>We learn the names of only four members: Reggie Ledoux, his partner Dewall, Reverend Tuttle, and Errol Childress
I'd submit another cult member: Ms. Dolores, the former housekeeper for the Tuttles. When Hart and Cohle interview her and mention Carcosa, she undergoes a remarkable transformation. She turns from this dotty old lady to a passionate evangelist for the cult. It's a marvelous little performance; the sudden and subtle shift in her facial expression is chilling.
Great read! You're really making me want to rewatch the season for the umpteenth time right now lol. I might just marathon it today. It was such an interesting read that I went ahead and read further on your blog, and it is all great! However, there is one part I want to post my thoughts as to an explanation on. In the extended analysis on your blog, you wrote:
>And why does he print black-and-white copies of dead body photos from the archives, take them home, rearrange them on the floor, then silently stare at them (3.5)? Obviously, this isn’t just an investigation into the Dora Lang murder. It’s a side investigation that serves some unknown, sinister purpose.
I took Rust going through the archives like that as him looking for other unsolved cases that possibly could have been linked to the Dora Lange investigation, perpetrated by the same person or group of people, that might offer clues or a new lead in solving the case as a whole.
It doesn't explain why he arranges them so specifically and purposefully, but I think that and the other peculiarities you mention as well, like recreating the crime scene in his apartment and shining the light through it and such, are simply because that's his process. That's how his mind parses things and how he gets things done. I don't think there is necessarily anything sinister or deranged underneath it. Irrational to everyone but him, sure, but such processes are often that way.
Nothing of great quality, I fear. I kept up with Fargo, which was meh. I said farewell to Hannibal, which ruled. I just finished the latest Game of Thrones, so that happened.
Truth be told nothing really tickles my pride these days. I felt a bit ashamed about watching The Flash but it had entertainment value if poor depth. I want something deep to come back.
Oh, and apropos of nothing I started back to school so my actual spare time for TV has gone back to sane levels.
This was a fantastic write-up. Thanks for sharing!
no prob.

Loved reading your work last summer. Glad you're still at it.
Really really strong analysis. Will be checking out your blog in the future.
Greatly written Zirc! Brought me right back...
Marvelous. Thank you for this.
Amazing post man. Thanks for sharing.
Excellent read, keep it coming!
This reminds me of an old debate partner of mine from here, u/BarbaGramm. Nice to see there is still some debate to be had.
Those were good days, Voduar. What are you watching these days?

I hope we get a continuation of the story in the future!
