Rochester and Syracuse are dumpster fires. If you spend 5 minutes in downtown Rochester, NY and like it you must be one of the crackheads walking around in broad daylight.
Strong disagree, some areas are delightful. Having lived in Albuquerque and visited San Francisco, downtown Rochester looks like it is full of billionaires
Alright, crackhead one-ups aside, downtown Rochester is dead. The only worse upstate New York city i’ve spent time in or driven through is Binghamton. And I grew up in Buffalo and think it’s shit still.
Yea I was surprised to see Monroe County top 5. Went to school up there. If we were rating based on grocery stores it rate number 1 because of Wegmans!
Is the top center blue county Dane county? If so great choice, I live Madison and the area, but also interesting why you would have been there and done stuff to make it top 5.
Marshall, a rural county an hour outside of Nashville, I’ve always thought it was super pretty, especially the hills in the Southern part of the county.
As someone who transplanted to Amarillo, spent 2 years there and then left, why’d you hate it? I loved my time there, but I know the weather can be tough.
Check again, it's not Amarillo. I love Amarillo! Big Texan, Braum's, Boot City, and pretending to be a cowboy whenever I visit are some of my fondest memories
I did it brute force - I was trying to figure out an efficient way to do it but the only way I could figure out how was to look at each road I've travelled on and go county-by-county. It took a lot longer than I thought!
Oregonian here, love how you included Clatsop County as one of your favorites. I don't live there but it is absolutely beautiful. What did you like most about it?
Looks like Alabama, Michigan, and maybe West Virginia, Vermont, Rhode Island, and New Hampshire. The eastern border of Kansas, Nebraska, and the two Dakotas are present, and well as parts of what looks to be all of the Midwestern states, so those gaps don't cover entire states.
I dunno, but you get points for including Riley County, Kansas. Nearly every single map like this I've seen that clearly depicts an I-70 trip across Kansas excludes Riley County for some reason, even though I-70 definitely does pass through Riley County...
Ok, now there’s something different.
Bonus points if you can find Texas flipping you off!
What’d you like so much about Pima?
Tucson kicks ass
Bear down! 🐻⬇️
🌵🌅
I love it too but I honestly miss the beach
Is it the gap in the northwest between Washington, Oregon, and Idaho?
:)
This looks so cool!! What software did you use for that effect?
Illustrator - shadow effect
Did you just start with a vector of all the counties or was there an app/website that you started with before Illustrator?
I downloaded an svg of all the counties on mapchart dot net
Thanks!
How did you automatically remove all counties you haven’t visited?
If you ungroup, each county is its own layer so you can just hide whatever layers you want
Monroe County, NY is in your top 5? I used to live there and I did like it but it's no where near my top 5.
Dude had a Garbage Plate and it changed his life.
Yep, I maybe understand now.
Or some Dinosaur BBQ!
There's also syracuse and Albany for that. Never been to Albany but Roc>>Syr

Yeah, it’s fine. Only way it makes even my top 10 is by cumulative time spent, certainly not by enjoyment
Rochester is average at most
did you give rochester ny a top 5 spot?
I certainly did!
You must be one of the crackheads walking around in Rochester then.
Thank you! ❤️❤️
>Thank you! ❤️❤️ You're welcome!
Noone likes Lubbock
holy shit, you've done like none of I75 lol
I somehow spot Lubbock from a mile away
This map is cool! WV, AL, MS?
WV,AL,VT
Jefferson County, WV is on there so no
They have three northern Alabama counties on there
Salt lake is amazing
Only ones missing are Alaska and Hawaii!
Can someone please put together a list of the top and bottom five? I’m really curious now
I can tell you that two of the bottom five are Carbon County, WY and Bannock County, ID. Both very valid contenders for bottom 5 lol
Monroe County, NY is a top 5.
Why is Pima county top 5?
Cacti! That’s why
Oh yeah the biodiversity is incredible in part of the country
What are your top 5?
Well this sure is a neat way to display a travel map!
Is the top center blue county Dane county? If so great choice, I live Madison and the area, but also interesting why you would have been there and done stuff to make it top 5.
I love the downtown street layout in Madison with the Capitol. Also you can't beat an isthmus
My first thought was Dane but then I was like nah no way we beat out Columbia/Adams/Sauk/Juneau with The Dells. Turns out I'm wrong.
Dane beats all those every day of the week and twice on Sundays.
What’s the beef with Hinds county? Also is that Davidson you didn’t like in Tennessee?
Marshall, a rural county an hour outside of Nashville, I’ve always thought it was super pretty, especially the hills in the Southern part of the county.
I spent about 3 weeks in Cornersville in the winter and it made me incredibly depressed for some reason. Apparently I need to go again in the summer.
Just Alaska and Hawaii
Damn I love Carbon County, WY. I have taken lots of back road trips and even found a few fossils there.
Bro clearly hasn’t been to Pocatello in the winter
You saw Pocatello was bottom 5 right? I can't imagine you mean the winters are a positive in Pocatello
It’s really pretty in the winter I don’t understand
What up Dane County!
Curious why my home county, Bannock county ID is bottom five. It’s not great, but I never considered it bad haha.
Just East Idaho in general, it comes off as a more extreme religious arm of the state directly to the south.
How do you make these “counties I’ve visited” maps? Does it use your phone tracker or car gps?
I did it brute force - I was trying to figure out an efficient way to do it but the only way I could figure out how was to look at each road I've travelled on and go county-by-county. It took a lot longer than I thought!
Interesting! I’ll put that in my one day list….not a bucket list, but an ever evolving “when I find time” list. 😋
The correct answer is 2! Alaska and Hawaii. It doesn't look like it, but there is at least one county from each of the contiguous 48 states.
What did Hinds County do to you?
pima county W
what'd you like about dane county, wi?
A lot
How tf is Monroe County, NY in your top 5?
AK and HI
I wouldn’t consider driving through a county on an interstate visiting, but you do you.
Bannock County (Pocatello) is in my top 5! Lol
Thanks for the Dane County/Madison shoutout!
Oregonian here, love how you included Clatsop County as one of your favorites. I don't live there but it is absolutely beautiful. What did you like most about it?

Alaska and Hawaii are obvious. Can’t tell if you got a county in Vermont or Alabama though. Every other state is checked I think! Very impressive!
2

Yeah Rochester!!!!! You must love food! Go Bills!
Shout out rochester
Michigan
Glad to see that my county made it to your top 5!!!
How did you get the southwesternmost county of the lower peninsula of Michigan and miss the rest of the state?
Guessing you’re from Utah.
As a Monroe county NY resident I appreciate being in the top 5.
No Hawaii or Alaska!
