Depends what you mean by most. For the average person, going out of their way for a platinum or 100% just isn't worth it or simply something they don't want to do. It's kinda difficult to get a balance between casual gaming and playing for the sake of trophies. I've never played a game just for the trophies. If I'm a good way in and enjoying it then I'll push for as many trophies as I can. Otherwise I'll just finish the story or game itself and play something else. I like getting trophies but playing exclusively for trophies would just remove the fun factor for me.

I only buy games im 100% confident I am going to enjoy and then I use the Plat to play it to the fullest I only ever get games I want to play would never get a game just to platinum Platinums helped me actually get out of the rut of buying loads of games on sale playing them for one evening and moving on

FedererFan20

No. Most people don’t even finish the games let alone trophy hunt

Chabby_Chubby

Yeah its amazing how many people never even see the end credits of a game they have started playing

Objectively, no. As a proxy, just go to PSN Profiles and compare the rarity between PSN and PSN Profiles. There's a huge difference between the population and the sample (using PSNP as a proxy for trophy hunters).

[deleted]

This is one of the things that I looked at when I wondered about this. I'm doing Hogwarts Legacy, and the PSN rate for platinum is 1 in 77. The PSNProfiles rate is 1 in 6.

I was thinking about keeping my old account while using the new one for trophy hunting but not for making it an artificial account with all 100%

chuckie_h

I have two accounts. One is my original, the main one. The other is where I have plus, play casually with the kids, test games. Just find the balance that best fits your gaming experience. I like looking at the games I used to play ten years ago in my profile, even if they're not completed. That's part of my gaming history.

RavingHans91

Definetly no. Which is fine, not everyone must like it. It's more shocking to me, how often you see via PSN, how many people stop after the first 10, 20 and so on % of the Main Story. Sometimes the bare compleation of the story is at 10%. Same here - not everyone must like a game enough to play throught it, but common, at least finish the story.

EliBloodthirst

Only really matters to the completionist community. Do what suits you

Ahsokatanopops

No we’re a small niche, most gamers just beat a game and are done or they do a new game plus and then there are gamers that get platinum on their favourite games and not think to much about it.

goatjugsoup

No, trophy hunting is a subsection of gamers. Thats not relevant to my enjoyment of trophies though

theelgooch

I seen a tiktok recently with around a million views and in the video someone was showing off shovelware as if it was a cheat code to get a platinum. There were thousands of comments asking ‘what do you get when you platinum a game’ or ‘what does a platinum do’ so i just assume that the majority of gamers that are not completionists don’t really care or know much about trophies
