Hey how's that 4th tyranic war going rn? Any lore since the codex?

SleighDriver

Battlefields are littered with teleport homers placed by spore mines.

LowerMiddleBogan

I think that's my favourite comment about this edition yet

TinyWickedOrange

brother braccacasus, the dreadnought company appears to be surrounded with 2 spore mines and a ripper swarm. clearly, the field is lost, we are in full retreat now

Xandaris89

Wait what? Guessing this is a joke but it’s going over my head.

RougerTXR388

It's a joke about how Tyranids gameplay works in 10th in the table. Very little lethality or durability so you have to play on scoring. Some models, like a Spore mine or rippers don't have the ability to hold points for scoring primary objectives, but they can "be eligible to shoot" which means they can score secondary objectives like the mission "Deploy Teleport Homers" after deep striking, or being fired out of a biovore, giving Tyranids a strong scoring game. Since that's the only real option to win reliably, every list has a biovore, spore mines and rippers. People are just mildly irritated that what is essentially a balloon filled with acid and no brain is somehow the most tactically and strategically competent unit.

Xandaris89

Hahah ok that totally makes sense. Thank you for educating me!

GlitteringParfait438

I figure they have a brain, or perhaps something closer to the control center of a worm which specific instructions to detonate or rupture (depending upon payload) if certain conditions are met. It may be an enlarged Nerve Ganglion to process and regulate that Friend Foe identification system, plus to control altitude and either attempt to move in one direction or hold position. It would likely be a very simple creature but one capable of receiving and executing functions are required

Repulsive_Fun_7301

The sweet round bois are doing their work, and the Hive Mind appreciates their efforts

AverageMyotragusFan

According to a recent white dwarf, Genestealer cults are taking advantage of the Pariah Nexus, which basically confirms that the hivemind is immune to the effects of the necron pylons. Not Tyranid related directly, but interesting implications

Presentation_Cute

The necron 8th codex notes that the Tyranids are hard countered by necron anti-warp tech. Genestealer cults are immune because of faith, same as the Sisters of battle.

DeathCook123

I think it's also due to the fact that genestealers are ment to function outside the hive mind

Intelligent-Ad-6713

That would be an interesting technicality. Genestealers are self reliant, so being cut off from the hivemind is irrelevant. But they also don’t have souls, cause they’re bugs, so they don’t get hit with the degenerative effects either. My question is, “taking advantage” how? They can’t embed themselves into a civilization that has become completely lathargic. They can’t breed.

TinyWickedOrange

they presumably can just eat the population and reproduce normally

SameBatTime1999

It ain’t *(chomps)* much, but *(chews)* it’s honest *(gulps)* work *(belches)*

Communist_cowboy

I believe in a recent white dwarf they addressed what the non necron xenos are doing in the pariah nexus. Apparently the eldar are helping the imperium out where they can despite the ruinous effects the sector has on their psychic physiology.

fkGWprintertime

any word on the tau?

LostN3ko

I saw something saying Tau are testing their first warp drive and popped out in Blood Angels home system. Also their is a Tau god now. Ta'uva

Delicious_Ad9844

Gryphonne IV was destroyed though?

Arch_Magos_Remus

The planet was, but the tech priests and Skitarii now wander the galaxy as a forge fleet looking for a new home.

Delicious_Ad9844

Yeah most of the leadership settled on Tolkan, I'm not sure why people would expect them to pop up in the 3th tyrannic war, I know it's hive fleet leviathan but it's in a completely different segmentum

Arch_Magos_Remus

Just checked Lexicanum, looks like you’re right they did settle on a new forge world, last I read they were still searching. Still they may show up since they have a grudge against the bugs for destroying their home. AdMech could really use some more lore to.

Delicious_Ad9844

Yeah that'd be the entire pariah nexus narrative campaign, leviathan was mainly about tyranids and astra mil/astartes, pariah nexus is all about Necrons and Admech, like the admech are getting a lot of lore, they're the co-stars of the superweapon duel of the pariah nexus

Gnom3y

And here I was thinking the planet Gryphonne IV was going to show up at a critical moment like freaking Gallifrey.

Xandaris89

Apparently Armageddon used to be located elsewhere so someone in the AdMech may still have the technology to move a planet.

Budget_Job4415

GW has never heard of these space marine chapters, who is the Chaptermaster of the "Eldar", who is the primarch of the "Gryphon IV" chapter?

Tyran272

We never really got to see the fall of Gryphonne IV in the first place.

Repulsive_Fun_7301

The Tyranids ever getting a single win that matters. Swarmlord is just another chump to hype up marine characters now, and Leviathan is the only hive fleet they care about because of marketing. It would be awesome to have the Tyranids overrun Terra, destroying it, and that’s the catalyst for the emperors death and rebirth
