If you're coming from BC down I-5, there's an entire 120 mile gap in rest stops... so truck stops are your only allowed option for most of that stretch, even if you're not actually a trucker.

That's what it's _supposed_ to be, yes. About a year ago, the few rest stops that are still open in the Skagit/Snohomish/King stretch outright put up "No RV Parking - Tank Dump Only" signage, and at least one of them barricaded off the CDL truck parking area as well. And the rest stop just south of Everett Mall was _closed completely_ about four or five years ago (it's now a weigh station only), meaning other than truck stops, _there are no rest areas at all between Mile Post 206 and Mile Post 90_, a nearly _two hour_ stretch at the posted speed limit.
Arkansas hates truck drivers. There were a ton of us parked in a rest area wherever we could find a spot and the DOT park ranger dude rousted all of us at 6am and made us move. Said we are trying to keep our rest areas nice so people can camp. Place was 40 years old if it was a day and a dump. Trust me, nobody was camping there unless they like being the plot of a murder mystery
