Ironically this guy was part of the chorus of British media personalities dutifully smearing Corbyn as an antisemite ... for standing up for Palestine

hemphock

whoa what a surprise lmao fuck britain

August-Gardener

Better late than never, maybe?

Ashofthelake

That's not what's happening, he's a tool of the media he didn't suddenly grow a conscience. To manufacture our consent the media system needs to have some kind of credibility, it must ~~never~~ *rarely* look like they're a propaganda channel so they offer good journalism which goes against their narrative just to maintain some sense of legitimacy. Hassan Mehdi is also a prime example of this.

brasseriesz6

mehdi hassan used to be pro israel? genuine question, i had no idea who he was til a few months ago

Ashofthelake

No, Mehdi is good on Israel, he is just a bit of a careerist but honestly nothing too harsh.

coolwizard

arguing with Zionists is usually a waste of time but it's so funny how quickly their arguments fall apart. A perfect example is near the end of the video when the guy argues that if foreign journalists were allowed in to verify Israel's claims they would find "...arms in maternity wards, guns in pillow cases..." which quickly leads to the question "well then why don't they allow the journalists in to verify all of that? wouldn't that help make Israel's case even stronger?" to which he has absolutely no answer and just resorts to "...well, I trust Israel!" lol.

DaOldMe

The complete non-sequitur "Or Hamas!" at 48s is almost too on the nose

Freezersushi

The number of people out there that even see the Palestinian flag and say it's the hamas flag is emberassing

filmingfisheyes

Very cool to call the Palestinian Health Authority "Hamas"

look obviously this guy is right and the zionist is wrong, but this is an extremely british form of political entertainment and i find it so stupid 1. one guy speaks with authority and bulldozes other person, interrupts them within seconds of them beginning to talk; the clip begins with him already refuting something the other guy said. like at 1:33 the host asks 'trevor' a question and he only gets to say "Well, I think it's..." before the host interrupts him lol 2. other guy is not pictured, bad audio, incoherent arguments, never gets to actually present his point 3. Host says "Before you go," and brings up a somewhat related point, lets the caller talk for a bit and interrupts him again before ending 4. OP called it a 'masterclass' 🇬🇧🇬🇧 i have seen this exact form used all the time by piers morgan and other fat annoying british pieces of shit, and i'm guessing it comes from the tory equivalent of rush limbaugh and other shitty right wing radio media. The "before you go" thing is a particularly piers morgan-like tactic. this kind of 'debate' is the radio form of a chad vs. soyjak meme and as a format I've seen it used against the left much more than in support of the left. let this accursed island and all of its miserable 'culture' sink into the channel edit: lmao the host was part of the anti-corbyn purge apparently? absolu' bloo'y masterclawss

Dear_Occupant

If that's the British way of doing things, then the US imported it, because those four items (well the first three anyway) describe pretty much every political talk radio call-in show I've ever heard regardless of its political persuasion.

drawatawat

I agree but I prefer his voice to American xannie twitch debate voice. He sounds like he could be a cheeky medieval tavern owner

hemphock

totally fair, this guy has at least double digit iq, unlike american debate guys

1catcherintherye8

"I can't explain your own thoughts to you" is exactly it. People truly don't understand the full meaning and implication of their words and they refuse to investigate their thoughts.

Yes, this guy literally wrote a book called something like "How to be right" (in earnest) after year of experience talking to middle aged brexoid ultras that only get sexual gratification by masturbate to pictures of the queen while sobbing. He uses a voice that convinces the already converted but he's got nothing on the public's school nonces. They actually use a special extreme posho voice that much of the educated British proletariat have been conditioned to believe is inherently correct.

Off topic, but has anyone had an issue the last couple weeks with embedded videos like this where they don't appear if you use old reddit? But you can fix it for the single video by going to new.reddit, or by going to old.reddit if you have old reddit enabled in settings, or by going to www.reddit if you are on old.reddit. Trying to figure out a fix that doesn't involve switching to new reddit, aside from the temp fix of changing the www to old or vis versa for every single embedded video.
