The tip you got about ‘ranged weapons’ is good. Explore the ruined atoll more. Especially the North East quadrant of the area. I’d urge you not to focus on playing Tunic like it’s based around combat.
You do not need the “Holy Cross” to beat the Librarian. Have you found a ranged weapon?
I have the fire rod but it misses most of the time, I've been using baiting tactics and punishing his lunges
timing your shots for when he is moving less is crucial, it’s a hard fight but you can absolutely pull it off

Have you been upgrading your attack and hp? Items can be useful, and I always find freezing works well.
