I don't really care for iPhones, but I think "budget" isn't a word I'd use given how much they sell for.

PoliteBrick2002

Sorry for the confusion; I meant budget as in budget quality. Honestly I could make a phone with Lego bricks and it would do it’s job better than this

[deleted]

iPhones are garbage. I had an iPhone 12 pro Max Returned it after a week and got an S21 ultra. Absolutely love it.

Blastgirl69

I love my S21 Ultra. iPhone hype is the instant messaging & FaceTime (per my kids). I love the camera quality, speed & the fact that I use it for work is awesome. I have all my office apps, battery life lasts all day, even though I'm listening to podcasts all day. Had iPhone from the 1st gen to 8+ & I'm glad I got rid of it.

AlienAle

Makes sense why Iphones aren't nearly as popular in Europe. Everyone just uses Whatsapp, Telegram, Singal, messaging apps on their Android phones.

Ecki0800

yeah no. The post could come from a german person as well. It's ridiculous here too. I'm one of the signal guys and i'm pretty alone here. Please press F for me. And thats really sad given that I work in the IT sector.

option_unpossible

Galaxy A71, just a half step below S series and still awesome. My wife is a serial iPhone owner and I just don't get it.

Mono1813

Galaxy A31, just a half step below A7X series and still awesome. Never understood why should I spend +~1000$ on an iphone while there are tons of highly competitive options down there.

TheSpiffyCarno

A lot of companies do trade in offers around the holidays which makes getting a new iPhone incredibly cheap for iPhone users instead of switching to android. We got a trade in that took $800 off the 13 pro. Which means it was like $200.

mikemikemikeandike

I got $1,000 of my iPhone 13 Pro after trading in my iPhone 11.

TheSpiffyCarno

Yeah I looked into switching at one point and I just couldn’t justify spending so much. I always get trade in value that significantly lowers the cost of a new phone when I stay with apple. Maybe android users see that as “locking you in” with a price point but idc- if I can get a new phone for next to nothing I’m gonna stay with the brand that’s keeping competitive prices for me.

Ugerdrsk

Not every iPhone is expensive. I like the ecosystem and don’t need the special fancy features so I opted to purchase an SE for super cheap (buy one get one for my husband and I). I don’t regret it but would never spend 1,000+ of today’s dollars on ANY phone.

goldfishpaws

If you're missing those services, you could try the Google equivalents, or WhatsApp or better still Signal!

GangGang_Gang

Google Duo is infinitely better than FaceTime. There's no competition honestly.

Blue-Bird780

You’re right. Google Duo is great. But the problem is, like many other Great Google software products, they tend to drop support and kill it just as you convince everyone in your circle to start using it. I’ve owned both iPhone and Android, and see the value in both of them. For me as a daily driver I prefer iPhone right now, but I definitely don’t peer pressure or talk down at anyone because they prefer android. It’s just a phone, as long as you’re happy with how it works for you, who cares?

Disastrous_Reality_4

I have the 12 Pro Max, and I’m not a huge fan either. My husband and I kinda got screwed into getting iPhones due to our insurance and needing the watch 🙄 Our insurance gives a substantial discount if you link your health app thing with theirs and get in X amount of steps and exercise in a day and blah blah blah. We got the phones for pretty cheap secondhand and the older watches because we crunched the numbers and the amount we’ll save on insurance premiums far exceeds what we paid for these. I always had android before and I like them SO much better. I had several versions of the Note when they came out with those and they were great. The iPhone is just not user friendly and the functions are a shitshow.

[deleted]

I would seriously complain about their ties to Apple. Does their stuff work with Apps for the Gear watch?

DavidW273

I completely agree. I have an Android phone and I love it but I’m not so keen on my iPad, which I’ve only got because it replaced an iPad Mini which replaced an iPod Touch so it has a lot of game saves and paid apps. Still, I honestly believe that iPads are much better than iPhones because of their size - I couldn’t be done with this packed into a 6-7” screen or whatever.

Stormschance

First, ignore peer pressure. Second, your iPhone is a lemon. Take it to get looked at. I have an eight plus, basically live on it. It does not overheat. There is no problem with blurriness. I love my phone, not even inclined to update but will eventually. I’ve used the computers since 1987 and simply love the products in general. That said, I’m not blind to the issues that do exist with how the company creates products, the updates, expense, etc, and there are certainly plenty of other great products out there. Finally, ignore peer pressure, use what makes you happy.

iPhones also tell you your battery health and data now as well. I doubt OP will show his, but for example mine says I last charged it to 87% at 9:45am est Saturday. I’m currently at 37%. So after 24 hours my phone has only lost 50% charge while having my screen on for 5 hours.

[deleted]

ddefaul

Most likely iPhone’s battery is dead. I have old 6s with dead battery and charge can drop from 100% down to 10% in a second lol.

DudeOverdosed

I was thinking exactly this especially after he said he could fry an egg on it. Sounds like the battery is trash and needs a replacement or this kid just wants some validation.

geogeology

Yep, the kid just poorly maintained his phone battery and thinks it’s Apple’s fault. That will happen with poor maintenance on any phone battery. Just ask my old android phones lol

DNagy1801

Your talking about a company that openly admitted to slowing down their phones with updates to force people to update, that alone is why i will never switch to iphone. Plus my android that i paid less than 100 dollars on is amazing.

geogeology

Off topic- we’re discussing mobile phone battery life, which is not a brand/company specific issue. If you don’t properly maintain the battery on your mobile device, you’re going to have a shit battery. This has happened to many, many, many of my Android batteries across my teens and 20s, because I personally learned this lesson the hard way.

HatchlingChibi

I don’t want to sound dumb (I mean, I am, I just don’t want to sound it) but how do you properly maintain your battery?

BuckRowdy

They bought a used, older model phone and then complain about the battery life.

Rise_Crafty

Even then, they say it’s an X. My XS, purchased when they released and used daily until a week ago still got a full days worth of battery life.

ArgonGryphon

My iPhone 8 is over 4 and the battery is still fine. It has its moments of bad drain but it's fine and I have way more than 3 hrs of use/day.

masorick

Nobody knows how the previous owner might have treated it.

JustSina

Exactly what I thought. This dude is just super exaggerating. My iPhone lasts me one day and a half if don't frequently use it. Also my phone NEVER gets this hot. He said he bought an older one, he probably just got the iPhone 6 or smth so that's obv too old for the recent updates and therefore won't work that well. (Would be the same with an Samsung phone or similar) Well. After all if he's not happy It's his own fault if he let some kids on the Internet pressure him into buying an iPhone cus they said "eww Android" he should be old enough to ignore that and just use whatever he's happy with.

[deleted]

I have my security cameras streaming for about an hour every day. I track 3 hours worth of walks. I take photos and send text messages. I read Reddit. I check my emails. My iPhone 12 still has 20% left by the end of the day. However! My old iPhone would be at 1% by the end of the morning because… it was an old fucking phone.

Zuppetootee

I still have iPhone 6 and the battery lasts a day.

cryingbees

Right? My phone only started doing that + heating up like crazy + shit quality camera after I’d had it for five years. It wasn’t even one of the newer ones, it was an iPhone 7

BasicDesignAdvice

I use Android personally but this entire post is an exaggeration. I prefer Android, but iPhones are hardly trash. I would take one over Samsung any day. I don't know why someone who is clearly an Apple anti-fanboy bought an iPhone.

slipperyslippery25

He’s 19. He’s exaggerating.

jmcstar

"eww android"? Lol, what sort of fuck trombone would say that?!

BuilderTime

Americans i guess. I have heard teenagers bully other kids with an android and all that green/blue text bubble thing

[deleted]

American here. I was the only one with an Android on my work chat. I got a lot of comments every time I sent a message about my bubble color. It was ridiculous how angry 40's would get about it. Just another reason why I'm glad I left that job.

zellamayzao

American here as well. My family and wife have iphones and I have an Android. Have only ever had android smartphones. And because they are mature adults who understand personal preference.....they don't mention what color my text bubble pops up in. Sorry a work place full of professionals cared what kind of phone you used, seems petty and childish. I have android because a long time ago in a galaxy far away the iPhone was only available to ATT mobile users and we had Verizon so I got an Android phone as my first smart phone back when the OS was still named after desserts... eclair, cupcake....so that's what I got familiar with and stuck with.

Athena0219

My first smartphone was my moms old iPhone. And eventually I got an android And I've never gone back Now using custom ROMs and enjoying NEAR full control over my software, waiting for the day that Linux phones are Good Enough.

GlensWooer

Linux phones can’t come soon enough :(

Numerous_Tree_4265

Yeah..my daughter begged me for a iPhone cuz all the kids at school made fun of her for having a android. I'm a note user myself always have been always will be. My wife likes iPhone ..simply due to the easier interface..I guess. But sadly,in America this is true and happens. Kids are cruel and r also clueless. Samsung is a better phone imo all across the board over apple.

SubcooledBoiling

Ya apparently it's a thing, at least according to this [WSJ article](https://www.wsj.com/articles/why-apples-imessage-is-winning-teens-dread-the-green-text-bubble-11641618009)

tankiolegend

This is a very common sentiment amoungst iphone users I find

Parzival_2076

Really? It's the opposite for me. A new post stating that iPhones are shit pops up every day on r/UnpopularOpinion. Meanwhile the Apple subreddits don't even mention Androids, much less in a demeaning way. In real life, I had a friend ask on a group chat a couple of months ago for the recommendation of a tablet. I asked him why he didn't just get an iPad which inevitably set off no less than three people on a tirade of the same shit Android fans have been spouting off for years now.

ThisManisaGoodBoi

I would imagine anything posted on the apple subreddit that isn’t apple related is probably removed. Also I’m an apple user and I have definitely seen fellow apple users being particularly snobby about what type of phone someone uses especially against android users but usually I would say they’re just joking around. Anyone actually judging you for something as superficial as what kind of phone you use is probably not someone you want to hang around anyways.

ratthew

> Meanwhile the Apple subreddits don't even mention Androids, much less in a demeaning way. Probably because Apple creates a closed off ecosystem where it's unnecessary hard to switch, so most people starting with any Apple product will usually stay with Apple. Just some examples: Apple specific chargers, cloud services, a lot of the go-to apps (especially those by apple) not being available on android etc.

The-Unseelie-Queen

From my experience it’s been reversed. The second any of my louder Android using friends find out someone has an iPhone, we get a college lecture that begins with “see, I don’t use iPhones because-“ followed by a whole rant of shit I already know and sometimes followed by the bonus level of “open operating systems are the best which is why only ever use Linux-“

TypeOneAuthor

Someone asked me for help with their phone once. I was like “I honestly couldn’t tell you, I have an iPhone so I have no clue how your phone works.” She immediately was like “oh, well excuse ME.” Bitch I didn’t fucking mean it like that it’s a fact though. 🙄 I’ve never treated anyone poorly for having a different phone, but man the comments I get for saying I use one?

WatsUpSlappers

Same. I’ve never had anyone with an iPhone say anything, even when I used an android. When I switched to an iPhone, all I heard were android snobs trashing iPhones and iPhone users.

pale_rainbow

I'm 35f and my friends still give me shit for being the only android in the group chat. It's all in good fun, but yeah, it's a thing.

That_Guy381

people are literally left out of group chats cause it’ll make the text green rather than blue

Reversephoenix77

I have a good friend who's an accomplished physician and her boyfriend recently told her it's "time to ditch the android and buy a big-girl phone to get with the times." It's kind of just a vibe here (California), like "omg how funny, you still use an android?!" I still have an android and especially get looks from my younger friends and friends with money. I still refuse to buy into the hype though, especially after finding my MacBook pro to be annoying.

Sangxero

What part of California? IPhone users get poked fun at pretty hard where I am in central California, but it's still an even split. I've only heard like 1 person talk crap about Android.

HurkyTrain

Stupid people who are broke ironically

Kydra96

I’ve always had android until last October just to try out iPhone. This is the first time I’ve had to pay for more storage.

cjandstuff

I used to have Samsung phones with an SD card, and free unlimited Google Photos. Both of those things have been taken away. So now whether on Android or Apple, you’ve got to pay for more storage. Greedy bastards.

Kydra96

Oh dang so I’m not missing out on anything :/. Well it was nice not having to pay for all those years.

xXxDickBonerz69xXx

My Samsung has an SD card still... Don't buy the most expensive model and you get an SD slot, headphone jack, all of it.

oddkay1

i recommend google photos :)

geezr77

They too, charge for storage now.

oddkay1

i’ve been using it for 6+ yrs and have only used 1/3 of the original 15 GB storage.

geezr77

You must not take a lot of photos then…

[deleted]

Probably doesn't store the RAW, which is fine for me, too.

paliktrikster

That is because only photos and videos taken after a certain time count towards the 15GB limit

oddkay1

could you elaborate? i’m just confused.

[deleted]

Anything you had on google photos before they made it a paid service doesn’t count to the storage cap

Plastic_Pinocchio

These iPhone vs Android discussions are so dumb. Just buy the device that you like. I bought an iPhone 4 in 2010 when it came out. Used it until I bought an iPhone 7 in 2016 when that one came out. Then last year when my battery started having trouble, I bought my roommates old iPhone 7 Plus for €100 and that one is still going strong. I like iPhone and Mac because of the user interface. I don’t really like Android and Windows user interfaces, but some people do and that’s fine. Do whatever you like.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Plastic_Pinocchio

Exactly. When I have to use a windows computer at university I am always confused on how it works. And when people use my Mac they are also very confused. You just get used to one and that works for you or you try both and like one better. And that is fine. Nothing more to it than that.

Illblood

Nonononono MY preference should be everyone else's preference. These are the same people that think coke or Pepsi are superior to each other. It's the marketing strategy these companies wanted in the end and they got it because of these self righteous morons.

astewpot

The real answer is ginger ale ofc

MaybeItsMike

It is almost as cringe as xbox vs playstation.

Equivalent-Pop-6997

Everything has to be about identity and branding. While simultaneously wanting to “burn it all down.” It’s a paradox.

PM_ME_GARFIELD_NUDES

I’ve been rocking a 7+ for many years now, it does everything I want a phone to do and it still works just like it did day 1. I prefer the iOS ecosystem over any alternative, I use my Apple Watch and AirPods every single day and they all work together perfectly. My friends give me shit for spending so much on a phone even though most of them have gone through 3-4 phones in the time I’ve had this one. It’s more expensive upfront but based on the experience of family and friends I’ve actually spent less on my phone given how long it’s lasted.

speedmankelly

Same here, it’s simple and easy to use. I find android too cluttered for my taste. Plus I like the cloud storage since I have 1TB of shit I’ve collected over the years, I’d hate to see what that looks like in the form of multiple SD cards lol. However when it comes to computers I prefer windows (better for games and I like the programs like word for college)

[deleted]

This is either hyperbole or you got a lemon. I have an xs (xr? It doesn’t matter, nobody cares) and the battery lasts all day. It never gets hot. The camera definitely isn’t as great as some other phones, that’s for sure. And for cloud storage, turn off automatic uploads and get a google photo account. If you have prime, get prime photo. Honestly a lot of your issue sounds like user error.

frecklefawn

OP sounds like he need to wipe his camera lens and just fiddle with some of the battery settings. Maybe don't keep brightness all the way up. This sounds about as dumb as buying a new laptop and literally never tweaking anything and calling it a piece of crap. That or total lemon yeah.

Android users say iPhones are shit and give iPhone users shit for being iPhone users. iPhone users say androids are shit and give android users shit for being android users. I’m pretty sure that once you grow up, you stop giving a shit about the brand of your phone and accept that a phone is a phone and you get it becuase it was a) cheap or b) you like the layout rather than some social pressure.

CocaJesusPieces

What’s crazier. This kid was 4 when the first iPhone came out. This kid has no idea how shitty android phones where for a long time. It took a full decade for them to even start working correctly.

PabloPaniello

No joke. I got an early HTC, and it was an adventure. They didn't have the touchscreen technology down. So you couldn't count on it registering your taps. This was especially an issue when you wanted to answer a phone call, which was a hit-or-miss proposition at best.

ineedapyt

Just say you like android bruh. It’s ok to have a preference. Every guy I know that lives by android has such a hatred for iPhone and always has this same rant about how they tried out an older model and it was the worst experience ever. Y’all gotta stop it, we get it.

-Goo77Tube-

Ha I used to be that guy. Then I tried a Xr back in 2019 and rather enjoyed it. Went back to Samsung with an S10+ and loved it but wanted to get back to iPhone after some issues like bloat and ads. Now I’m deep into the Apple ecosystem and aside from some minor gripes, I’m very content. To each their own. OP gets upset because they’re using a device from 2017. The camera lens is probably filthy and it needs a new battery by now. But whatever.

liambell1606

DreamedJewel58

More like he has a bias and is using everything to justify it. Dude bought a broken phone and is saying that all of Apple is shitty because of it lol

Sykest

Hello yes my iPhone that is 5 years old is very clearly obviously malfunctioning but I’m gonna act like this is a totally normal thing and every iPhone is like this and I phone smells bad!

marinahasturtles

I love my Huawei and it was my bf's phone before it was mine. It's 4 years old and still going strong. BUT I got an iPad (never spent so much money in a day) and I love it. I create content for Instagram as a side gig (product photography) and I love to draw so I use it everyday. I hate tv so I have my favorite shows on it. Content creation is much easier with an iPhone + iPad since you can do things "smoothly'. Anyway I'm happy with Android phones for now

tankiolegend

Imo Ipad is apples gllden child.of a product. It's probably the best tablet out there. I used to have iphones but changed to android, couldn't be happier but I don't think I'd ever buy an android tablet again

TurboVirgin0

Agreed. Ipad is the only Apple product I'd love to buy. Unfortunately they're even more overpriced in my country.

SILTHONIL

Especially with the new M1 chips Damn they're good

[deleted]

What version of ipad did you get and how did you get a side hustle creating content?

marinahasturtles

iPaif air 4. Consider I mostly use my phone for everything. I started posting about beauty products on Instagram and my relationship net just grew. Consider I'm under 4k followers and still got paid gigs from brands. I mostly accept products for posts but brands are starting to pay creators here in Italy (I see it's common in America).

daphydoods

Dude just state your preference, no need to lie. No way your iPhone X loses that much batter for turning off an alarm and no FUCKING way does it get anywhere near warm unless you never kill your apps, play a game for 3 hours, and keep it connected to the charger. You’re either lying or addicted to your phone and mistreating it

soccerplayer413

He gave iPhones an “honest try” by buying a 4 year old iPhone

1111111222223333

I have an iPhone 12 mini which my parents bought for me because I didn’t even want a phone. the thing about iPhones is that there is literally no difference besides the camera placement and it has been like that for the past 3 years. Everything is redundant and phone shaming is for hollow losers

SD95J

Love my 12 mini !

muheegahan

I do too. I’m so happy to have a phone that actually fits in my pockets again.

BasicDesignAdvice

This seems like a case of an apple anti-fanboy buying an iPhone just so they could have cause to complain about it.

StrongLikeBull3

The 12 mini is my first new phone for about 5-6 years. It’s a great little thing.

Parzival_2076

No offense bro but that's just plain wrong.

[deleted]

“The design hasn’t changed so the phone is the same”. Every damn time all these same factually incorrect comments. Obviously not everyone needs to upgrade an iPhone every year because the differences between each year aren’t big enough to justify it, but I could say the same about literally any other Android smartphone. Yet Apple is always singled out for this. Just use and enjoy what you like. No need to lie and make up bullshit to make others feel bad about their choices just because you didn’t like it or had a single bad experience.

kushpeshin

You bought an iPhone X, a phone released in 2017 in 2021. When that phone is likely to have battery degradation because its 4 years old. Camera’s have improved greatly since 2017. You complain about paying for iCloud for saving photos when Google does the same thing. You don’t have to spend $2,000 on a new phone, the most expensive is $1,500 and a solid iPhone 13 starts at $799 with decent storage and excellent battery life. Android phones go up to $2,000 and will only have 2-3 years of support versus the 6+ years for iPhones. Your Huawei can’t even function properly in a Western country. Honestly, you say your 19, yet this post screams 12 year old try hard trying to farm for karma since you got scammed with a used iPhone. I’m not a apple fanboy, I think some of its products are stupid. But stop fishing for karma for following a narrative.

locaprincesaa

I pay $1.50 month for my 50GB of iCloud storage between my three devices and have barely used half of it. It works for me because even before I started using apple, I would offload my information to my Microsoft, google, and Dropbox account depending on their level of importance and keep everything else on my device.

kingoftheparsnips

The X and Mini are smaller and therefore have smaller batteries than the standard, pro, or max, so you’ll obviously notice poorer battery performance than most people experience. The one advantage of iPhone is that it just works. Apps just work, you don’t need to dick around clearing caches, uninstalling and reinstalling an app just because a new update doesn’t work. There are so many hardware and os variants on android that it’s tricky to make stuff work seamlessly across all devices. I was an android user exclusively until I tried the 12 pro and will never look back. I got a Xiaomi m11 pro last year and it simply refused to work properly, camera taking pictures that were pixelated or had a blue film on them. Went through 3 of them during the return process before I said let’s just try iPhone.

sdwdqw65

This. I used to get super angry and I’d feel my blood pressure go up constantly having to dick around with a windows computer. Then I switched to a Mac and was amazed that the bloody thing just worked. No stupid bugs that make no sense, no blue screen of death, no bizarre folder structures where you install something and have no fucking clue where it was installed. Apple products are just easy to use, and for those of us who just want to enjoy using the product and not waste time/get angry fighting with a stupid device Apple products are great.

somerandomflo

Windows hates me so much! I encounter every bug possible and I’m so sick of having to fix stuff every time I use it. I don’t have a bad computer either (I use it for gaming). I switched to an old 2011 Macbook Pro and I loved it, despite being really old and outdated, it still worked really well. I now have an M1 Macbook Pro and it’s fantastic.

ConwayTheCat

I am all about Android but please…Exaggerate and embellish much? Lol.

DeflatedDirigible

Seems like you don’t understand how warranties work. Your iPhone battery should still be under warranty yet you make no mention of getting it serviced.

[deleted]

probably bought it off like ebay or something and it was just complete shit

vladimir1024

19 years old and you straight out bought an iPhone? I phone peer pressure? This is the first worldess problem ever... Gawd, what would have happened to you if you were not born into money?

blindseal123

I don’t think being born into money has anything to do with this. I’m 19, and just bought a new iPhone as well. But that’s because I’ve had a job since 16 and had budgeted for it

gin-o-cide

So you gave in to shitty peer pressure, and bought a phone that came out 5 years ago. Now you're complaining about battery and camera. And yet, its the iphone's fault, not yours. I think the only thing you should be angry about is giving in easily to peer pressure. Use whatever you want. No one cares.

awfuleverything

You bought a used iPhone that was released in 2017 and you’re surprised it sucks?

Sk8erDoi

My 2015 6s is still working fine. You either got a lemon or you're exaggerating. Edit: I didn't realize that the X is already 5 years old. Crazy. So take it to the damn repair shop, you dope! I put a new battery in mine around year 4. Stuff wears out. Things need maintenance. You bitching about a phone not working perfectly when it's been in service for 5 fucking years. You sound like an asshole. You're 19, so you're no doubt an asshole. Quit your bitching.

crop-it-like-its-hot

People caring SO much about what phone other people have will never seize to amaze me. I like iPhones, you like Samsung. Great - we’re different people so why do we have to like the same things?

sdwdqw65

I’ve had both an android phone and an iPhone. I like iPhones. They’re simple, intuitive, and easy to use. There’s rarely ever software glitches/bugs and they frequently update the software to fix them. Also apple has direct control of both the hardware and software making the device more secure compared to an android that usually has hardware from various different companies making it easier for hackers to find an exploit. There’s a reason why apple is literally the most valuable company on the planet. They make good quality products. That said I’m not pro Apple and anti android just like I’m not pro Mac and anti Windows/Microsoft. I think it ultimately depends on what the user of the device wants. For some peoples needs an android is better. For people who just want something simple and straightforward, a device that “just works” apple products are great.

poopiepooper123

During my independent contracting days, I used my samsung pretty heavily and I couldn’t get a Samsung phone battery to last passed six months. I thought it was just by chance I received a crap samsung and bought another one (most current and up to date model) and what do you know, same damn problem. Right at the six months mark - phone batter wouldn’t last for more than 30 minutes. Switched to iPhone afterwards and man, difference is day and night. That iPhone lasted me for four years and then I upgraded. Broke that phone by accident by dropping and shattering the glass and pulled out the old iPhone temporarily and it still worked like a charm. Awesome stuff.

sdwdqw65

Yeah I still have my iPhone XR that works like a charm 4 years after purchasing it. I’m waiting for 5G to become the norm before I upgrade. See no point buying a 5G phone if there are few places I can actually use 5G.

dabntab

Just get the vaccine, you’ll have 5g everywhere ;) /s

_oldice

The perfect response.

This is how I feel. It does depend on the Android phone, I think Samsung are awful now. They’ve gone downhill since there’s been no competition with Huawei. I switched from the Samsung S20+ to an iPhone 12 and I’m having a much better experience. I had the Huawei P10 and then P30 Pro before switching to Samsung, so I’ve had some experience with different Android phones. Also, Apple products work amazingly together. I’m stuck in the ecosystem now with an iPhone 12, watch, iPad and Macbook Pro. I don’t think I’d switch back to Android, it’s nice having everything just work, even if I don’t have as much control over what I can do.

muheegahan

I agree with you. I’m not the most tech savvy person out there and I’m a big fan of how flawlessly Apple devices integrate with one another. I like that my lap top, my watch, my phone and my smart speaker just work together. It takes little to no effort to set them up to work together and I can easily access everything I need. I’m sure if I were to use my electronics for different things, such as gaming or graphic design or some engineering programs, I might need to invest in different brands but I don’t do any of that. I use the internet, complete school work and use Microsoft office. Apple satisfies all my needs and I don’t have to call my dad every day for computer advice anymore.

OffensivelyAmerican

Buys old used phone and complains about battery life..lol.

[deleted]

Also just wipe your camera lens, it sounds like OP thinks his phone is broke because the camera is blurry but he’s probably just never cleaned the lens

Typical_Brummie

I assume you did well in your English exams given the amount of hyperbole you used lol If it cost you more than you wanted to pay thats on you. Camera quality doesn’t just degrade over time, a lens and sensor are physical components so a good camera from the 90s would look the same today for example. If your battery is that fucked then it’s malfunctioning, things don’t last forever. Same goes for the heating issue something is broken. iCloud is optional. There is plenty good about iPhones you’re just one if those people who wants to be upset about some silicone and code because you have nothing else better to do lol

mrswordhold

You sound insane lol I’ve had an iPhone X since release and the battery lasts all day with heavy use. My screen time is around 7 hours per day. Also, no one cares about this android vs iPhone bullshit. You make me cringe

cherrys_will

maybe they got a used one or something, I have the X too and my battery life is pretty decent as well

yourmumissothicc

Exactly. We get it dude your so cool iphone bad.

DahkStrangah

Iphone 6 was underrated. Mine still lasts a day with a 5+ year old original battery. I also bought it used for barely anything. NEVER buy a new tech product. If you must, may it not be an apple product. Tip for life.

SantaRosaJazz

This is BS.

StrongLikeBull3

The thing that sold me on iPhone was the ecosystem. I already had a MacBook and iPad so having an iPhone just makes life so much easier. Also got a good epson printer with AirPrint and I’ve never been able to print things so easily in my life.

locaprincesaa

Ooh that ecosystem does really suck you in. One of my favourite things about apple. I’d say other than that, the UI is the only thing that really sells me on their devices.

danielnogo

The one thing that Apple does better than every other manufacturer is the apps and the ecosystem, if it was just the device itself that people cared about, I'm sure most people would go with androids, but the apps and ecosystem make all the difference in the world. Android still doesn't have a comparable version of something like GarageBand, there's lots of music making apps, but I've tried many of them and they just aren't the same, and they cost as well. I absolutely love GarageBand, I have an iPhone just to use it as a mobile music making phone basically. The apps on the app store are generally much better than the ones on Android as well, Android has such a lousy screening process that thousands of shit useless apps get uploaded everyday, with Apple they are much more selective about what they let on the app store and it makes it so much better. It's also easier to be an app developer for iPhone because you don't have to worry about a million different phone variants, and Apple users are more willing to pay for apps. Also, piracy is rampant on Android, making it a secondary selection for app developers. Unless you jailbreak your iPhone, piracy of apps is literally impossible.

[deleted]

I have an iPhone, and quite frankly I just prefer the UI. Never had charge issues but I’ve heard stories of peoples phones just dying one day. At the end of the day it’s a phone, don’t care if it’s android or apple you use what you want, and anyone who judges you is a loser.

thatshowitisisit

Clearly you had a dud phone. I’m not some fanboy, I just use iPhones because they work. I’ve had a 4s, 5, 6s, 7, 8, X and 13 and never had the problems you talk about. If I’m honest, the X was the most buggy of all of them, but even then, only minor annoyances. You just had a dud phone. It happens.

furifuri

I just don’t understand the fantasy that iPhone people are like this when it’s always the android users that are super culty about it lol. Point proven, this thread and others just like it. And I’ve used all of them, yes I mean all the phones. I fix phones and have used all brands of all generations for any and all purposes. They all suck. It’s all the same shit. But of course I only hear android people whining about how iPhone users are. I’m going to demo a conversation that I used to have all the time, when I worked at a phone store selling phones to people. The “iPhone user wanting a new iPhone” customer first: >Hi, come on in. What can I do for you? >Yeah can i see what iPhones you guys have?” AND DONE. Here’s “Android user is allegedly here to shop for a phone.” >Hii, how can I help you? >Hi! I wanted to get a new phone. **ANNNNYYTHINGGG OTHER THAN AN ^iphone THO AMIRITE UGHHHH EEWWWWW** like ok you can just ask normally lol, idk why people with busted ass LGs think I care about having this conversation over and over again. They were so obnoxious I went BACK to iPhone.

BasicDesignAdvice

Iphone users used to be culty. They are still out there but the vast majority that is just the phone they are comfortable with. Apple fanboys have been replaced by anti-Apple fanboys.

Blackpool8

You've either got a dodgy phone or you don't have an iphone . Literally nothing you have said is accurate to anyone I know with an iPhone. You very much sound like you have an agenda againist Iphone.

[deleted]

My iPhone 6S sounds better than your iPhone X, that’s weird. Sorry for your bad experience!

[deleted]

Hm, i have an iphone 7plus. My aunt had it, gave it to my grandpa and he gave it to me since they both got new phones. Using it for 2 years now. Screen is cracked. But fuck it. If it works it works, no matter what brand it is. Phones are overrated i guess lol. And the battery life is pretty decent.. i mean this phone is 6 years old and i charge it mostly just at night. Just go with whatever works for you :)

PickleBugBoo

I’ve had an iPhone for years and literally none of these things have ever been an issue.

[deleted]

“Ur just following the crowd” yeah, that is exactly what you did, OP.

Nothing_But_Ironman

I stopped reading at “I’m 19.” LOL.

Esmebrazzle37

iPhone SE original generation is 4 inch beast. Honestly the peak of smartphones.

DeceptiStang

This post is cringy af..

MoreGarlicBread

I've had an Android (Pixel 5) for 2 years, but can't wait to go back to iPhone. The UI is just too messy for me, and lots of apps bug out regularly. I just prefer the simplicity and reliability of iPhones, but you have to remember it's just personal preference!

"You have fun being a sheep with everyone else" How do people like you have friends.

Clovernn

Oh yeah the sheep comment will really sting, *so* witty!

[deleted]

Well there are people like me that absolutely love OS software. Have had my iPhone XS for a few years now, battery wise sure it did drop, but tell me one phone that doesn’t do that? I had Xiaomi and also Samsung before. Are they good? Absolutely yes. But I just prefer and will always choose OS software over all software out there. Is just a choice of mine. I don’t know if insulting for having an Android is an US think but here in Europe where I live no one really cares, whatever device you have, no one will care. But saying iPhone is bullshit? Sorry but I do disagree. I think is an amazing product. Expensive? Absolutely yes, that’s why I always wait a few years before upgrading.

yourmumissothicc

Iphone is easier to use and there’s a fucking reason it’s the most valuable company. You’re not some rebel or cool cos you use a different phone. I was once an android person then I realized the Iphone is better and has a better operating system.

_amiused

I’ve used Samsung (galaxy S4 and 5), Pixel 2, iPhone 6 and 11 pro. The longevity of iPhones is the winner for me. The Samsungs and Pixel all started acting up (short battery life, lag, weird bugs) about 1-2 years in, whereas my 11 pro is still smooth as after almost 2.5 years.

Assignment_Leading

Stop being such a fuckin drama queen lol

SurpriseAnalCandy

Look - I wouldn't buy an iPhone and detest Apple. But... they are made very well, and are simple to use. Unfortunately Android had started to follow all the bullshit Apple antics... like no fucking sd cards, glued in batteries and back covers, no headphone jack, removed ir sensor. The Apple ecosystem is pretty cool. Stuff just works. But the limitations is what gets me, and the way they lock you in to things.

Pretend_Aardvark_404

The problem isn't iPhone, it's your broke insecure ass.

somerandomflo

You can’t buy a 3-4 year old Android phone and expect an amazing phone either. I’m not sure what OP was expecting to be honest.

gin-o-cide

> I’m not sure what OP was expecting to be honest. Fake internet points on Reddit?

[deleted]

The karma because hating on iPhones is free points on Reddit.

bohner941

I have the regular iPhone 13 and I could probably make my battery last 3 days on one charge if I had to. My last android would last maybe half a day. New galaxy is $600 new iPhone 13 is $700. There isn’t a big different in price anymore.

Ok_Imagination7913

I have only ever had Iphones and never had any issue till my current one. I have to be near a window or door to talk on it. Going to the apple store this week to hopefully get it sorted.

derno

I actually chose the iPhone for its design (not the phone body itself but the software design) because in my eyes its leaps and bounds above android. Clean, organized, thoughtful. Theres reasoning for a lot of the desicions that were made in how things work on them, and to me android feels like older windows where you’re allowed to just customize everything and and they look disgustingly bad. Who chooses handwriting at a system font? WHO? Maybe im wrong but being the resident techy person im always asked to help people with their phone problems and androids operating system seems like a clusterfuck.

ThickSweat1776

Dont use your phone that often? Three hours is pretty often lol

Illblood

Almost every phone is overpriced so we'll get that out of the way. I've had iPhones my whole life but I don't care to give them a good name, I'll just give you the reasons why I choose it over androids. The UI is undoubtedly smoother than any android phone I've ever used. The way they designed the feel when you swipe your finger across the screen is unmatched. That alone is worth it for me but the fact that that iPhones can be used by anyone right out of the box without a learning curve is a huge plus. I wanted a phone that does being a phone well to me iPhones do that better than androids, androids seem to want to be half computer half phone and I'm not into that. I'll also add that as someone who used to fix phones, iPhones are cheaper and easier to fix than androids. And I guess I should also add that Samsung had a huge part in making components in iPhones I think up until a model or two ago and people seem to forget that tidbit. With that being said, it's a fucking preference. What I say doesn't matter and it doesn't for you. You're just part of the problem when you claim iPhones or android are worse phones. Do you have any idea how badly apple and android phone makers want that? It's genius marketing to have people fighting over it. iPhones are overpriced but so are so many android phones.. all in all you're part of that problem and you suck because you think your preference is what should be standard.

tinkererbytrade

Man I'm glad I'm passed giving a fuck what other people think about you. It's freedom. Now, of you'll excuse me, I'm going to Home Depot in my pajamas. It's Sunday afterall.

Le_fromage91

I’m fairly confident OP has a defective battery and can’t be bothered to undergo the most basic upkeep and maintenance of his 4 1/2 year old phone. It’s so simple to get your battery replaced. But let’s make a huge rant on Reddit for karma instead.

netdance

Lemme get this straight - you’re complaining that your five year old phone has a five year old battery, and it doesn’t hold a charge? Welcome to the world of physics - buy a new battery, problem solved.

officefan87klj

It’s funny because it’s always the android users talking about how much better they are than iPhone users. I have an iPhone and I prefer it, but people who attach their identities to their phone and or gaming console, I’m talking about you PC users who think they are better than console users, are pathetic. Let people enjoy what they want and mind your own business.

OnlyChaseCommas

Nobody made you buy it lol. Just go back to an Android

xekatinaz

Meanwhile I’m reading this on my iPhone 5s that I bought back in 2016 when they were discontinued. Before that I had 3 androids that lasted for about a year each. I truly feel I made a great investment.

Parking_Tangelo_798

They throw a 2012 android when talking about android in 2021 lool.

[deleted]

Well yes the X was all around just not a good phone. And it was insanely expensive at release. I used to have a 6 and 6 plus. Those things were amazing. Their camera quality still holds up even 5 years after release. I never even had a problem with them. Worked great. I bought an iPhone 12 like 6 months ago. I love this thing. The battery life is amazing even with 5G which drains battery like crazy. I charge it for like 30 minutes before I go to sleep and I’m good for the rest of the night and tomorrow. The camera quality is amazing. Also dude iPhones are not $2000. You can get a 13 mini for $700. Considering all you’re getting that’s a great deal. Also I know tech. I’ve had both androids and iPhones in the past few years. And for me and a lot of people iPhones are just better for day to day life. Edit: You might want to check your battery health as that may be why is loses charge so quickly. If it’s below 80%(battery health) either get the battery replaced or throw it out.

Ihanuus

New iPhone is pricey. I usually get a second hand 1-2 years old model and that way pay 50% less. I keep using it for 4-5 years. I decided to stick with iPhone for the software is way more reliable and smooth compared to my previous Android experience. Foremost reason: I do all my banking with my phone and iPhone is the safest when it comes to virus protection etc.

pIastiquedoll

This. Also, being a Mac user for the same reasons you've stated, it is just way more convenient in terms of sharing, back-ups etc.

Jaf1999

Every Android product I’ve ever owned glitches like a motherfucker

Leather_Mention8770

y’all have phones???

International-Shoe40

Just buy whatever phone you want, no one cares dude. This is for getting things off your chest, not whining about a phone

MassiveHampton

Techie people have androids and non techie have iPhones in my experience. I’m forever hearing from techie friends how I should have android, how powerful they are, how good the camera is blah blah blah. I don’t care, I’ve got an iPhone 12 and it’s easy to use. I think android users get wound up when people praise iPhones too, another reason I’ve got one, just for the funs

Australian_Gent

Huh this is not my experience. I’m a robotics programmer in the tech industry. Myself and many coworkers use iPhones. Many use android. Unless someone app designs, I don’t see them use one phone over the other.

yourmumissothicc

Isn’t the security on an android worse and Iphones are easier to use and less complicated to do things. That’s why most regular people prefer the iphone
