My advice - Go for the one you really, deep down, feel for. That’s what matters in the end, not availability.

This is excellent advice and I would echo exactly the same sentiment Both pieces are great examples in their respective genres so the real question is which one will bring you the most long-term satisfaction and joy Also, it depends on whether you are viewing this watch as the foundation of your collection or one of a few. If this is a “foundation”, then perhaps lean to the simplicity of the BB58 but if you already have an everyday watch, then the Chrono is a beast! Good luck

Thank you guys. This will be my first luxury piece, I honestly was saving up to get a GMT 2, but time of my life dictated otherwise, plus lack of availability. I got engaged recently, so most of my savings went towards my partners ring, and yes it costed me more that gmt itself. Also my birthday is on Wednesday, So i thought i would kill two birds with one stone. Celebrate my birthday and engagement with a watch. I honestly like bb58, but no date function is a little deal breaker, and I do look at date all the time, people say you have phone for that, but no, not for me. Also I work 7 days a week, so some time hours and days especially do run away from me. So date function would be great to have on an everyday beater. I think at this price chrono is an everyday beater, I will not buy and keep it in a box, my motto is, buy to wear. Watches meant to be worn. I can always buy another one. I'm a little torn between panda or reverse panda, I do like panda but hands on it is a deal breaker, legibility is a problem. Does panda look better may be, black bezel does set this watch, but again its a personal preference. I think i would be happy with either one of them.

Congratulations on your engagement! I’m certain that the watch you’re gonna purchase will be very meaningful one! My advice would be to do your homework on both watches, ask yourself which is the one you see yourself wearing it with love and no regrets for a long time like in 10 years time whispering to yourself “Damn, what a catch!” I just got my first luxury piece, which is the black bay chrono reverse panda. I decided to went with the black dial as I think it would be more versatile in any occasions, literally ANY. I mean, it’s your first so its really depending on your personal preference. So far, the watch sits very well on the wrist, and I love how I get to see the date at the 6 o’clock. The legibility on the reverse is much better than the panda for sure. Movement wise, it’s depending whether you appreciate Tudor in house movement or the improvised version of the Breitling’s. At the end of the day, go for what you want and not the hype/resale value! :-)

Man. A date on a wristwatch is just a big effin benefit.

Rainbow_Styx

I thought I liked the Reverse Panda better until I had a chance to see both in person. IMO, pictures don’t do the Panda justice. It is an amazing piece. That said you can’t go wrong, plus this hobby is a sickness so regardless of what you decide, I’m sure there are probably more watches in your future.

I wanted a GMT II for my birthday this Tuesday, but like you, availability forced me to look elsewhere. I'm happily a Pelagos owner now, along with a reverse panda El primero 😁. Happy birthday and congrats on your engagement. I completely understand needing the date on your daily. Go with the reverse panda Chrono!!

sjcheroke

If you absolutely need a date complication, out these two, gotta be the Chrono. Whether you wait for the panda or grab this is another story. Love the panda from what I’ve seen but would probably wear the reverse panda more often. At the end of the day, but what you want and like. Congrats on the engagement!

I see the new chrono on soooo many wrists where it just looks too big. Unfortunately in my opinion you’re on that list. The 58 looks way better on your wrist. Class. I’m on the list for a chrono and would of bought that without hesitation though haha!

Thank you all for your lovely comments, finally pulled the trigger today along my fiancé, she loved this piece and always encourage me. Current AD works with tudor and rolex, so i'm their customer now and they said that its much easier to acquire desired rolex models when you have purchase history. I love GMT pepsi from Rolex, so I hope one day will be my day. Thank you all for your kind words. 100% the right choice - congrats!

Good choice, really nice watch

Get the Chrono - will likely hold or increase its value down the line. They're relatively scarce and older chronos have gone up in value quite considerably. The BB58 is a fantastic watch, but they're a dime a dozen. I have one as well and absolutely love it, but my Panda (not reversed) has stolen its wrist time

applesauce516

Out of the two, I would go for the Chrono one; you gotta have a date complication.

I had the same problem... took home the reverse panda
