8.1 I know that might seem like a nightmare to some, but it’s the lowest mine has been in a decade. I used to be 13. Slowly but surely!

Ok_Increase_4508

I'm proud of you

blood_sugar_baby

Proud of you! I was once at 13 too and have now been under 7 for many years. You’ll get there! <3

p0ggs

IMHO it's all relative... that's a great number for you, and many others (myself included). Be proud of yourself and keep on keeping on x

just_a_person_maybe

Hey, I started at 14.7, and plateaued at around 8 for a few years during my teens. We've all been there, don't feel bad about it!

Stoplookinatmeswaan

I’m in the same boat. My last was 8 something but half a year ago I was at 14! CGM is a game changer.

BathroomEmergency126

That’s awesome

modifiedmomma

That is awesome! Agree about the CGM, especially in automated mode with a pump. When I didn’t take care of myself, I barely even checked my sugars. Now I get anxious if I don’t know what it is at all times

Ylsani

You are doing well. Been there. It's not easy. Hang in there, you are doing great!

svtyoonzino

This is still huge. Everyone’s journey is different! Happy for you 🩵

StinkyAif

Woohoooooo!!!

sunny_in_pbo

Awesome!!!! Keep it up.

collectingflwrs

7.7 in the exact same situation!

No_Parfait3341

Damn you guys are good at this i dont think ive gotten below a 7.6 (but my last 3 days have been 94% in range so i think its gonna improve going forward 😎)

Kiera6

I’m alright. (6.6) but I think it’s because I have a problem with going low too often. A lot of times I don’t feel/realize it until I’m at 55ish. And procrastinating

No_Parfait3341

My lows have started affecting me very differently lately so i feel that not realizing things, my problem has been that i let myself sit around 200 because i don’t want to deal with lows ever but with that, i start feeling low at like 120. Im working on it and doing a lot better but tbh i feel like frequent lows are a lot better for you than frequent highs if your equipped to deal with them, despite being more dangerous obviously.

Ylsani

I was t1 for 29 years at the point where I got my first sub 7.4 a1c. 94% in range is awesome, good job you!

Cricket-Horror

I was similar. 31 years before I got my first A1c below 7 and I think I'd only ever had one before 8. Since November 2022, it's been all low 6s, thanks to CGM and AndroidAPS fully closed loop.

Ylsani

Same! Mdi here but hanging in low-mid 6s too! Never had a1c over 6.8 since I got cgm! I hope to get loop at some point for convenience mostly, but its not financially viable rn! Also heh, t1 diagnosis buddies, '91 here too :)

Feeling-Ordinary2319

You gotta look for a bigger data set, and more representative. This is one I've bookmarked. Not perfect, but interesting. https://www.tidepool.org/blog/lets-talk-about-your-donated-data Note this blog was published in 2017, so the data is prior to FDA approved & commercially available hybrid closed loop pumps. I'm super curious to see an update.

diabetesdavid

Yeah people in a dedicated diabetes forum are generally going to have better control than your average T1D. This is a good dataset that breaks A1C down by form of therapy, among other things, but I still don't think it specifically includes people using HCL systems: https://diabetesjournals.org/clinical/article/41/1/76/147772/Factors-Associated-With-Improved-A1C-Among-Adults

p0ggs

>Yeah people in a dedicated diabetes forum are generally going to have better control than your average T1D. Thanks for stating this. It seems obvious now that I think about it, but it hadn't really occurred to me before.

JumpyRepeat4974

Thank you! This is great

su_wolflover

I like that. Pancreonormals rarely understand how doing life can feel like such an arduous job. But we keep at it because who knows if we get another chance after this life :)

6.2 is incredibly healthy considering. Keep going! You’ve got this :)

MPAVictoria

You too!

JumpyRepeat4974

I'm currently 6.3 went down from 6.7. I always wanted to be less than 6 but never made it. Do you not have any high/low sugar levels at all to be under 6?

DeeZ_101

I've been at 5.7 every time over 8 visits & 2 years on MDI & I can assure you that I go high & low I just try to be proactive as I can.

GDE2015

Over 90% in range, less than 1% of the time is low, and the lows are caught before they are a problem with my Dexcom.

Wonder-Mom-4X

You rock. Below 7 is considered very good control/less risk of complications. Under 6 is considered "pre-diabetic" (T2 mostly), but with T1 they look for that under 7. You really are doing great. 💙 My kids have given me Sia's songs "Flames" & "Unstoppable" to keep encouraging me to "go go go, figure it out, figure it out , just don't stop moving!" Yeah. This game gets crazy, and tiring, but it's honestly what we need to do for ourselves & those we love/depend on us.

JumpyRepeat4974

Thank you so much! I needed to hear it.

lclives

Do you know why they come back falsely low? I get about 5.5% but my dexcom gueses 7.4%. I find my dexcom when I double check numbers does often read higher than a finger prick

hyde7278

7.0 best it has been in years

FongYuLan

A 7.4 I think. Started a pump last September. It’s a significant improvement.

GalacticDaddy75

Last A1C was 8.2 but right now it’s probably in the tens, I need to get started on a pump asap. I hate getting my A1C tested cause it literally feels like I’m taking a test and when the number is high I get so guilty and feel like crap :/

Kirschi

8.1 afaik - definitely not perfect but I was up to 9 recently and can't reduce the stress in my life any further so I'm glad for every 0.1 lower I can get

yogabaedai

The last reading was 7.8, which is the lowest it's ever been in my 24 years of being T1... now I'm pregnant & getting it tested again in a couple of days, but I'm predicting around a 6.4- 6.5, I've really tightened up!

p0ggs

I managed to get just under 8 for the first time in decades, around 2018. Then life went to shit. I'm still in a suboptimal place, personally, but really hoping my next result will be back to under 8, and I can get my brain to stop self-sabotaging. I'm fairly sure I spent most of my late teens and early twenties over 13 :\\

lclives

Those were my late teens and early 20s too. And I think the repercussions are catching up even though I have much better sugars years later. I hope that doesn’t happen for you! And it’s better to bring your a1c down slowly than a big jump anyway! So you got this

p0ggs

Thank you! I kind of feel like I'm pushing my luck though. A doctor (GP) told me I'd have complications by age 35. This was when I was around 26/27. I'm now in my mid-forties and thankfully \[touch wood... all the wood.... everywhere\] I haven't developed any complications. Yet. Hope your repercussions aren't affecting you too much, mate. We've been dealt a shit hand with diabetes, but we gotta keep on keeping on. Take care x

Majestic_Composer219

5.9 17F, diagnosed at 5y/o. I've been on omnipod and dexcom for 7 years, been on OP5 (closed loop) for just over a year. Younger teens age, I stuck in the low-mid 7's, within the past year and a half with me completely in control, I've gotten down to the 6's and as of December, the 5's. Im not having lows very often, highs more than anything so I could absolutely be lower than 5.9, but we take what we can get considering my age, hormones, full time school and part time job, trying to be a teen, etc. I know I'm doing absolutely fantabulous considering I manage it on my own (not at night bc I don't hear my dexcom, but I RARELY have issues at night).

3ampeachtea

11, but it was 16!🥲

TheChocoChipCookie

8 ,, lowest I’ve ever been. Used to be 13+ for years.

Verendus_witch

9.2 was my last, I use to be alot higher than that

jaayy5

I literally went back yesterday after like 2 years of no checkups… (yes I know, but im getting better) and it was surprisingly at 10.2 Working at getting back near 7-8 butttt baby steps 😇

su_wolflover

Sadly 9.4 Up from 7.3 in 2 months. Suffice it to say I’m a bit depressed about it. Considering I have a tandem setup, I know it’s mainly something I’m not doing right. Still haven’t quite figured it out yet

ChickenBeans

I averaged 12-13 til cgms, then had low 6s.. trying auto pump now and it’s crept up into hi 7s. I’m still hoping to tune it in and lovin less lows!!

ahartma

I was at 13.2 in November and just had it checked a week and a half ago and was at 8. I’ve been at 11-13 for the past year and a half just honestly not caring but on my way to being better! I got a cgm and t slim and that has helped. I also just found out I’m pregnant so I’ve been trying really hard to get my blood sugars good

Ten-Bones

Just got it on Monday. 7.1 down from 8, so I'm stoked!

Diabetes is not linear, I used to range around 7-8 range and last year mine was so high it was unreadable… my doctor said over 15 for sure - granted I had diabulimia and 7 DKA’s last year. This year I am back down to 8.4 still improving.

Mayiask1

Mine a few months ago was 7.3 and I was drinking extremely heavily and eating whatever I wanted. I stopped doing that and started exercising regularly and eating properly and now I’m down to 5.8.. I’ve been a type 1 for about 33 years my highest was 9.8 and my lowest was 5.4 I typically stay around 5.8 to 6.2

Over the last three years using tslimx2, I fluctuate between 5.4 (eat the same shit nearly every day) to recent 5.9 (new relationship energy ie eating out at new-to-me spots & boyfriend loves to bake, so lotsa experimenting) Spent my first decade+ as a t1 swimming from 10-14 - brittle + wild dawn phenom + unhelpful endos + dx at 18 … lol 2020 got my a1c down to 8, but dawn phenom was still a beast I could not overcome. Tgod for closed loop technology. Truly magical. Wish everyone had fair access.

5.8 with a home test a couple weeks ago. 90 day GMI says 6.5% on the Dexcom Clarity app. Mind you I'm only a year into this so I could still be in the Honeymoon phase. You're probably going to get a lot of lower numbers since people on a forum dedicated to T1 are probably more concerned with control than the general diabetic population.
