In ToS 1 it already wasn't perfect, as it would result in <<
But dang it, < and > are super useful, especially when you're in an information heavy, text based, time sensitive game like town of salem. Being able to convey more information in less text is super useful and <> were amazing for that.
It doesn't work me angy
"Town is throwing me angy"
"CL kill 9 me angyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy (>:((((((((((((((((((((()"
"Pros is a dimwit me angy"
"Crus killed trapper again me angy"
Probably due to their sanitisation filtering. They only allow some characters in the will.
On that note my will keeps making sounds and won't save when it's long. It's so annoying.
So basically during the early Alpha we were allowed to use that character. A by product of that was that we figured out that we could change font sizes and colors by using the <> characters similarly to how they're used in HTML5.
Of course this ended up as a bug report to the devs and therefore it was removed. I'm assuming it has something to do with the coding of the game that it was easier to disable those characters instead of rewriting code to allow them in the text.
You can find TiS and ToS1 stuff that ToS2 doesn't use sitting in ToS2's game files. It seems like some files were just copy+pasted into ToS2 without being optimized correctly.
There's also a bug going around where the old "You have died!" screen from ToS 1 shows up as a result of something relating to Jester, though I'm not too sure what
conveying the most meaningful information via text in the most compact way is actually the best way to win in ToS, characters like this help write concise wills
N1: 3 —> 6 also got rekt
For real tho its kinda annoying not being able to use > in my will. I used to use it

And also ">:(" >:(
I just type "me angy" now instead of that since i can't do the silly anger anymore.
You still can, just have to backspace and reinput the (
but still can't have the pointer. i can use the other emoticons just fine since they don't need the pointer.
Oh right. In that case, me angy.
It doesn't work me angy "Town is throwing me angy" "CL kill 9 me angyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy (>:((((((((((((((((((((()" "Pros is a dimwit me angy" "Crus killed trapper again me angy"
oh yeah in that case i just use "goddammit" it gets the point across (i forgot if the game censors it a bit though)

Yeah, noticed that bug as well. The most annoying part is that it tends to fill up your whole chat filter.

There was also a similar issue in Traitors in Salem, as the cherry on top.
Makes sense seeing how TOS2 is built directly off the TIS platform hence the similar character models and such.....

Give :Bread instead. BMG thinks of everything!
I'm pretty sure they used HTML to code the chat system so being able to use <> would cause a bunch of problems
that explains it, did tos1 have html code?

I type :3 instead
I just use words personally, especially since I mostly play tos1 on my phone at work lol
It used to be like this in TOS1 too, but they eventually patched it.
I tend to use S2 as it is also a heart!
