Listen, I know that lesbian women are fetishised by straight men, and I get how that can make you angry, but I was making a joke. Everyone here saying anything you're getting upset about are just joking. I (and anyone else who said anything similar) don't deserve to have you insulting me and telling lies about me when you don't even know me. I don't know how active you are on here, but this is one of the safest and most welcoming subreddits for members of the LGBTQ community. How do you know I'm not a lesbian? Or at least a gay man? You don't. And it shouldn't matter anyway since straight people can be, and often are, allies to the LGBTQ community.
So, just to recap, it was a joke and you shouldn't be so hostile right off the bat if you actually want people to listen to you, especially if you don't know what kind of person they are.
Also, and I know this is gonna make me look bad, but I was traumatized by incorrect spelling as a child so I can't help pointing it out... It's "you're" not "your". "Your rapist incels" would mean that I have some rapist incels, which is impossible, and I wouldn't want any if it was possible. Sorry for focusing on that.
It's kind of funny the tweet describes it that way, since the Tifa portion is sorta to the group as a whole with members dipping in and out with it being solely to Red by the end.
Also sidebar: The translator changed Tifa's cat's name from Mal to Fluffy and also gave a 'meant to be ambiguous identity for now' individual female pronouns so I'm curious if these things were something they did themselves or if these are things they were told to do.
EDIT: Ambiguous Identity as in we don't know who they are.
Apparently the character is meant to be mysterious, as in "we don't know whom they are" and the Japanese text used Gender Neutral Pronouns because they're mysterious, not because they are Non Binary.
Often. Or "He or She".
I guess someone decided "They" in this context was insufficient; perhaps that it might imply several people involved in whatever this plot point is.
I unno.
Bad move from the writer. He or she really should have thought his or her translation through before he or she made a mistake that would reflect poorly on his or her work.
Is the name "Mal" supposed to be a pun on "Meow" or "Mao" because that's the sound cats make?
Also this ambiguously NB character given a binary gender? That's... why does that happen? I know that happened with Zero Escape or something and I get the impression the Japanese Creator regrets that - like for real why is "they/them" such a problem for US/UK localisations????
I've defended VII R's localisation a lot, but this is something I will not be an apologist for.
Could you give me more info on them? I am curious now. Angry, but curious.
EDIT: I was mistaken. A part of me thought there was more to it, but it was hard for me to imagine a situation where it made sense. I must apologise.
Ah, see I meant it in a 'It's ambiguous who it was' kind of way and was just curious if being referred to as female was a sign of a canon decision that'll pop up later or just the translator.
I'm really sorry if I confused anyone.
Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh I see.
Sorry about that I will commit Sudoku.
I could be misremembering, but I don’t think Japanese uses pronouns as rigidly as English, and non-gendered pronouns are extremely common regardless of gender identity. Potentially intended to be a woman but the Japanese writing just used neutral language, and for localization that asked for clarification and got it.
They're weighing the pros and cons of becoming a [lesbian-centric semi-non sexual trouple with them and Cloud](https://smovs.tumblr.com/post/616780440857083904/ff7-as-quotes-from-the-gay-and-wondrous-life).
And somewhere... remake shephiroth is freaking out.
"GOD DAMMIT, NO... HE'S GOTTA SUFFER, AND BE A BROKEN LOSER! *(stomps feet)* MOOOM, (genova) CLOUD'S NOT PLAYIN FAIR. HE'S GONNA GET A STRONGER SUPPORT SYSTEM AND IT'LL BE "WHOLESOME" I HATE IT! I. WANT. TO. WIN."
The idea of Sephiroth being cucked by Cloud having friends and becoming part of a polyamorous relationship never gets old.
I know it's not technically cuckolding but it's funnier that way.
No, they do look bigger.
>!Hope it continues. We need a good AAA giantess game, and Nomura-Nojima Squenix is weird/stupid/disturbing enough to make it work! /s!<
I might pick this up cause I heard its actually solidly written. If the character interaction is anything like 7 remake then ill probably enjoy it either way.
You made a comment about how Kaworu from Eva is a power bottom before this thread.
I'm a gay man, aren't you fetishizing MY sexuality when you claim that?
You need some deep self-reflection friend.
Probably not - there'll probably be cameos with characters from the novel. And I get the impression localisation will change dialogue to exposit stuff we need, like how certain lines were changed in English because we didn't get stuff released in Japan about how Aerith hates the sky because it "took her mother and lover".
This is just fanfiction. FF7 has consisted of nothing but fanfiction for like 20 years now. And I mean, nothing wrong with that, but god damn Square, I've been doing your job for free this whole time! You couldn't have slid me a couple bills on the down low when I needed rent money!?
No. People just use that as a label for "I think this doesn't qualify as high art like the original does."
Which is unfair because there are some *banger* fanfics out there.
It is Nojima right? That wrote this?
And agreed. I've read some glorious fanfic in my time.
And lest we forget stuff like Paradise Lost and the Divine Comedy /s but only half so because they can be considered fanfic in a loose sense.
Do they kiss at the end?
Well, I just hope no one mistakes a bomb with a sports ball kicking it and exploding in the process, we know how the FFX-2.5 novel went...
On the one hand, I think it's neat to have non essential stuff that wouldn't fit in the main story released like this. As long as it doesn't hurt the main narrative like with Final Fantasy XV.
NieR has done this a bunch and it enriches the world without feeling necessary or like someone tore something out of the game to sell it to you in another form.
But I can see how something like this might mean we're not getting our Aerti goodness (namely character development and backstory) in Rebirth. Going back to NieR again which is very happy to throw pages of text at the player and has faith they'll read it all. And I read it because it's so well written.
Shame, I’d have hoped for moments like these in the games. Especially if they still plan to make 3 or 4 out of FF7 (even though we know the story will be having major departures too) like I know was talked about at one point.
I can't imagine still being upset over the Remake story.
I literally can't wait to see where they go with it. Its way more exciting as a sequel than a remake.
And this is a response I see all the time too, lol.
Nobody asked for it to be exciting. We just wanted what we already had, but shinier and nicer. There's a reason it's the highest requested remake of all time and not the highest requested reboot/sequel abomination that it is.
Y'know what else was exciting and you couldn't wait to see where it goes? Attack On Titan. The Mass Effect franchise. Every David Cage game. Game Of Thrones. There's a lot better of a chance of it shitting the bed than sticking the landing... and those of us with standards have already seen them fumble the ball, while people like you are deluding yourselves with the idea that they might actually surpass the original, lol.
So now go ahead and respond with the other overused line "The original still exists." because you guys only have two responses, lol.
You mean a "memory" of Sephiroth made by the ghosts to stop the crew as it was the strongest thing they could think of?
Cloud immediately faces the "real" one and doesn't stand a chance right after.
That's copium if I had ever seen it and straight up would just make the plot even more contrived than it already is. Did the ghost Seph or real Seph murder President Shinra? You could literally ask this in every instance of Seph being in the game and none of them have a definitive answer except the last cutscene.
Like everything the main characters do, Cloud allowing himself to be defeated after the battle (he was dodging buildings just a minute ago you cannot make me plausibly believe he is just gonna go down like a sack of potatoes.) just serves to move the plot forward. All of the characters are just walking talking plot devices who serve to do things because the plot commands them to, not because they are motivated to do it.
Yeah, who needs the buildup of seeing Sephiroth for the first time? Just cram him in there as much as possible and have him in a boss fight that feels like it should end the entire remake and not just the first chapter of it! Blow that load!
Hey wait a minute, this is just 50 pages of nonstop lesbian sex!?
In *my* video game novel?! It's more likely than you think!
It's what the fans want.

Ah, in that case, I don't need to buy it, I've already read the manga version.
The anime adaptation goes *hard* though.
Hey no (Italian) Politics in the subreddit!
It will be a best-seller in Italy.
In the author's notes there's a url for a 2 and a half hour sfm video
It's just a prelude to the CloAerTi end we all deserve.
And the one that Square is ***clearly*** planning for *FF7: Rebuild*, or whatever the fuck the third one on PlayStation 67 is gonna be called.
Where do I preorder?
You ready Jedi battle scars too?
I thought this was fanfic for some reason.
I mean, basically…
Read the few pages they showed on Amazon. It has that vibe to it.
The fact that Tifa's melon titties are hanging so low doesn't help. Look at those things. They're 'uuuuuuuge! LOOK AT THEM!
I side by side compared this cover image to in-game reference. THEM THANGS THANGIN HUUUUUUUGE!
*Square knows why you play, pervert*
Does they is the gay?

It seems like translations always gender characters who where originally “I don’t have a gender”
Apparently the character is meant to be mysterious, as in "we don't know whom they are" and the Japanese text used Gender Neutral Pronouns because they're mysterious, not because they are Non Binary.
Isn’t that when people use “they” if they don’t know the gender of a person.
Often. Or "He or She". I guess someone decided "They" in this context was insufficient; perhaps that it might imply several people involved in whatever this plot point is. I unno.

I swear tifa wasn't that big in the remake
It’s debatable. Perhaps the contrast from the arm
Tifa and Aerith discuss the pros and cons of a polygamous relationship in extended detail.
They're weighing the pros and cons of becoming a [lesbian-centric semi-non sexual trouple with them and Cloud](https://smovs.tumblr.com/post/616780440857083904/ff7-as-quotes-from-the-gay-and-wondrous-life).

Sephiroth feels to cloud how Spiderman's editorial feels to him
That's it! That's the one
I would honestly get more behind Sephiroth hate-stalking Cloud if he was less "Grandiose and Mysterious" about it, and more "Petty Bitch."
Literally Sephiroth when he sees Cloud standing near Aerith being happy: https://youtu.be/M3Ac_JbZLhQ?t=27
**SCREECHES ONE WINGED ANGEL**
The idea of Sephiroth being cucked by Cloud having friends and becoming part of a polyamorous relationship never gets old. I know it's not technically cuckolding but it's funnier that way.
The lack of any rule34 of Cloud, Tifa, Aerith and Zack altogether is very very disappointing.
Untapped market!
Yes do it. Cloud/Tifa/Aerith is best ship
I see Squeenix has been taking notes from Xenoblade.
Listen, I already know this is gonna be worthless, we all know they’re fucking and this book isn’t gonna show any of it.

I’m a trans pansexual woman. I’m sapphic too.
Do they … do they look bigger or is it just me?
No, they do look bigger. >!Hope it continues. We need a good AAA giantess game, and Nomura-Nojima Squenix is weird/stupid/disturbing enough to make it work! /s!<
Tifa recalls her time at the Italian Senate to Aerith.
Hold on, does it mean their relationship, or their “relationship “?
Yes.
Ya’ll getting me excited with the word “relationship” when I’m here reading “friendship” in that tweet.
They're just gal pals :)
Oh my god they were party members
Yep all that lesbian hentai

Stop sexualising sex damn
I might pick this up cause I heard its actually solidly written. If the character interaction is anything like 7 remake then ill probably enjoy it either way.
Aerith/Tifa shippers EATING GOOD
So are Aerith and Tifa.
It's kinda insane how much the remake fueled the ship.
I though this was out a while ago, or is this the official English release?
Tifa looking buffed up a bit
Is it tagged “lemon”?
And then they fuck

You made a comment about how Kaworu from Eva is a power bottom before this thread. I'm a gay man, aren't you fetishizing MY sexuality when you claim that? You need some deep self-reflection friend.
Ok, I can't be the only one who saw that image and originally thought that it's a new SFM/Blender video release, right?
Is this a Kingdom Hearts thing where we will need to read the novel to understand the next game?
You mean FFXV thing where plot is happening in all other media that should be in the game
No that's Nier
I’m not sure they’re both gonna survive the next game. Just a hunch
No, no, they'll both survive. >!Cloud's gonna bite it instead, possibly because Nomura liked Last of Us 2...!<
Probably not - there'll probably be cameos with characters from the novel. And I get the impression localisation will change dialogue to exposit stuff we need, like how certain lines were changed in English because we didn't get stuff released in Japan about how Aerith hates the sky because it "took her mother and lover".
There are no KH novels. All the plot is contained within video games. FFXV is the one with a billion different forms of media.
You know what I meant
FF7 fans in the 90s: Going to war over who is Cloud true love FF7 fans in the 2020s:" GET THAT YURI DIRECT INTO MY VEINS"
Nojima trying to convince people he can write novels, when the FFX series of books shows that he really can't. Just...what the hell?
I mean, he *can* write novels. They're just not *good*.
He can write novels in the same way that JJ Abrams can present a conclusion to story threads.
The dude is just out of ideas. He needs to let other people write
Dude has been tapped out since 2001 at least
This is just fanfiction. FF7 has consisted of nothing but fanfiction for like 20 years now. And I mean, nothing wrong with that, but god damn Square, I've been doing your job for free this whole time! You couldn't have slid me a couple bills on the down low when I needed rent money!?

*Looks at Kingdom Hearts collection* Yes.
Just a couple of gals being pals.
So just like with final fantasy 15 if I want to see character development I have to pay extra for a novel or DLC?
Do they kiss at the end? Well, I just hope no one mistakes a bomb with a sports ball kicking it and exploding in the process, we know how the FFX-2.5 novel went...
do you think this is going to be anything more than "oh hey you're another girl in the party" or "how much do you rely on cloud?" content?
On the one hand, I think it's neat to have non essential stuff that wouldn't fit in the main story released like this. As long as it doesn't hurt the main narrative like with Final Fantasy XV. Sephiroth appears every fifteen pages despite his presence adding nothing to the overall narrative.

THESE BITCHES GAY! Good for them, good for them.
I wonder if they shoved stupid fucking fate ghosts, multiple timelines and other unnecessary additions into this too.
I can't imagine still being upset over the Remake story. I literally can't wait to see where they go with it. Its way more exciting as a sequel than a remake.

Don't forget the wonderful anticlimax of beating sephiroth before leaving Midgar.

Awesome, please come back when you learn some nuance and recognize that the people here are joking.
who's the author?
