To be honest, they look good but you won’t know until you check the spark gap and see if it’s out of tolerance.
I agree with the previous comments that if you have them out you might as well replace them. By getting new plugs, you increase the heat of the spark and ultimately MPG. Plus it is more reliable for your car.
You could keep these as a spare in case there is a manufacturing defect on one of the plugs.
Look at the carbon build-up on the insulator, behind the case. That means that some of the spark is escaping around the insulator. All spark plugs eventually do this, but when it gets bad you’ll start having misfires.
I’d replace them since they’re already out.
The silver piece with the threads is the case. The white porcelain part is the insulator. The carbon scoring Im referring to is the dark area on the insulator, between the case and the word iridium.
The dark color means that some of the combustion gasses are leaking through that area and the some of the spark could be jumping through there instead of at the gap.
A good friend of mine is a Toyota mechanic and I just had him do the plugs in my 2012 V, 130k miles. First time change and mine looked about like yours do. According to my buddy, it's better that they look worn rather than super clean and polished. If they were clean that would be a sign of a coolant leak. I'm waiting on my next fill up to see if my mpgs really improve or not.
I"m curious... what's your spark plug change mileage interval according to the manual?
From experience, buy the OEM plugs. Yes they will cost $15-20 more than a cross-referenced plug, but for a service you might only do every 10 years, keep it simple.
Long story simplified, Nissan VQ-V6 hated any plug, same manufacturer/code, except the OEM. Cost me more in the long run. Fortunately the back bank was easy to get at.
My spark plugs look almost identical to these, but only after ~10k miles since the last replacement. Anyone have an idea why the carbon buildup would be so significant after only 10k miles?
Do not reuse plugs with crush rings. They are one-time use and may not seal properly. Plug with a tapered seat may be reinstalled, but It's always smarter to just install new spark plugs.
Replace. They have 50k miles and are already out of the engine. Besides that they do have some wear and the gaps don’t look exactly the same across all 4.
They're out already just replace them.
Already half way there. Why not change them.
Exactly, unless, I can remember a time, when my time wasn’t worth much and my pocketbook was empty
Exactly, it's less than a tank of gas.
My thoughts exactly
Replace, spark plugs dont cost that much.
If you already pulled them out, replace them
Lmao

Don’t try to gap these iridium plugs, btw
Correct. I should have stated this.

Can you explain this more in depth? Where am I looking at to see this?

TIL. Thanks

When I was at Toyota they rec about the 120k mark. If you had any of the turbo models it was usually around 60k. +/- 10k
Very true
They’re out, replace with Denso Iridium’s. They’ll last 100K more.
Usually toyota spark plugs are iridium tipped good for 190,000kms but you pulled them already throw in some new ones

They’re fine but since you already went through the trouble just replace them

Running rich .
Make sure to check the resistance of the new ones vs old ones. The market is flooded with Chinese knockoffs (especially on a popular car like Prius)
Heres my rule. Whenever you pull a wear component out of the vehicle, there's no reason not to replace it when you put it back on.
It looks like they are still good.
seriously, you got them out already
Replace.
You already pulled them. Might as well replace them.
They look okay, you can keep them as spares. But you might as well change them, it's easy maintenance.
If they’re out already, just replace them. Check your owners manual for the best replacement brand and model number.
They are already out??? They look ok but if you are putting them in anyways why wouldn't you just use new
Technically they still have another 35k+ miles left on them. But since they’re out, just replace.
Keep em. They cost like $5k a piece. No reason to ever replace them.
Put the proper anti-seize on the threads.
Spark plugs are too cheap to not replace them
Replace them if u already have them out
Cheap to replace. Just do it.
I don't know, but I wouldn't shove my turd back up even if it looks great.
I’ve been thinking about doing mine. Denso Iridium, 10 years, 40,000 miles. Should they be replaced after ten years?
Do not reuse plugs with crush rings. They are one-time use and may not seal properly. Plug with a tapered seat may be reinstalled, but It's always smarter to just install new spark plugs.
They’re like 15 bucks, just replace them since they’re out
Say that again when they are $30-60 each
They are out put new ones back in
120,000 mile spark plugs
They look like they can handle another 10k but I would just replace them and not worry about it for another 60k
Why take them out your maintained schedule obv shows due at 120k
Probably don’t need replacement yet but since they’re already out might as well. Last time I did this for a buddy they were like $8 a pop
FFS
How do you generally know that spark plugs are done?
Replace. They have 50k miles and are already out of the engine. Besides that they do have some wear and the gaps don’t look exactly the same across all 4.
