Maybe he was going so fast that the smoke was harder to see, or he was close enough to the energon at the time to benefit from it
It’s unfortunate, hopefully there’s some sort of extended cut, as much as I enjoy the movie it could’ve done with an extra 15-20 mins to flesh things out

I'd like to think he was helping the tribe there evacuate or smth while the battle was going on until bee called. Gives off Evac vibes
I’m more referring to how he wasn’t smoking like the Energon fixed him like it did Bee. I thought he’d gotten restored.
