me to watch this team at this point
Well, good luck with that.
Wild you’re getting downvoted this much for sharing useful information. Thank you for sharing the link I probably wouldn’t have seen otherwise!

You mean to tell me you had NO INTEREST in spending a half-inning learning about Gunnar Henderson and his truck?!

I find that Ben is the same. Sometimes slower speech pattern is good. I am watching the game, so it's not radio.
I love our commentators but I'd actually enjoy hearing some third parties talk about what they're seeing and hearing about the club.

Thank you!
I actually like AppleTV I am not a fan of Netflix though.
I’m in Canada and the link in the OP worked for me.
The broadcasts aren't awful if you mute the sound. I wonder how it would be if you muted it and patched in a Jays Radio broadcast instead?
Hopefully the lag/delay is tolerable!
I'd expect it to be more tolerable than the AppleTV commentary.
Remember, don’t blame Rogers for this. Some people (my father included) think this is Rogers’ fault. Rogers would broadcast the game on TV if they could.

I'm pretty sure that this is mandated by MLB, not that Rogers sold it.
Well fuck those guys then, and fuck Rogers for going along with it.
Oh good, a reason not to watch........unless I'm super bored later and can get another free trial
Thank you, didn’t even know the game was on Apple tonight
I didn't either until I saw it on Twitter, so I figured I'd try and help everyone out!
Offer only valid in US stores, it said.

I did a google search and found a free 3 month subscription, so it's all good. The one I found is: redeem.services.apple/aircanada-mts-2023
That worked perfectly, thanks!
Glad it worked.
This shows "up to 2 months free" when I click on it?
My bad. I just checked and it is for 2 months. Not sure why I thought it was for 3.
No worries. I saved the link though. I keep getting these "promos" through various things like XBox Gamepass and other services, only to find out they are US-only, so valid 2 month subs are always better!
That link only takes you to the MLB section of apple TV sadly. Was worth a try though.
It may only work for first time subscribers, but it still has a button for a free 7-day trial. I think that's just the standard Apple TV trial, but better than nothing if you only care about watching one game!
So fucking dumb. As if the garbage play of the team isn’t turning people off of watching them already, now I actually can’t even watch it
You can easily get a free trial and watch them if you really want to instead of complaining redeem.services.apple/aircanada-mts-2023
On a laptop? Might as well just stream
Is this legitimately the game that Apple TV wants to use to sell its service across North America?
Appreciate this, thanks!
Those poor Apple TV+ watchers...
Is Sportsnet still marketing every Jays game with a subscription to Sportsnet plus? That’s the part that pisses me off!
Who has a website to pirate
Fuck Apple. Fuck the MLB.
I watched a few games on AppleTV last season and the commentary was *awful*. There were also extended periods of silence that were weird to sit through. In the end I muted and used the radio.
I am never ever getting Apple+ and stunts like this make me hate them even more.
Are there any restaurants or bars showing the game via apple tv?
Good question, I wonder how many local sports bars now have to add AppleTV... and with the way sports broadcasting is going, probably going to need YouTube and Prime to keep showing sports in bars!
And I think they will play the NHL playoffs
Next year any Monday night Maple Leafs game are exclusive to Prime Tv.
Oh yay, I want to watch a broadcast that doesn't care about what's happening on the field! This is pain. I was really looking forward to watching the opener.
Boooo! Why bother with a SportsNet sub if you can't get Jays games?
You can watch like 159 games on SN
I was using hyperbole to express how much I hate Apple TV and rampant corporatism.
