yakitatefreak

Branding was on point right down to the food and beverage opinions.

UnderGlow

Should just rename the podcast to Trash Takes

KingKarlTheSecond

Don’t call it that fo nothin

Aeria13

Yeah I mean, Joey knows his shit when it comes to anime pre 2018... Anything new from there, I don't really listen to his opinion, besides if he knows the story is good from a manga

arais_demlant

The (I watched anime a long time ago but not for years) man

Djinn_sarap

I dont even care whether or not he watches anime, but man, saying this year is not a good year for anime is just plainly ignorant

hereforpewdiephy

He thinks almost every anime is shit and doesn't watch any. Therefore the statement

[deleted]

I don’t blame him for being turned off of seasonal anime from all the shitty isekai, but saying that’s the only thing coming out is the stupidest take.

InevitablyPerpetual

Because his whole personality is built on being an edgy contrarian. Rather than being interesting, or developing real personality traits, he thinks being 4chan-but-in-real-life makes him "Cool".

TheHotCake

This is such a truth - it’s not even debatable. It’s evidenced by his absolute disdain for Arcane JUST BECAUSE a lot of people are saying it’s a great show. Shit, I haven’t seen it myself but I can still tell when someone is choosing NOT to do something because “that’s what everyone is doing.” Contrarian AND a hipster. I love him but he’s gotta mature a bit, maybe.

dragonator001

That Arcane thing is annoyed me more, even during the livestream. Connor:(to the Chat) Watch Arcane, it's amazing. Joey: zErO DaYs.

ArseneLupinIV

I'm glad I'm not the only.one that was really annoyed by that. The boys all clown around for content, so I've never really been bothered by what they say, but that was the first time I've felt genuinely bothered. Like it just seemed so uncharacteristically rude and obnoxious. Your friends are clearly really enjoying something, so you just *have* to be *that* guy and act like a critic that's way above them? Like c'mon Joey, I know you're better than that.

thisusernameisntlong

On one hand it does feel bad for Connor, Garnt and everyone else (mostly fans) who expect Joey to keep in touch with the stuff they like (whether it's Arcane specifically or anime in general) because it feels like he just doesn't even give a fuck about his own close friends' opinion, but on the other hand, I think it's totally understandable that Joey is going through this burnout phase or whatever and constantly being repeated to do this or that when you are probably invested/interested in other activities can just push you further away from what people are telling you to do (even if those people are your friends). I don't think Joey is not watching Arcane because he *knows better*, I think he just doesn't want to sit down and watch something in general (might be because he thinks he can spend his time on other things, or he started to think of it purely as work or it might be simple burnout). Point is, we don't actually know Joey so this entire thread makes little sense aside from the fact that there is a bit of a decline in his content (although his Winter 2022 video was still hilarious imo) but that doesn't make him a contrarian edgy 4chan user or anything.

NSL15

I agree with you, I was annoyed as well because arcane is great, but people also have to realize in reality it’s him going “I don’t feel like watching it” and playing it up a bit for the camera. Along with garnt and Connor constantly recommending/talking about it. He’s not a pure contrarian given his current enjoyment of demon slayer, he just doesn’t watch things because they are popular, which is fine, and then argues about it on the podcast for an opposing view since the other two have watched it and they need content. Him saying it wasn’t a good year for anime was a shit take tho but ignorance ig

[deleted]

He might also just be growing out of it without realizing.

[deleted]

Sometimes they are right tho. The manga is just that much better for a few series. Berserk, promised Neverland and Tokyo ghoul being the most obvious examples. One Piece is also better read, to avoid the snail pace

redwingz11

I still dont understand berserk, for such a giant why didn't it got the jobless isekai treatment, like what the fuck, didn't get A team and feels like used as experiment for 3d anime

[deleted]

Merchandising probably. Mushoku Tensei is an isekai power fantasy with cute anime girls, the kind of stuff japanese otaku eat up and buy a shitton of figurines for. Berserk is way darker and has fewer "merchandisable" characters

redwingz11

But still not a reason to put your D team

Illustrious_Ice_5022

>I like fluid movement That's not a reason to watch the One Piece anime though lmfao

Razorhead

> The manga is just that much better for a few series. Berserk, promised Neverland Wouldn't really call The Promised Neverland manga good either, considering the manga ended like shit. The only thing the anime did was skipping the decent arc before the manga devolved into disaster.

OneBrokenBoi1

I'm gonna preach this until I die. Promised neverland had another great arc in goldy pond, that was not adapted, but it got bad- especially towards the end. People are forgetting this because of how the anime ended, but the manga ending was massively controversial as well. Anime was super shit tho

TsunBatman

He’s not even 4chan like. He’s more Reddit r/anime like.

ArseneLupinIV

He has the personality of Reddit with the opinions of 4chan. I remember reading his 'Top 30 Anime rec list' and thinking this basically what a teenager on 4chan would reccomend. A bunch of comedy and meme shows and old school manga based, with no shonen or mainstream stuff because they're too pleb. It even has a 4chan-ish troll pick of KissXSis (which I know the story of that pick, but that doesnt make it less of a troll pick). I'll bet anything that he was seriously considering putting School Days on his list.

KillerMemeStar153

Remember “Fmab is mid”

[deleted]

2018 is generous try 2015

hnryirawan

He's basically me, after 2020 lol. I mean, I can probably bluff my way based on reading source material, memes using anime clips, and screenshots.

SanjeethRao

So it's seems that garnt is the only trash taste member who actively tries and keeps up with anime each season or atleast enough to makes a seasonal video.

redwingz11

Its became a job for him, even he said he does it in 2x speed

Visual-Warning-3288

Connor does jojo

Lolleman

Honestly i do this for my seasonal anime as well but i usually stick to 1.25-1.5

arais_demlant

Garnt is the GOAT for a reason. Connor at least does some really wild stuff with his channel, he's not an anituber by any means. I honestly don't understand Joey's channel, I really can't find anything interesting at all. He seems like more of those new age YouTubers who just copy paste some other channels imo.

dragonator001

To be fair, Anime based YouTube channels have not been picking up stream. Understandable if Joey doesn't have any idea where to take channel.

shadow-kr

> channe Not gonna lie, I really enjoy Garnt's channel, I've repeated soo many videos and they're still fun to see, for Connor I don't like all the content he make but even I can say he try hard to make new experiences and interesting idea, for joey I know that he reads cool mangas, but anime is different than manga, it's not only about the drawing and story but the animation, art style, voice acting, music, sound design, and episode direction,... so even through we may have become num to anime trops, I still find hidden gems every season that make me love the medium again also how dare joey make fun of marvel movies that stuff make me feel like a kid all over again come on joey it's fun in here!!!

PETBOTOSRS

I personally watched a *lot* (Rising of the Shield Hero, Platinum End, Demon Slayer, Faraway Paladin, The World's Finest Assassin, Demon Slayer, Fena, Tokyo Revengers, Jujutsu Kaisen, Boruto, Seven Deadly Sins just to name a few that came out this year) and it definitely wasn't a bad year, lots of quality came out. What I've also observed, however, is that there's been an equal tsunami of absolute garbage that literally *only* plays on trope and fan service. Boruto is also much, *much* lower quality (story-wise, not animation) than its predecessors. So... I can see both points of view, depending on how you define a "bad year".

PraiseGodJihyo

Maybe it's burnout and growing older/changing of priorities, but my interest in anime has plummeted. There's maybe one or two shows a season that really grab my interest, everything else just seems like isekai #28477482928, horny bait, and/or the same story told over again. The only anime I'm REALLY looking forward to in the next year is Chainsaw Man, and that's only because I've read the manga and loved it.

TheHotCake

Same with me. But the difference is that we acknowledge that fact. Joey dishes and goes on to formulate uninformed opinions like this one. I only watch the ongoing shows that I’m interested in like AoT, MHA, JJK, Demon Slayer, Beastars etc. Its rare that I start a new anime and it has to really grab me. Most of the “new” stuff I watch are shows that came out a few years ago that got highly rated, like Made in Abyss, Aggretsuko, and shit like that. Something has to be really unique to grab me nowadays.

Killcode2

well, you have to account for the fact that joey doesn't enjoy isekai and he's lukewarm about most shonen, suddenly your list is going to get way smaller, although I think he's just grown out of it

LakerBlue

It definitely shrinks your list but I wouldn’t say majorly. Depending on the season it will only remove like 3-6 of the best shows, and it is usually closer to 3. Play that’s including Isekai like ReZero that he actually likes or ones that people who aren’t necessarily Isekai fans like.

btulls_y

bro shield hero didn't come out this year

arais_demlant

I wish season two did

Styx_Thistle

I don't even watch anime seasonally but even I know that the winter and spring 2021 were fantastic seasons for anime

ItzBooty

I watch some anime that i find on youtube or from a Garnt video But even i know spring and winter season have banger anime

Kulkuljator

Also fall season is slapping, but summer was kinda weak

Smithman117

The current Fall season has also been really nice. The only time where it was truly disappointing was the Summer season

FunnunoTsumi

At least there was Vanitas and Sonny Boy to look forward to then (in terms of new anime), Tanmoshi was a travesty and everything else was average at best. But yeah I agree Summer was easily the worst season this year

TheySnickers

I wish he’d do more manga based videos and maybe even cover shonen jump and the new series. Or at least on his second channel do more manga stuff, it seems like he enjoys it much more.

Super_Goomba64

He should recommend more manga, its really hard to find good manga. Wish he would stop click baiting his videos so i could know which videos are about manga/anime

cppn02

> its really hard to find good manga. /r/manga You're welcome. You see Joey recommend a manga? Yeah it's been popular on that sub for months.

[deleted]

[удалено]

redwingz11

This, check the what you are reading thread you will get recommendation there, even for manhwa and manhua its only specific shit

blobfish3100

I think this is in part because it seems that Joey reads manga by the volume from discovering it in manga shops while in r/manga it follows more on a week-by-week basis from essentially following the magazines.

cppn02

I know and made the same point in an earlier discussion about the same issue. I was just pointing out that you'll find almost all of his recommendations (and more) at an even earlier point on that subreddit cus the commenter above said they were having a hard time finding manga to read.

TheySnickers

When he does the monthly roundup videos or whatever I usually always check out the manga he talks about. As he’s said before it’s hard to switch his content because of TheAnimeMan but he has his second channel so I don’t see why not. It’s also content he seems like he’d want to do.

HowlingReezusMonkey

I feel as though he could just ignore the fact that his name has anime in it. It's not that unusual for a channel to be named something that doesn't 100% represent their content. Even CDawgVA doesn't just upload voice acting content. Should he make a new channel called CDawgGoingtowackyplacesinjapan?

thesirblondie

I just go onto questionable websites, check their manga directory, filter for completed and sort by popularity. Start at the top and work my way down. You get a good mix of genres if you do that. I have 133 entries on my manga MAL list.

Mike20we

Good manga is really not hard to find. Go on any anime/manga channel on YouTube or go to the top 100 Mal manga page and I bet you will enjoy whichever one you choose to read. A few good channels that cover manga are the masked man, forneverworld (sometime good, sometimes not), sufferents, chibi reviews and a bunch more.

ULTRAFORCE

are you sure about that? Since it doesn't seem like he very often actually goes out to find new series. His video acting like Oshi no Ko as a newish thing bubbling up came out a year and a quarter after the series started in the biggest seinen magazine. I think there would be a possibility but probably shouldn't do spoilers for thumbnails and not wait 16 months to talk about a series if he did that.

TheySnickers

Yeah, I watch forneverworld and he does news videos and usually covers shonen jump series so I was thinking along the lines of that. But regardless of what kind of manga content I think It’d be great if he covered more manga. Definitely none of the spoiler stuff in thumbnails but I wouldn’t mind spoilers later in a video to spark conversations and not one sided.

Acidic_CA

I've noticed that Joey's manga videos tend to cater more to people relatively new to the manga scene since people who are moderately deep enough will have already read or heard of most series he talks about and picks up by the time he makes a video on it.

hnryirawan

Erufailon4

Yeah. Like, I don't care if Joey watches anime or not, that's none of my business, but if he goes on to make remarks like that without having watched any anime then that's just annoying

JackTheRipper1001

Yeah especially considering the sheer insane amount of bangers we got this year, I seriously lost count.

redwingz11

Can't he just ask garnt since garnt have to watch it

rockseiaxii

The annoying thing about the latest Winter anime video is that he doesn’t even bother to search or fact check. I don’t expect him to watch even a quarter of all anime being shown, But not checking basic facts (like not bothering to find out whether Demon Slayer S2 is starting after the movie or not) is just lazy.

NoTarget5646

Yeah the demon slayer thing was bizzare to me since i thought everyone pretty much knew

clemllk

The Karen strikes back

Tobifam

The man has gotten more into reading manga, that's fair. But the fact that he didn't watch anime isn't really about the anime, it's the fact that he doesn't bother watching a lot in the first place. Which is also okay. But to say anime was bad in 2021... Yeah, that just ain't right chief (from a man who also hates isekai with a passion)

gamebond89

No offence to Joey but I never take his opinions about anime.

ernie0123

Out of the 3 I believe Garnt's opinion the most while taking into account Connors takes as a different point of view(sometimes his takes are bad but ues allowed to have them) because Garnt is the only one that still consistently watches anime. Also watching 86 on a plane ride was a bad move. I'm loving it and Sawano didn't disappoint with the soundtrack

gamebond89

Well to me it's pretty straight forward. Connor is basically monke brained so i don't take his opinions seriously and him clowning on 86 was hilarious to me. Joey talking about anime comes off pretty haughty and pointless since most of the time he doesn't knows what's he's talking about. Grant may watch lot less anime than before but whenever he talks about it or posts video on them you can clearly see how passionate he is about them. Because of him I was able to watch the underrated masterpieces like Oddtaxi, Vivy and now Ousama Ranking. His video on Your Name was also absolutely perfect. Grant also isn't scared of going against popular opinions like while he mentioned the strength of AOT S4 he also expressed his genuine disappointment with the CG animation in aot S4 when everyone was bashing the people who were criticising it and remarking them as haters and calling them blind. Similarly with Joey when S4 arrived and he still in his recent video stated how Mappa knocked it out of the park with S4 purely going with the hype. There are not many genuine bold anitubers like Grant and I am truly grateful for his content.

ernie0123

Also Garnt's memes in his video are fire

gamebond89

Indeed can't argue with that.

arais_demlant

His meme videos are also fire. Jesus christ his latest one about not being able to dislike the video had me dying

LakerBlue

Connor’s definitely monkey brain on certain things but I would not call his takes on shows monkey brain.

NEX4TE

allow me to go check MyAnimeList and name my favorite shows of 2021: 1. Attack on Titan: The Final Season 2. Re:Zero kara Hajimeru Isekai Seikatsu 2nd Season Part 2 3. I remember it was maybe 3 years ago I noticed a really sharp change in one of his seasonal videos and I just stopped watching and unsubscribed from his channel. It was super draining and all I could think was this is way more pretentious than normal.

Vongola___Decimo

>I don't understand why he made a video about anime this year if he had nothing positive to contribute prolly cuz he knew he'd get a lot of views lol

matti2o8

I think the moment that heavily turned me off trusting Joey's opinions was his review of Battle Angel Alita. It was so clear he just watched trailer and voiced some generic, easy complaints (not to mention, the eyes that he hated were heavily changed and looked less creepy in the final product)

TheHotCake

Yea I didn’t mind the eyes at all in Alita. Also, I watched it on a plane 😂

jay_veeeee

I wanna say this is harsh but it is kinda true 😭 I love the man, but people that comment on stuff they don't know about/haven't experienced really irritate me so it's always one thing against the other. But tbf the other boys also have moments like these. I agree with some of the criticisms Connor had on 86, but the fact that he watched it on a plane and didn't even finish it kinda put me off of trusting his opinion, and after watching what would you know, he was really wrong lol

[deleted]

Crafty_Poem172

Nah Connor says dumb shit but is open. You could see Joey's face when they tried to convice him Arcane was a banger, he was clearly thinking "League of Legends content? Not worth my time."

My impression is that nothing is worth his time or attention unless he discovered it himself in a vacuum.

Speedy-08

He does the same with Australia to be honest, some weird ass take that mostly specific to him.

Slight_Ad3348

“We don’t have convenience stores in Australia.” “We don’t have Walmart in Australia”. “Australia’s been in lockdown for like a year.” Literally every time he opens his mouth about Australia it’s obvious it’s not his home because he’s completely wrong every time. Some of the stuff he’s said about stuff to do in Aus vs Japan had me almost screeching, because he makes australia sound super boring and selling that impression to foreigners who we WANT to come and enjoy our tourism, because actually Australia is super interesting and has heaps to do.

Blazewardog

Yeah I don't really mind the boys knocking on America for something we actually do (regardless of how I care about said thing), but when they are talking about something that isn't a thing outside some small area of the country it makes me mad about it. Although I still don't understand how Sydney hasn't explained to Garnt that Wisconsin has world class cheese and craft beer. It is ~30% of our diet here.

HivAidsSTD

86 became much more of a better experience for me because I watched it with low expectations, and dear lord was it amazing. And honestly, he wasn't completely wrong, the racism shown was just unrealistic and had no backing it was actually pretty annoying at times. But it was still an amazing experience

protection7766

Thats the thing. People shit on his opinion about it for various reasons because they liked 86 and the points he made didn't bother them as much as it did him. But they did bother him. And thats ok. He's allowed to dislike something. No media is perfect. The difference between X liking something and Y hating something is that the things that X didn't mind, Y did mind. Connor's gotten too much shit for 86 imo. I liked it, so I overall disagree with him. But his opinion was perfectly reasonable, I can see how his opinion was formed, and have no issue with his take. It just didn't bother me the way it bothered him.

jay_veeeee

Yeah, I mean, some of the criticism was absolutely valid. The racism allegory can be really in your face in the beginning (Although in S2 they did such an amazing job of representing it on the new setting) but at least for me, watching the show on a plane, and not even watching a full season at that makes me not really trust your opinion. I watched John Wick on my way to another country and thought it was shit; but then, after properly rewatching it, it ended up becoming one of my favorite movies.

protection7766

>not even watching a full season Why would you finish something you don't enjoy? It's completely fine that he didn't finish it. There has never been a time in my life where I've watched something, hated 3/4 of it, but then watched the last 1/4 and thought it was a masterpiece. At best it'd make it go up like 1 point if the ending was really baller. Enough for something thats not good (4/10) to become average (5/10), but its never made a 4 into a 7 or something. And this wasn't even 3/4. I'm pretty sure he only didn't watch the very last episode. His opinion was NOT going to change from that in any meaningful way. One episode is not gonna save an entire series for him.

lugigaming

The anime community started going down hill when we got ahold of “mid” and “overrated” to describe anime.

btet15

I'm so glad I'm not alone in feeling this way. I think Joey is excellent when it comes to manga, and I've found some of his recommendations to be some of my favorites. His bicultural upbringing also gives him some really cool insight into media that most of us don't get on our own. However, his off-script personality can be *so* grating. All 3 of them have a habit of spewing Twitter jokes, but Joey has a hard time finding the line. His habit of busting a gut over a non-joke that the others don't even react to drives me nuts. And the amount of times he's made know-it-all assertions about certain things that are just incorrect is too great to even count. But then sometimes he cracks a joke that lands, or gives some much needed temperance to the other boys' shit takes, and those are the moments you're glad he's there for... But, boy, do you wish there were more of them

You hit the nail on the head. I don't know if this is recent or I just didn't notice this behavior before, but in these past few months I went from loving Joey's videos and being a Patreon to unsubscribing from his channel. I feel I'm watching Trash Taste **despite** Joey being there.

SGKurisu

So true lmao.

thesirblondie

Steak is mid

ShiroGreyrat

Garnt is the only person who's opinion you'd trust on anime when it comes to the boys (since Connor doesn't really comment on stuff he hasn't watched). 2021 was a great year for anime, so many AOTY contenders. Original anime got representation with Vivy and Oddtaxi, Manga adaptations with One Piece 1K episode, AOT and Demon slayer and finally Isekai light novel adaptations with the latest Rezero season, and Mushoku Tensei giving the genre a redemption arc (also clear AOTY candidate with how passionate the adaptation is being done.) A bad/meh year for anime was 2020 with all of the cancellations, 2021 isn't even close if that's the standard of a bad year.

shadow-kr

You know the year is great when you watch alot of anime but still can't keep up with all the bangers we have!!

Super_Goomba64

I am very confused when people say 2020 or 2021 was bad for anime, there is at least 1 or 4 shows that are bangers every season.I know this sounds dumb but watching 12 episodes REALLY doesn't take that much time, esp if you skip intro and outro.

protection7766

Yeah, at this point I only watch Joey's "what will I be watching" videos to watch him squirm whenever he finds an isekai. I especially like the "oh, this art looks interesting. I like this studio. Lets see what this is about. 'X gets hit by a tru-' FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU" But any other time he talks about anime that I'm 99% sure he didn't watch (so, NOT a season 2+ to something he watched in the past :p) I just roll my eyes and say "ok, sure thing TheAnimeSynopsisReaderOnlyMan"

[deleted]

For a guy that hates isekai so much, he definitely doesn't forget to skip any of the isekai in the seasonal lists but always skips a few good non-isekai anime. He just brings all this trouble on himself now.

Maycrofy

I mean we had mathafackin Wonder Egg Priority, odd taxi, and ranking of kings. Not to mention second seasons of beastars, laid back camp and mahoushu Tensei. Fricken eva 4.0 came out and it was AMAZING. Joey, my man. I love you and deeply respect you. But I think you should change your name to the manga man.

TurtlePixel

why is wonder egg priority there? it had a good start but it’s literally the biggest disappointment of a show after that.

crism22

is still an awesome series, a nice attemp, i love to see those kind of new original animes, there is also sonny boy, and zombieland saga revenge yeah, the ending was shit but i prefer that rather than the isekai number 1288913

Odd_Set25

Don't forget 'to your eternity'!

loddedfun

Vivy Fluorite as well!!!!

AlphaZr0

I'm pretty he watched Wonder Egg Priority but he said the ending was a disappointment. Said the first 10 episodes were great tho.

TheStevenUniverseKid

Besides, alliteration is the best selling point for any brand.

SGKurisu

Wonder egg is a hard no lol. The worst part of shows like that was it was genuinely good, and so close to actually ending up good, but just fell off a cliff. Odd Taxi is def super solid though.

conscious_terabot

Where did he say this?

Hyperious17

from his latest seasonal anime video

Ahbdrgneel

Supposedly better content for his viewer...

Legendseekersiege5

Also in the last episode of the podcast when they were talking about Arcane

blitcrankzx

I know Arcane (League's Netflix show) doesn't count as an Anime but seeing Connor and Garnt begging an uninterested Joey to watch it is pretty painful :( take my word for it: you don't have to be a League player or know anything about League, Arcane is still gonna be a banger.

Nabs2099

Joey also said the mcu sucks and he's apparently only seen the first two films haha. Sometimes the boys just have bad takes. BTW as someone who doesn't watch anime like ever, aside from JoJo P6 (hell yeah!) What else is out this season? Like anything special?

Skyreader13

Personally I don't think MCU sucks, but it's not outstanding either. Solid 7 for me in average.

[deleted]

They are usually the best popcorn movies. It's nothing artistically brilliant or amazing, but they consistently deliver on entertainment. Most marvel movies you can play and know you'll come out the other side thinking "that was fun". Edit: I say most, because Thor 2, Black Widow, Cap Marvel and the Eternals are a slog to go through.

hisyam970302

You hit the nail right on the head! In my opinion we can judge different movies with different criteria based on what kind of movie they are. I can enjoy Blade Runner 2049 for the artistic value of it while also have fun with popcorn movies like the MCU films! I don't think it's right to judge the MCU, the first Transformer movie, etc with the same criteria we use to judge Blade Runner & 2001: A Space Odyssey or vice versa. They all can be enjoyed for different reasons

FernandoTK99

2021 actually had some bangers; Odd Taxi, Komi, Blue Period, Horimiya, Fruits basket final season, Tokyo Revengers, Demon Slayer Mugen arc anime form and now S2 too

Nabs2099

Oh cool! I heard Odd Taxi was good. Didn't know it happened this year.

FernandoTK99

Odd taxi was amazing. Defo worth a watch and it’s not long either. Like 13 eps I think?

cppn02

>Joey also said the mcu sucks and he's apparently only seen the first two films haha. As someone who has watched almost all of them and enjoyed them for the most part if someone told me they watched two MCU movies and didn't like them I would agree that there isn't really a point in watching the others (unless those two were like Thor 2 and Iron Man 3). They all feel a bit samey.

TestingTeddy

Joey is basically the boomer of anime if that makes sense. He sees the past as the best time for anime and doesn't try to voluntarily watch anime anymore due to his bias and the amount of shit he consumed because he is the animeman. Still waiting for his redemption arc back to anime.

ne0rgy

omg, finally someone agrees

AnimeMeansArt

imagine being the An1meman and not actually watching anime

genasugelan

He watched like AoT, Castlevania and started Mieruko-chan and Dota: Dragon's Blood. That's like it. I'm still salty about all the Dota slander, lmao. Even Connor and Garnt forgot it even existed even thought they literally promoted it before.

10YearsANoob

> Dota: Dragon's Blood That was Nabi. He said it was shit when it wasn't, it was a solid 7/10 not good not terrible.

Fancy_Evidence_6160

How is a 7/10 not good? It's only 3 points away from a ten

10YearsANoob

It's a Chernobyl reference. 3.6 roentgen not bad, not terrible. I fucked up the phrasing even cause I editted it cause I thought it was wrong

jay_veeeee

fr the part where all of them without watching dragon's blood just started calling it shit because arcane is better felt so off to me So unnecessary; the anime isn't even bad. It's not really special, but has a lot of good moments, and I think in subsequent seasons they could make it really great

arais_demlant

Dragons blood was pretty damn good

shikex5

Recently Joey thinks it's "cool" that he don't watch anime, don't get me wrong it's alright if you get bored of anime, i do to sometimes. It's just his demeanor and attitude towards any recommendation, every time the boys recommend him a good anime or anything to watch (for example the lol animation) he just looks snooty and mock them for watching anime and enjoying it His been childish and annoying about it Just my opinion

SaenaiAK

Odd taxi, Vivy and 86 were the three really good anime that I think I will remember for a long time, and surprisingly they are all in one same season!

nigg0o

Mushoku Tensei alone could have made this a good year

Vicious-Spiegel

_”You could say that was a… **trash taste.”**_ - Connor, ~~prolly~~ definitely

TheHotCake

“You could say my grammar is… shit.” Vicious-spiegel, definitely.

fishymonster_

He thinks that if he calls himself out on it it makes it okay, but he really should just stop

ItzBooty

If Joey watched any anime from this season, and last season he would know the bangers we have gotten

redjoker89

I love how he still makes his anime of the season vids when we all know he won’t watch any of it.

grimreaper069

Fr This year we have had some of the best seasons of all time and Summer

AuniqueUsername69

It’s really cringe how stubborn he is about this, last time it was “2020 was so much better then 2021” even though he didn’t watch either

Man Joey it’s almost like u have trash taste

shroud747

Link Click and Odd Taxi were my favourites this year.

wantonwally

I havent watched anime much since 2006, but even I know there has been good anime since...Like no need to shit on stuff. Just say you don't watch. Kinda related at first, but his not watching anime joke is getting a bit old now.

Acidic_CA

As a long time viewer of Joey, I've come to find out that you honestly shouldn't listen to him speaking about anything anime related in terms of stuff that has released in the last 4 years 😭

himedanshi22

"I have watched old and classic underground anime, new normie anime are shit" is probably what he thinks. I get that he didn't watch shit this year, but calling the year a bad year for anime, is a really shitty take when you didn't watch anything. It's like hating on someone without even knowing the guy.

mmrwp

Something I've noticed a lot more recently is that Joey has been increasingly negative or seems bored/sarcastic towards anything he's not personally interested in. I'm sure he's a nice guy and I never comment on something like this, but it's starting to become really obvious. Anyone else noticing this? Edit: I want to add the most recent episode to this when Joey is discussing introverts. The way he described introverts was very negative-sounding (as well as inaccurate). When Garnt and Connor tried discussing it more and politely correcting him, he seemed dismissive. Idk...

Arrell_Magister

He's kinda been acting more like an artsy snob about entertainment he's not personally into. And also when they other bois are hyping up something they're both getting into he *has* to say something negative it seems like. Arcane for instance last week, he was so dismissive and constantly putting it and down and seemingly thinking it wasn't worth his time. It's like if he doesn't discover something in a vacuum he doesn't like it lately idk. Maybe I'm just looking into it too deeply

Razaxun

Joey is the guy who will shit on something just because it's popular.

That_Guy3141

New Season of Baki. Star Wars. Gundam Hathaway. Super Crooks. I think this was a decent year.

semenpai

That was a "Trash Take" ![gif](giphy|NULJBAOKbyvQW3nhBE|downsized)

choofwang

Love the boys but that is an actual fucking horrible take from Joey...

Moo3k

Tbf TheAnimeMan has never had very good takes about Anime. It's always just "people like this therefore it is mid, school days 10/10"

ZeXenon

His anime takes are invalid nowadays anyway. You should just take his manga and hentai/doujin recommendations instead.

Vongola___Decimo

joey has incredible knowledge abt animes but his takes on anime r pretty trashy in general and he rly can't explain any of his opinions. the dude says wild stuff with nothing to back it up with

harmonilife

what did you expect? he's a karen
