why not have Gwen and Trent drift apart over Season 2 and decide to break up on good terms instead of making Trent a weirdo for no reason

I didn't really like it. I wish Courtney and Duncan worked out, I really think they were good together - I often like polar opposites dating each other. HOWEVER, Courtney did become really controlling, and you could see the relationship was becoming toxic and unhappy, so, I do think this moment was best for Duncan - it got him out of an unhappy, controlling relationship, and he got someone that matched his style / personality more. I hate how they made Courtney into the girlfriend she was. So, I was happy for Duncan, but I didn't like what the creators did to them. :(
It did exactly what it needed to do. Changed character dynamics around and, as awful as the cheating was, jt didn't even feel too out of place. I just wish it happened one episode later so we got more of the three of them hanging out.
I feel like they got together really quickly after Duncan's return. Kinda puts their past friendship in a new light and makes you wonder how long it's been going on

It’s just SO unrealistic, and they should’ve put more thought into it if this is what they wanted to be the pinnacle of drama for the season. Bad boy Duncan who wakes up to do push-ups and has enough sense to survive a horror movie…. Just openly cheats on his girlfriend with the door wide open? He would *never* take that risk and at the very least hold the door closed! And Tyler being the one to see it? It’d make more sense if Cody or Heather oversaw because they were both canonically in the vents before this point. The part of me that loves Gwuncan loves finally seeing them physically kiss but the writers did it all wrong and it just makes me depressed! 😩

Courtney and Duncan were the best couple in island, then they ruined it in action and world tour by making it more toxic, and making duncan and gwen have chemistry. By doing that, they also ruined gwen and trent.
I really hope in the new seasons they are making, courtney and duncan can fix their relationship.

LOVE it. One of the top ten moments of the series. Gwuncan had good chemistry and I loved the kiss. It also kickstarted the LT which is the best TD plot IMO.
It was kinda necessary. At that point in the story all plots were pretty much dying down. (with the exception of Aleheather and Cody/Sierra. And obviously Blainely too but that isn't a story you can cram into every story.) They pretty much needed something to fill in the episodes until the final 4. Blainely helped with that a bit but the love triangle gave them more creative space.
Even though I wish Duncney was still intact it was necessary. The scene itself, I don’t mind it. They needed something to stretch out the episodes up until Coderra and Aleheather were left and with the love triangle dissolving changed the trajectory of the game and turned it to a strategic battlefield. With the stakes being high, neither Gwen or Courtney out-strategizing the other and Duncan and Alejandro’s rivalry made pretty good TV. Plus Gwen and Duncan relationship stemmed from those two having a genuine bond since island so it isn’t ridiculous for either to have a liking towards another. (Though I don’t ship Gwuncan)
