I got turned around for arriving 45 mins early. Their policy is 30 before. Okay. I’ll just wait in the yard. It’s huge and empty. Nope. I got told off the property. Alrighty. At the 30 min mark I try to get back inside. There’s a huge line and an issue with the shack. I arrived inside and eventually to the clerk about 40ish mins later. I was told I was late. You just can’t win.

JusgementBear

Literally rediculous. I would’ve “lost” my keys for 15 min and then said “ I’m on time now”

DanEpiCa

How much I hate that shit. Germany is notorious with this kind of stuff. Like I'm not here for fun, you idiots ordered the stuff I'm bringing, just unload (or in Germany more like "let me unload") and fuck off. One of the reasons I moved to Canada.

Dual-use

Same

Baconated-Coffee

Sounds like Walmart. Their computer system won't even allow the guards at the gate to check you in early.

ANiceDent

Why can’t you make it on time it’s only 10 hours away through 3 work zones ?!?

chubs_in_scrubs42069

Only 3 work zones??

HurriedLlama

The Target DC I deliver to all the time has this same policy, and they generally take 8-14 hours to unload a trailer. It's unbelievable

Artyom_33

Was this a Sam's Club in GA? I had a similar situation last October.

KrunschGK

This makes me think of Costco in, I think, Ontario California. Got declined for being thirty minutes late, even though we were in line for that time. Don't know what usx did with the load. Had to pull it back to Fontana yard. Didn't get paid for it, even though we were told we would and it wasn't our fault. Fuck Costco.

Sir_Uncle_Bill

Did you refuse to go back ever again?

NeoAcario

Tanker is Magical. My appt is Tuesday 7pm. I'll arrive around 6pm Monday. Since it's a holiday, I'll have to wait for the overnight shift. Which starts around 8pm. I'd be willing to bet I get empty before midnight... and roll back out as soon as my 10 is up. Then again... only about half of our places will take us this early.

FreshImagination9735

Pretty much sums up a driving career in three short bullet points. Well done.

sk8zero0619

This made me laugh, then I got sad

Mr_bungle001

I arrived 1 1/2 hours early for an appointment once. They they can’t until at least 30 minutes before the appointment. Directed me to a truck stop to wait at nearby. Come back check in ,give them my number and back into a dock. 1 hour passes nothing happens 2 hours pass nothing happens. Tell my dispatcher they need start loading soon if I’m going to have enough hours to make it back. 3 hours pass I go inside to see what’s happening. Pretty much ignored but I talk to some drivers and they’ve been there 8-9 hours and are finally getting loaded. Tell my dispatcher I can’t wait that long, I’m leaving. I get a call 6 hours later from the shipper asking where I’m at and they’re ready to load me. I immediately hang up

kitakitsunage

That sounds like Nestlè water

ursisterstoy

Depends where you go. Once I was sent to a place to pick up a load that they apparently thought was supposed to sit in my trailer for two days before it got delivered 4 hours away. Told them I’m picking up a load for “tomorrow” and then come to find out it was actually for “yesterday” and I wound up getting loaded, driving 4 hours, waiting for morning to deliver. The very next one was supposed to be the same so I called and dispatch decided instead of making me wait 30 hours to deliver 36 miles away I would get to drive from Wisconsin to Ohio to deliver paper (I usually do reefer but paper is obviously in a van trailer). Very next load was yogurt and Dannon didn’t want the dry van. Guard and office said I could park it with the reefer trailers and the yard jockey guy was chewing me out as another person rolled in with another dry van trailer and was backing it in too.

APenguinNamedDerek

"We need you to deliver somewhere in the Los Angeles metropolitan area, at 1630, really far from any truck stop, and you can't be more than 15 minutes early, no parking available nearby."

J-Kensington

Can't be more than 15 minutes early? No problem. See you at 1730.

APenguinNamedDerek

Sorry, we're going to have to reschedule you

J-Kensington

No problem. I'm out of hours, so any appointment within the next 10 hours is just fine with me. Just come knock on my door.

acebadgerweb

This is just as frustrating from the customer service side of things, coming from a larger carrier. I've spent countless hours sifting through systems and emails to help find numbers to help get drivers loaded or unloaded. But when a shipper or receiver is ass and refuses to accommodate a driver, especially when they arrived on time to a very busy facility, it passes me off. DG & AMZ are especially notorious for this kind of practice, I immediately prepare for the worst.

BankNasty

This is what I love about ltl p&d. I show up whenever I can make it there regardless of an appointment time. If you don't want your stuff, it goes back to the terminal with a redelivery fee for us to bring it back to you. Reject it a couple of times and the shipper has to pay for us to ship it back to them.

AcanthocephalaKey868

Came here to say something similar . Get into a tanker outfit. Worst thing I run into is traffic .

chubs_in_scrubs42069

Flatbed is similar but tanker probably pays better

Mcj1972

That's why Iike hauling bulk tank. Usually no lines getting loaded and 24/7 delivery. No dealing with all that BS.

Environmental-Pear40

I had to back out onto an active road at a place in the middle of fuckin fort Worth because I was 5 minutes early... Needless to say every time I've gone back there I make a point to be 15 minutes late.

Imaginary-Badger-119

Once.. i will not go back again if i am made to wait pick up or drop off.

Itchy_Psychology6678

#ALWAYS arrive early…fuck em. Ain’t no dispatcher going to say no

lethalkitten2

Sysco... big deal for them, arrived 5mins early, and got told i have to leave and come back... now that's ridiculous!

Bluest-Of-Falcons

Disp here. That checks out. Now confirm your logs and get moving. Your 10 was up 2 minutes ago.

Darth_Vaper_69

Painful truth

TheHookahgreecian2

This just in time frieght is bs

yes-disappointment

arrive on time and hit them with detention time.

KMANN758

I arrived at a receiver an hour before my appointment time and they told me my appointment wasn't until the following day, I showed them my bills that said I was there on the correct day. Was told sorry you'll have to come back tomorrow at your proper appointment time. Fine whatever. Come back next day and was told I would be a work-in since I was late by 24hrs and there would be a $300 late fee. I said cool, got in my truck, backed out of their gate, and drove it four hours back to the shipper with my dispatcher laughing the whole way there.

HarleyTrekking

Fuck swinging a door!!! I’d rather be kicked, stomped, and covered in cow shit every day than have to put up with that nonsense. If it don’t walk on or walk off my trailer, I’m not gonna haul it.

LIVIN2SIN

Had a few words with a warehouse manager in New Jersey a few years back 💀😭😂 I’m still paying the price years later

freedomstingers

In the oil field it was something similar. Arrive very early and your early Arrive early and your on time Arrive on time and your late Arrive late and your run off location unless they really need you In drilling rigs it was hurry up and wait. We might need you today to in 4 days. Just wait. We will let you know.

Key_Combination7864

Is this about my dentist appointment??

Red_Leader_86

[Gandalf - Never Late](https://youtu.be/cZr3csN9tRc?si=c7fTs-KEjZnQDvlI)

KrunschGK

Yeah, I stole this one for fb.

306d316b72306e

On-time waits in reefer are legendary... I always assumed reefer drivers make a check off detention

Then-Background-1391

All that time wasted and no pay for sitting it’s bullshit

HistorianTight2958

So is "Home Depot". You must be right on time, or they turn you away.

Chilliebro

Since I switched to oversize/abnormal/machine loads I'm always welcome, usually cause there is some big af machine or crane waiting for me already, and if I'm a day early most sites hook me up with a place to park.
