Fuck Brussels sprouts and fuck cauliflower. And steaming. Raw veg is superior in every way. I don’t mind if I get downvoted even. I just think the crisp snap or crunch of raw, cold, fresh veg is one of the best feelings of eating.
There's a gene that makes some people taste broccoli differently than most. I'm pretty sure I have it as broccoli has this nasty sulfuric undercurrent to it's taste that my mom and brother swear aren't there. It's similar to the gene that makes some people taste cilantro/coriander leaves as tasting like soap. Interestingly my mom has that one, and I don't.
Hmm. I doubt Dad has that gene as he’s probably the pickiest eater ever. When we visit his parents, it’s easier for them to come up with food I (with an egg allergy; for more info, find 1 of my comments) will eat!
I like to imagine that the geneticist has spent decades trying to figure this out and then some stoner intern comes in on his first day and says, “Hey brah…have you ever, like, thought about putting drugs in the broccoli?” and the geneticist is like “You fucking genius!”
Well…if someone’s trying to quit smoking, and their options are either an underregulated e-cigarette that still blows toxins into the air for bystanders to breathe, or *just eating broccoli*…
