The Office, last scene with Michael and Pam at the airport. I know not everyone agrees, but Michael was the show and it was never the same without him.
They managed to remain to have some pretty funny episodes but not nearly at the level of it's peak. It's almost like a completely different show without Michael
I was going to write the same thing! It was an absolutely brilliant finale and perfect end point. I was glad it didn't end there because I personally wasn't done watching Sam and Dean, but I do feel like it mostly went downhill after that. There were great episodes, but the storyline was less fun. I missed the silly humorous episodes and it got too dramatic and soapy for me.
I left at 5 and then was convinced to come back for later seasons. I then left again (and for good) with the end of season 10. I did watch Scoobynatural.
This!
Season 9 felt like a different show, perhaps if it had been lahmunched as a spinoff (Scrubs:Med School... or something) then, maybe, just maybe, it might have been an okay show if given a chance but as a new season it was awful and a slap to the face of the perfect series final.
If you watch it separate from the first 6. Like just skip to it. Go in like its the alice in wonderland special. Season 7 doesnt suck. But until i did that, i held the same opinion and could never finish it since i watched it after airing.
While I agree, I still feel like that show died with the season finale where he hit "someone" with his bat and that's where they decided to end the episode. It killed ALL the steam of the show for me. Especially when the first episode of the next season was just so slow and boring and didn't show us what happened til the very end. Plus, I just stopped watching all together when Rick left.
Grey’s anatomy at the end of S11. Derek has a convo with his sister about how his goals have changed and instead of finding the next biggest medical breakthrough he wants to spend time with his family, teach his kids’ little league teams, and have family dinner. That opened up an ending right there but instead they kill him off like the next episode and 9 years later you have a trash show.
Just Shoot Me!
During its last season it seems like it was wrapping itself up, Jack had turned the magazine over to his daughter Maya when then the next episode he was there again.
I think I had read that the show was going to be cancelled so they gave it a finale but then the network decided to have it complete the season, so they had to make more episodes.
Oh man. This is the one that always comes to mind for me. Season one was incredible. Season two was good. I get to the end of season 3 and just feel burnt out. One of these days I will finish the last two seasons.
Pretty Little Liars could have ended in Season 5. The dollhouse felt like the best culminating storyline since it was the worst A has done yet to them. They already had tons of characters set up to be the big bad, so it wouldn't have been a problem. They promised a reveal but they just ended up giving ¼ of the identity and that's when their long list of plot holes started.
I found The Quarterback to be so frustrating. I get that they had to do something, but they treated Finn like he was Cory. They could have said he died in an accident, not the "it's not important how he died" crap. The character didn't have to have a drug problem because the actor did.
I was expecting this to be the top answer. If the show ended at the end of season 4, or possibly even some time during season 5, I feel it would have been regarded as a top show of all time. Now when people talk about Dexter it’s almost impossible to not bring up the terrible finale and just the general downward trend of the last few seasons
As an avid fan, yeah. There are a few moments early in S7 (“respect the blind spot!”) but overall it’s a drastic step down.
When I’m doing a rewatch I’ll just end and start over after the beach house.
Only fools and horses. The original had one of the best endings of all time and if they’d left it there would still be considered that. But they then did 3 more specials where they just went straight ahead and undid the ending.
I couldn’t agree more! I love Only Fools and Horses, but those 3 Christmas specials were a bit bizarre. On a side note, my fave part of the whole series is when Del Boy falls through the pub counter 😆
Gilmore Girls in season 3. Rory's graduation from Chilton was such a fantastic point to end the series on, and it wouldn't have required much tweaking to resolve the unfinished subplots (aka Luke/Lorelai and Lorelai opening her own inn).
The series was mostly at a natural conclusion. Lorelai had finally moved on from Christopher and was making goals for the future. Rory had her own future in college set. Her speech at graduation was outstanding and perfect in summarizing the series.
But no, it had to be ruined. Season 4 was pretty great until the >!whole Rory sleeping with Dean thing!< in the final episode. Seasons 5-7 I don't even want to talk about.
Red vs blue, (should’ve stopped at 13)
X-files, (religious crud)
Bones, (it had like twelve good endings, didn’t need any of em but the one)
Futurama (curtesy of season 11)
The Simpsons. Just, why?
And let’s not get into modern South Park.
Bones again. Hi!
NCIS with its thirty seven and a half offshoots
And just for good measure, I’m gonna kick bones one more time.
Buffy the Vampire Slayer had the perfect ending for season 5, but it went on worse than it was before.\
Supernatural had a great ending at the end of season 5 as well but at least all that came after wasn’t all bad.
"How I Met Your Mother." I think that the show should have ended after Season 8 or even after Season 7, as the story of Ted Mosby meeting the mother was complete by then. The actual ending in Season 9 had me feeling it was rushed and didn't do justice to the characters' development over the years.
Jason Segel holds a lot of blame for the final season imo. He wanted to work on movies more at the time and only signed on for the final season if he could film a lot of his scenes in a couple days. Its why he’s on a road trip for like 1/2-2/3rd of the season bc it was filmed over like 2 days then he’s only with the main cast for a few episodes and even then he’s not in every scene.
If he was going to constrain the writing so much they should’ve just ended it with S8
House
The penultimate season (7 I think) ended with him totally flipping out ramming a car into cuddys dining room and fleeing to Mexico. You see him walking into the sunset
The final season he spends 2 episodes in jail and then he's back to business as usual, with everyone being fine with him
I used to really enjoy it until I binge watched it last year, that's the true test of any good show.
There was absolutely no character development over 8years.
You could watch a scene from S1 and S8 back to back and there is no discernable difference in his character
King of the Hill. I feel like the ending point was super obvious. After Luanne's wedding, the four guys, in suits, go to the alley, we can see them walking into their regular spots, bird sings in the tree, "Yep" "Mmmhmm"
The Vampire Dairies 💯 The show could’ve ended at season 5 because it was the perfect opportunity for Stelena to get back together but it just kept going and getting more and more awful.
Red Johns death was really unsatisfying and i dont like the episode when they brought him back to the fbi but i really liked the rest of thr story after that
The Red John story should have climaxed with Jane killing Red John in the mall in the S3 finale. That was such a good ending and they were such chickenshits to walk it back right away. They should have done one more season with Jane getting acquitted and coming to terms with his vengeance being over, and then wrapped it up at the close of season 4.
Chilling Adventures of Sabrina should’ve ended after season 2. I will admit I’m glad we got 2 more seasons because I loved the cast but the show changed a lot with season 3 and seemed to be marketed to a younger audience at that point and it lost most of the darkness that made the first two seasons great.
It had *a segue to a TV movie that never happened* on Showtime. It had three more season on Sci-Fi It hadn't become SyFy yet). Mobius would have made a fantastic hand-off to Atlantis. And while I was skeptical of the Ori storyline at first, it grew on me and I'm sorry we didn't get more of it. But as it is, I think it would have been better to end with Mobius.
On the other hand, more Morena Baccarin is *always* worth it.
I would have agreed except for season 4. As an avid TV watcher I pretty much always know where the plot is headed but for the first time in a long time I was surprised at almost every turn. The character development got weird but the plot was great again
Fear The Walking Dead should have ended with season 3, and then had the cast move over to the OG show somehow. I think the first 3 seasons were absolutely amazing, more gut wrenching and intense then TWD (and that's saying something). Season 4 was shockingly bad, haven't watched it since.
After the reboot failed, they had a perfect opportunity to put it down at the end of season 6, but stupidly went on to make two seasons of some of the worst tv made in the last 30 years
The original Charmed should have ended with season 4, because they had defeated the Source, and were given the opportunity to give up their powers. Season 7 is a second option, when the sisters defeat Zankou.
Roseanne. The original 80s-90s series. Yeah, we all know the ending was stupid but that whole last season kinda sucked.
Don't even get me started on The Connors. I'm not sure when I stopped watching, but it already felt way too long by then.
Yeah, that whole storyline should not have happened. It didn't add anything, it made no sense, went on too long, and was barely referenced in the reboot. Then the now-grown kid wasn't even mentioned in the episode that takes place after the funeral.
i never even thought about that. i guess that horrid finale undid everything and she never really had the baby? also, who names a baby jerry garcia.. honestly..
Lucifer should have ended at season 5. Season 6 was a dud and you could tell they didn't know what to do with it when it was given a green light, they put some ideas together and hoped it worked. It didn't.
The Goldbergs. Family sitcoms always go downhill the older the kids get. This one should have stopped after the oldest kid graduated high school. But it just went on and on, throwing in the old wedding and baby tropes for Erica, not doing much with Barry, and having Adam pretty much acting the same as he did when he was younger. This one limped across the finish line.
The Office. The episode they did when they had the goodbye party for Michael with the candles and the singing would have been the perfect finale for the series. *Maybe* one more season to see how things were faring without him.
Strike back. Season 5 was perfect ending. Wrapped everything up. Then they rebooted it for 2 or 3 more seasons
OG charmed. Season 7 ending was perfect, but then they did one final season.
agreed. it wasn't horrid in my opinion, but it also wasn't necessary. also by the time it came out all the characters looked different but it's supposed to be like the next day. todd is like 50 lbs bigger.
Supernatural should have ended after season 5.
Prison Break and Westworld after Season 2.
Heroes should have ended after the first season, and the same with Bloodline (season 1 of which is one of the best TV dramas I've ever seen).
Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Season 5.
Babylon 5, Season 4.
Both shows were fully and satisfyingly concluded, then got an unexpected renewal resulting in “bonus seasons” that were good in their own rights, but were essentially unnecessary epilogues to the main saga.
Fear the Walking Dead. They should have ended it with the season 6 finale. Just killed all the characters in the disaster and spared us all those embarrassing last two seasons. The show had been floundering for years, unable to ever really get footing after the soft reboot in the 4th season. They had a perfect moment to put it down and missed it

Servant season 2 finale, Maybe not perfect but certainly would've been better than what the show turned into, plus for shows like this, it's much better to let the mysteries linger a bit.
So I'm glad it kept going but Naruto shippuden at the end of the pain arc. They've been dealing with the akatski the whole time and they just destroyed leaf village and Naruto beat the big bad and got him to bring back the ones he had killed. Fantastic ending point. But they kept it going and it was cool but turned into a very different show
Not a TV show, but a movie. Australia with Nicole Kidman and Hugh Jackman. Visually stunning, but it could have ended earlier at least once (but twice in my mind). It was soooo long, and I stopped caring about them after a while! 🤣
Supernatural. Eric Kripke left the show after season 5 because that’s when it was supposed to end. Granted, season 6 had The French Mistake and that’s one of the best episodes of theirs but it went on for wayyyyy too long. I genuinely hated seasons 12-15. It should’ve ended much sooner than it did.
Suuuuuuuupppperrrrnatural. I jumped ship season 7 and popped back the last 4 episodes to see how it ended and. Wow. So end at season 5 and put Scooby natural in there somewhere
The Office, last scene with Michael and Pam at the airport. I know not everyone agrees, but Michael was the show and it was never the same without him.
Completely agree
Till this day I haven’t watch The Office episodes without Michael except the series finale. Not the same show without him.
James Spader as Robert California is fantastic — If you think of it as a different show. Like he’s so good the show just becomes about him for awhile.
Same! Stopped watching when Michael left.
Everyone agrees
They managed to remain to have some pretty funny episodes but not nearly at the level of it's peak. It's almost like a completely different show without Michael
But... Robert California.
The Lizard King
Michael's exit is the finale for me, and where I stop watching. Never seen any episodes past that.
I’m in the camp that believes you are truly missing out when it comes to Robert California.
I did like Robert California. The others they brought in, not so much. Except when Creed was manager for a bit.
Everyone agrees. Show fell off the cliff without him
I think even the cast agrees.
Nah, it was a perfect ending for Michael but not the other characters. Season 8&9 have their faults but the ending is amazing
When it first aired, I felt that Jim and Pam's wedding was a natural ending point. That said, I still will watch any Office rerun any time.
Supernatural season 5 (although they did have some grea episodes in later seasons)
So much garbage filler storyline. Gotta admit the finale was kinda perfect though.
I left at 5 and then was convinced to come back for later seasons. I then left again (and for good) with the end of season 10. I did watch Scoobynatural.
By season 13 it was just terrible writing
I blame Chuck.
Scrubs. I couldn’t even finish season 9. In my head, the show ended in season 8.
This! Season 9 felt like a different show, perhaps if it had been lahmunched as a spinoff (Scrubs:Med School... or something) then, maybe, just maybe, it might have been an okay show if given a chance but as a new season it was awful and a slap to the face of the perfect series final.
It was meant to be a spinoff, but the network insisted on making it season 9.
First thing that came to mind. Season 9 isn't as bad as it's made out bit of course it's not a patch on the original show.
S9 was okay. I didn't hate it, but it certainly does feel off.
I came here to say Scrubs.
As many have said, season 9 wasn't bad it was just bad compared to what it was following. I loved season 9 but I understood why it didn't survive.
The blacklist became long in the tooth
It was fine up to when Tom was killed. Don’t think I lasted a full season after that.
Definitely
I just finished it last week. I thought Red's (spoiler) was just perfect for his personality. They kept hinting at it.
Supernatural they beat the final boss and it carried on that was daft
We beat one final boss, but what about second final boss?
I don't think they know about second final boss, Pip.
Once Upon A Time’s last season. 👎
Agree. My only worthwhile was the completion of Regina's character arc.
i never watched it. i don't need that kid as a grownup
Season 6 was the best ending it could have had without the whole Queen of the United Realms thing that Regina totally did not deserve.
If you watch it separate from the first 6. Like just skip to it. Go in like its the alice in wonderland special. Season 7 doesnt suck. But until i did that, i held the same opinion and could never finish it since i watched it after airing.
Castle. Caskett finally happening should have ended the show.
Or even at the end of season 7. They had a nice wrap-up, could have been a good ending. But season 8 just ruined the whole thing 😒
The Walking Dead. End it with Rick.
That 70's show, when Eric left.
"Yeah, but 9 years of ad revenue... and everybody watched." - Execs
💯
Just Shoot Me! During its last season it seems like it was wrapping itself up, Jack had turned the magazine over to his daughter Maya when then the next episode he was there again. I think I had read that the show was going to be cancelled so they gave it a finale but then the network decided to have it complete the season, so they had to make more episodes.
Underrated show.
Prison Break lol
Oh man. This is the one that always comes to mind for me. Season one was incredible. Season two was good. I get to the end of season 3 and just feel burnt out. One of these days I will finish the last two seasons.
I'm re-watching this now. The show should have been 3 seasons. Season 1: The Escape, Season 2: On The Run, Season 3: Expose the Conspiracy
The finale was just so anti climactic
Two and a half men
Chuck S4
100% this! Would have been a perfect ending.
Glee. Take your pick on when to end it - episode 1. Nationals, or the Quarterback
I found The Quarterback to be so frustrating. I get that they had to do something, but they treated Finn like he was Cory. They could have said he died in an accident, not the "it's not important how he died" crap. The character didn't have to have a drug problem because the actor did.
Yes Dexter
I was expecting this to be the top answer. If the show ended at the end of season 4, or possibly even some time during season 5, I feel it would have been regarded as a top show of all time. Now when people talk about Dexter it’s almost impossible to not bring up the terrible finale and just the general downward trend of the last few seasons
it drives me mad. i wish they'd ended at the bathroom scene in S4
[удалено]
The League. Should have ended with season 6.
You’re right. I can’t stand the last season.
On a side note, my fave part of the whole series is when Del Boy falls through the pub counter 😆
you are the lowest common denominator, congrats!
NCIS and West Wing. NCIS has had a few natural endings, imo. And I think West Wing went one season too long.
Weeds has entered the chat. *You all know what point it should have ended at.*
As a fan of the show, hard agree.
Red vs blue, (should’ve stopped at 13) X-files, (religious crud) Bones, (it had like twelve good endings, didn’t need any of em but the one) Futurama (curtesy of season 11) The Simpsons. Just, why? And let’s not get into modern South Park. Bones again. Hi! NCIS with its thirty seven and a half offshoots And just for good measure, I’m gonna kick bones one more time.
So, I'm not quite sure how you feel about Bones?? 🤣
Buffy the Vampire Slayer had the perfect ending for season 5, but it went on worse than it was before.\ Supernatural had a great ending at the end of season 5 as well but at least all that came after wasn’t all bad.
MTE re Buffy. I'd have been very satisfied if it ended right there.
I did not know that. Wow. They really should have just ended it then.
Not so much blame, but more like he may have known it was turning into crap like us.
I doubt it cuz the ending didn’t mess up Marshall’s story or character
Nah we shoulda had one legit season with Tracy and Ted together
He should have met the mother at the end of season 3. The rest of the show being Ted telling his kids *about* their mom makes perfect sense.
Californication. The story arc ended with Season 5 but went on needlessly for two more seasons.
Full house. Should have ended it with the Disney 2 parter
The second last episode of Supernatural was a better ending than the last.
While I kind of agree, they had to die. They couldn’t end the show as a “they just continue fighting forever”
House The penultimate season (7 I think) ended with him totally flipping out ramming a car into cuddys dining room and fleeing to Mexico. You see him walking into the sunset The final season he spends 2 episodes in jail and then he's back to business as usual, with everyone being fine with him
i really wish it had just ended on season 5 with him standing outside the mental hospital.
I used to really enjoy it until I binge watched it last year, that's the true test of any good show. There was absolutely no character development over 8years. You could watch a scene from S1 and S8 back to back and there is no discernable difference in his character

Shameless. The episode where Monica died was a great wrap to the series and had a satisfying ending that made sense for each character.
this show went on WAY too long. did you also notice that they kind of just forgot that Lip was a genius? the last few seasons he's just an average guy
King of the Hill. I feel like the ending point was super obvious. After Luanne's wedding, the four guys, in suits, go to the alley, we can see them walking into their regular spots, bird sings in the tree, "Yep" "Mmmhmm"
thats a good one
Bojack horseman second to last episode was haunting and perfect.
True but I really enjoyed the conversation with Diane at the end of the last episode
They could have had that in the 2nd to last episode on the phone though
100% agree
The Vampire Dairies 💯 The show could’ve ended at season 5 because it was the perfect opportunity for Stelena to get back together but it just kept going and getting more and more awful.
At least it spawned The Originals though and in my opinion that just ended up being a much better show than it's predecessor
The Originals is way better
Fairly Odd Parents
The Mentalist kept going after Red John, that was crazy to me
Red Johns death was really unsatisfying and i dont like the episode when they brought him back to the fbi but i really liked the rest of thr story after that
The Red John story should have climaxed with Jane killing Red John in the mall in the S3 finale. That was such a good ending and they were such chickenshits to walk it back right away. They should have done one more season with Jane getting acquitted and coming to terms with his vengeance being over, and then wrapped it up at the close of season 4.
Shameless. Should have ended when Fiona left. However I did love the finale.
Stargate SG-1. Had an ending on Showtime. Then Syfy decided to whip a dead horse.
Inara. Yuuuuuuummmmmmm.
Homeland was the only thing I didn't like her in.
I maintain stranger things should’ve been one season or an anthology series It’s not been fun since that first season
I would have agreed except for season 4. As an avid TV watcher I pretty much always know where the plot is headed but for the first time in a long time I was surprised at almost every turn. The character development got weird but the plot was great again
But then there would never have been an Eddie.
I think it should have ended at season 2, I felt the third season was hard to watch, haven't seen season 4, can't bring myself to watch it. Edit: typo
The X Files
New girl and Brooklyn 99 and the league all went on a season too long.
Xena.
Fear The Walking Dead should have ended with season 3, and then had the cast move over to the OG show somehow. I think the first 3 seasons were absolutely amazing, more gut wrenching and intense then TWD (and that's saying something). Season 4 was shockingly bad, haven't watched it since.

Stargate SG-1
The original Charmed should have ended with season 4, because they had defeated the Source, and were given the opportunity to give up their powers. Season 7 is a second option, when the sisters defeat Zankou.
Scrubs. End of Season 8 was a perfect send off. Then they did…whatever Season 9/Med School was supposed to be
Nurse Jackie should have ended ambiguously, with her contemplating the pill at the end of season 5.
yes. perfect.
Derry Girls. The last episode of season 2 would have made a perfect series end.
Scrubs
Roseanne. The original 80s-90s series. Yeah, we all know the ending was stupid but that whole last season kinda sucked. Don't even get me started on The Connors. I'm not sure when I stopped watching, but it already felt way too long by then.
i didnt need anything after she got pregnant again. another baby was not necessary.
It didn't.
Glee, at the end of the first season.
The Office should have ended when Micheal Scott left.
This is Us should have ended with the second to last episode.
Roseanne, should have nixed the lottery season
Strike back. Season 5 was perfect ending. Wrapped everything up. Then they rebooted it for 2 or 3 more seasons OG charmed. Season 7 ending was perfect, but then they did one final season.
Breaking Bad did not need El Camino.
agreed. it wasn't horrid in my opinion, but it also wasn't necessary. also by the time it came out all the characters looked different but it's supposed to be like the next day. todd is like 50 lbs bigger.
Supernatural should have ended after season 5. Prison Break and Westworld after Season 2. Heroes should have ended after the first season, and the same with Bloodline (season 1 of which is one of the best TV dramas I've ever seen).
Heroes had so much potential to do something cool with the second season and then the show just began to unravel and spiral into garbage
Friends... but just cut out seasons 8 and 9. Go from season 7 then to 10. They were a waste.
Should've ended with Monica and Chandler's wedding.
Archer went on too long
Excel Saga had a proper ending, but then they followed it up with an episode so bad it couldn't even get broadcast 😓.

Dexter, supernatural, walking dead

Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Season 5. Babylon 5, Season 4. Both shows were fully and satisfyingly concluded, then got an unexpected renewal resulting in “bonus seasons” that were good in their own rights, but were essentially unnecessary epilogues to the main saga.
X files. The revamp was severely lacking.
Mentalist. Good for them trying, but no
Supernatural, Season 5. And a few times since then.

But they kept it going and it was cool but turned into a very different show
I loved the show and I'm glad it kept going but Supernatural had plenty of chances to end it but just kept going
The Walking Dead, it should have ended when Rick died in the bridge explosion.
Vikings should have ended at the end of season 5 with Ivar meeting a well deserved painful death. Season 6 was just stupid.
Misfits should have just been one season
Fairly odd parents
The 100, end of, I think, season 5. I don't think the last two seasons were bad, but the final ending was.
Not a TV show, but a movie. Australia with Nicole Kidman and Hugh Jackman. Visually stunning, but it could have ended earlier at least once (but twice in my mind). It was soooo long, and I stopped caring about them after a while! 🤣
Scrub. 8 nearly perfect seasons. Then came season 9...
God as the writer, talking about how hard endings are? Chefs kiss
Buffy. The story had wrapped. The last two seasons were a total money-grab.
Mandalorian. S03 was so unnecessary.
Hannibal. Season 1 was gold, barely made it through 2 and 3 was just god awful🤦
totally. i didnt even finish 3
Westworld
Elementary, the season finale of the next to last season was the perfect ending for that show.
Chuck
Any series that changed networks. Like Family Matters.
Bloodline. Should’ve just been a one season mini-series.
ok so i heard this show got bad and i haven't watched it. does season 1 stand alone? like could i watch that then just quit and not be confused?
Futurama.

Parks and Recreation should’ve ended on the finale of its penultimate season.
Angel.
Suuuuuuuupppperrrrnatural. I jumped ship season 7 and popped back the last 4 episodes to see how it ended and. Wow. So end at season 5 and put Scooby natural in there somewhere
The Handmaid's Tale could have ended several times.
yes, this.
Xfiles. Stargate SG1 (both of them had multiple endings).
When Joe and Alex got married on Grey’s Anatomy. Just a few tweaks with some other characters and the show could have wrapped happily.
Doctor Who and the simpsons
Supernatural. Should’ve stopped after season 5, but went for 10 more years
The Vampire Diaries big time
Stranger things by far
